Let's get this going then!
Breakthrough act of the year Firstly we present the award for breakthrough act of the year, which goes to... CAMELPHAT! Previous winners include Disclosure and Clean Bandit both of whom have been very successful for many years so let's hope CamelPhat follow in their footsteps. They win by a substantial amount as well of two points to one, beating Loud Luxury and M-22 whose big breakthrough hits helped them to finish in joint second. CamelPhat actually formed in 2008 but it was not until 2017 when 'Cola' became the biggest club hit of the year and a UK top 20 hit when they truly broke through. They also had a second hit in 2018 with 'Panic Room' making the UK top 30, and most recently released the brilliant 'Breathe' which has so far peaked at #100 and is set to re-peak this week. Male Vocal Performance Of The Year
Taking the crown for Best Male Vocal Performance and just pipping Sam Smith on Promises to the post with more of you choosing it as your first preference is Dan Smith from Bastille taking on singing duties on a Marshmello smash. Peaking at #2 here in the UK and #3 in the US, this track found its way into the hearts and ears of many over the summer becoming one of the biggest tracks of 2018. Dan’s vocals here are definitely on point with a catchy hook so an understandable winner here. I'd have chosen Sam Smith out of the two but Dan Smith is great too, the song wouldn't be quite as good without him or a similarly good vocalist (or anyone who isn't Anne Marie).
Poor Calvin only getting one point! |

Female vocal performance of the year
And the award for female vocal performance of the year goes to... BECKY HILL for 'Back & Forth'! This is actually the second time she won this award, following her 2014 victory for 'Gecko (Overdrive)'. In 2013 it was won by Lana Del Rey. 'Back & Forth' became a UK #12 hit, giving Becky her first top 40 hit in 2 years, and it was also her second collaboration with MK. They clearly make for a great pairing as both of their songs together made #1 in my personal chart (and probably in Lewis's too), and her vocal is outstanding on this as ever - and as this is based purely on vocal performance and not the whole song as a package (I prefer a few of the other songs in this category), this is a very well deserved winner. Three points behind is Dua Lipa for 'One Kiss' and Au/Ra completes the top 3 with 'Panic Room'. Producer of the Year
Calvin Harris comes out as top producer again after previously winning in 2014. He has had an incredible year with 2 #1 singles under his belt as well as producing for Normani and remixes for SZA and Halsey. His ability to switch between proper dance bangers and urban tinged electronic music is impressive and his releases certainly bring the Dance Forum alive with activity. Group of the year
And the award for group of the year goes to... CLEAN BANDIT! They also won this award back in 2014 when they released their first album, so it's no surprise that off the back of their 2nd album they win it again - but will they win Album of the Year too? This year they released 'Solo' which was a big UK #1 single, their 4th #1 in all, and followed it up with the sleeper hit 'Baby' which eventually scored them their 11th top 20 hit following the ending of the Christmas rush. The album also peaked in the top 20 and has so far had decent longevity in the chart. They finish 7 points ahead of Breakthrough winners CamelPhat, whilst Diplo & Mark Ronson's collaboration project Silk City finish in joint third with 2013 winners Disclosure. I love Bastille but I'd have definitely picked Sam Smith for that category, he's perfect on dance songs. |

Album of the Year
Double CB alert *.* It got mixed reviews on here and critically, but the symphonic trio Clean Bandit’s second album What Is Love? wins your votes by 1 point over Sigala as the favourite dance album. Featuring a collection of no more than 6(!) singles and various features, the album moves slightly away from their classical sound bringing in more tropical/latin vibes. After debuting at #19 in December, the album has benefitted from the New Year sales/gift card effect and has reached a new peak of #15 this week. Worst song of the year
And the award for worst song of the year goes to... VLADIMIR CAUCHEMAR & 6IX9INE with 'Aulos Reloaded'! Fresh off his Hate Chart 'victory', 6ix9ine 'wins' another 'worst of' contest as this song won by six points. We all know why this has won and of course it has very little to do with Vladimir's input, though the original 6ix9ine-less version isn't very good either. Finishing in 2nd is Martin Jensen's disappointing '16 Steps' and David Guetta is in 3rd with 'Don't Leave Me Alone', which is deemed the worst UK hit dance single of the year.  6ix9ine couldn't make it to tonight's show but Vladimir is here to pick up this "award" The full results: 17 Vladimir Cauchemar & 6ix9ine - Aulos Reloaded 11 Martin Jensen feat.
