 15 years ago, Madonna released the lead single to her 10th studio album 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' The song went to #1 in 41 countries. It was the most-successful dance song of the 00s in the US & is one of the best-selling singles ever. The music video is a tribute to John Travolta and dancing, and features Madonna in her now iconic pink leotard. What are your thoughts on this song, 15 years later? |

It was so huge and deservedly so. It is a Madonna classic and lots of my friends fav Madonna song. |

Can't believe it's 15 years old! Like there's people online that might not even have been born when this was released. I remember being at a party and there was an 18 year old who didn't know the song (nor could they name any other Madonna song).
I think this has secured its place as my favourite Madonna song. One of those that I can listen to on repeat and never fails to make me happy. The ABBA sample is genius and the structure of the song allows your anticipation to build up and be released at various points of the song. Madonna went ALL OUT on promoting this song, perhaps the most she's ever done, and what a fantastic routine the performances had! |

For me it's one of the greatest songs of the 00s and instantly became a CLASSIC for her. The sample is so iconic and it opens up the era that went on to become my favourite era of music, expertly.
The video, while a statement and so recongisable now is so simple on paper, but everything just fit together perfectly. To think it's 15 years old and yet sounds like it could have been released 15 years prior to that date, and as if it could be relased 15 years from now - TIMELESS! |

I hardly ever listen to it these days but I do have very fond memories of it, we had the Confessions album on repeat in the car for about 2 months non-stop and never got sick of it. It was so good to see her back at the top of her game and really making something that sounded so refreshing.
I think it's her most successful single ever here in the UK. I know it's not the biggest seller but that's largely because single sales were so low back then, it felt so huge in terms of it's reach and definitely much bigger than any of her previous hits in my lifetime had seemed. |

'Hung Up' was a huge chart hit by 2005's standards. I remember that it was so cross-generationally big that I was 16 and most clubs I was going to (there is no such thing as a gay venue in my hometown) were playing Hung Up/Get Together/Sorry back to back, in full, as soon as the album came out (and the latter were not singles yet).

The music video looks so good in HD - those colours pop!
Also had a watch of the behind-the-scenes video. It seemed like such a fun shoot! Interesting to see parts of the slowed-down 'tunnel dance' played in real time. |

I mean, I presumed it was, given 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' had been a big hit originally and ABBA-'Gold' certainly would have kept their legacy alive and kicking, but for me and I imagine many others my age, 'Hung Up' was the first time I had heard it and therefore associate it so strongly with Madonna.
