We always seem to lose in the first round of this competition against a lower league team. It's all so predictable.

The Capitol One Cup is extremely hard to predict the winners of. So unpredictable but I think maybe a team like Liverpool or Spurs could possibly do it this season.

League Two Oxford United 3-0 up against Brentford.
Currently Championship sides Blackburn, Bristol City, Ipswich, MK Dons, Nottingham Forest all behind in their respective matches. |

We lost 3-1 against Luton. What a f***ing joke. We are so useless in this competition.

It was shocks galore with Blackburn, Brentford, Bristol City, Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest all being knocked out by lower league opposition.

Well that served me right for loving Forest being knocked out, incredibly average performance from Derby tonight and were deservedly beaten. We should've had a penalty about ten minutes from the end, but we shouldn't have even been in the position to need a penalty to equalise - not that we ever score penalties anyway! The first Portsmouth goal was a bad mistake from our keeper, no doubt that has cemented Scott Carson as our #1 keeper for the forseeable future at least.
Hopefully our first home match on Saturday will give us the kick-start we need. I knew it'd be a slow start due to all the player and managerial changes, but we can't afford to fall too far behind. |

Not surprised a lot of Championship teams don't care about the League Cup. When we were down there, I had almost no interest in the Cup competitions as long as we were promoted.
The stakes are even higher for Championship clubs than the lowly Premier League clubs hence why the Cup is almost an afterthought. Look at the attendance's too, most fans do not care (although Cup matches aren't included in Season tickets so that could explain it too). |

Liverpool away next. Not sure how we beat QPR, I remember they beat us once or twice in cup competitions before.
Few derby matches involved in the next round. Third round draw complete: Middlesbrough v Wolves Norwich City v West Brom Hull City v Swansea Leicester City v West Ham Aston Villa v Birmingham Tottenham v Arsenal Manchester United v Ipswich Town Liverpool v Carlisle United Crystal Palace v Charlton Athletic Fulham v Stoke City Sunderland v Manchester City Newcastle United v Sheffield Wednesday Reading v Everton Preston v Bournemouth Walsall v Chelsea Milton Keynes Dons v Southampton This post has been edited by Flatcap: Aug 27 2015, 05:10 PM |

TV games should be Tottenham Arsenal and Villa Birmingham. Although Walsall v Chelsea could be chosen too, especially as Villa are at home not the other way round.
Leicester away isn't a great draw, considering they've just beaten us in the league. Although this may make them complacent |

Tottenham vs Arsenal is a given, then it will either be Walsall/Chelsea or Liverpool/Carlisle.

Hope that the Villa v Birmingham match will be remembered for the football not for anything else. I remember the last time they played in the Cup in 2010 when there were pitch invasions and flares thrown and all sorts! After the pitch invasion at the Cup Quarter-Final with West Brom last year, security will be massively tightened at Villa Park. Notts County fans commented as much recently. |

I'm off to Leicester later to watch West Ham, hope we field a strong team as a Cup would cap off the last season at Upton Park perfectly!
Thinking Andy Carroll might get a run out tonight, wouldn't surprise me if Payet was rested either. |

Liverpool taken to the limit by Carlisle and winning on a penalty shoot-out. They can count themselves lucky to still be in the competition and this wont really help Brendan Rodgers employment prospects.
