I've got an online quiz tonight so will probably miss most of the results thread but probably just as well as I'm in no rush to find out just how badly I've done

Sorry I missed this quiz, I normally love these types of quizzes so sad to miss out! Hopefully I’ll be able to do the next rounds of these.

Name a Christmas song that charted in the top 40 last year.
We got as many as 30 Christmas songs last year make the top 40, the most in History and perhaps too many for some people's liking. Anyhow most of us managed to score low except for two posters who picked songs that charted top 40 in previous years, but not 2019, plus Darlene Love for whatever reason getting 3 points, being fairly middle of the pack so a song a few posters thought would end up pointless. 3 - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) [Darlene Love] chrissmith276, Ansel, jimwatts, King Rollo 1 - Santa Tell Me [Ariana Grande] b, Jade 1 - Underneath The Tree [Kelly Clarkson] awardinary, AaronTM 1 - Step Into Christmas [Elton John] rio309, Bré 0 - Cozy Little Christmas [Katy Perry] danvember 0 - Mistletoe [Justin Bieber] n4yr 0 - Santa’s Coming For Us [Sia] paulgilb 0 - Christmas Lights [Coldplay] M4NGO 0 - Sleigh Ride [The Ronettes] PeteFromLeeds 0 - Merry Xmas Everybody [Slade] Bjork 0 - Do They Know It’s Christmas [Band Aid] jlj 0 - Jingle Bell Rock [Bobby Helms] Nina West 0 - It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas [Michael Buble] RabbitFurCoat 0 - Holly Jolly Christmas [Michael Buble] StoneDragon 0 - All I Want For Christmas Is You [Mariah Carey] Dobbo 0 - Rockin Around the Christmas Tree [Brenda Lee] Riser 0 - Santa’s Coming For Us [Sia] CianS 0 - White Christmas [Bing Crosby] Mack 0 - Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord [Boney M.] [loophole] dj_time_e 0 - Baby It’s Cold Outside [Idina Menzel] [loophole] vibe |

That's a bad start for me getting 3 points but with the second half being Family Fortunes, there's a chance to catch up.

Name a Dance song that charted in the top 40 this year.
2020 has been good for very few things but has fortunately given us quite a few dance bops as shown by the wide range of available answers here. The most guessed however was the underrated TUNE that is 'Tequila' - a song that just about missed the top 20 but in the alternate universe of my personal chart it spent 20 weeks in the top 10. Another middling hit 'Fake Friends' which debuted PS1 to the world was also guessed 3 times. Unfortunately for Pavel and the UK in general 'We Got Love' didn't actually make the top 40, although to relate this to the previous question it would have if Christmas songs were banned from the chart. 25 - We Got Love [Sigala & Ella Henderson] [WRONG - song only made it to #42] b 2 - Tequila [Europa & Raye] n4yr, awardinary, AaronTM 2 - Fake Friends [PS1] paulgilb, rio309, Riser 1 - Pump It Up [Endor] M4NGO, CianS 1 - ILY (I Love You Baby) [Surf Mesa] chrissmith276, Bjork 1 - Lasting Lover [Sigala & James Arthur] vibe, Mack 1 - Looking for Me [Paul Woolford & Diplo] jlj, Jade 1 - Turn Me On [Riton & Oliver Heldens] Ansel, jimwatts 0 - Better Off Without You [Becky Hill & Shift K3Y] danvember 0 - Dancing in the Moonlight [Jübel] dj_time_e 0 - Be Kind [Marshmello & Halsey] PeteFromLeeds 0 - Heaven On My Mind [Becky Hill & Sigala] Nina West 0 - Roses (Imanbek Remix) [Saint Jhn] RabbitFurCoat 0 - Midnight [Hosh & 1979] StoneDragon 0 - Head & Heart [Joel Corry & MNEK] Dobbo 0 - I Miss U [Jax Jones & Au/Ra] Bré 0 - Know Your Worth [Khalid & Disclosure] King Rollo |

Not me picking the top answer again.
Also do I spy a slight mistake with Riton, it looks like two people gave that as their answer unless it’s a typo? |

I tried my best not to do any Googling on this quiz so am pleasantly surprised with two pointless answers from two!

Decided to pick one of the commercial dance hits I've actually enjoyed this year it particularly stands out as I never expected it to take off in such a way, or at all actually, when I first heard it. Shame that wasn't quite a pointless answer either but definitely could've gone worse.

Was tempted to change my answer to the new Meduza/Dermot track that charted on Friday - should have as would have been pointless!

Name an Australian performer (band or solo artist) with a top 40 hit.
Being half Australian myself I thought I'd give the country some much needed representation here, and as it happens there are quite a lot of Aussies who have crossed overseas. The top answer here is Midnight Oil who have just beaten Ariana & Sam Smith to #1 in the Australian album chart this week although overseas are mostly known for just the one song. Two other acts who only managed one big UK hit but were more successful at home got 2 answers in Rogue Traders and Vanessa Amorosi. 2 - Midnight Oil M4NGO, StoneDragon, Bré 1 - Rogue Traders n4yr, chrissmith276 1 - Vanessa Amorosi Nina West, CianS 0 - Lenka danvember 0 - Rob Dougan paulgilb 0 - Olivia Newton John b 0 - The Seekers dj_time_e 0 - Hook N Sling PeteFromLeeds 0 - Delta Goodrem awardinary 0 - Tina Arena vibe 0 - Rick Springfield Bjork 0 - Dannii Minogue jlj 0 - Madison Avenue rio309 0 - Vance Joy RabbitFurCoat 0 - Empire Of The Sun Ansel 0 - Rolf Harris AaronTM 0 - Deni Hines jimwatts 0 - Pendulum Dobbo 0 - Crowded House Riser 0 - Iggy Azalea Jade 0 - Sherbet King Rollo 0 - Darren Hayes Mack |

Hmm Idina Menzel and Michael Buble reached 39 last year with ‘Baby Its Cold Outside’ . Check official charts.
