Thank you to the 61 (SIXTY-ONE!!) of you who rated, results will begin tonight! I have counted all rates and it is very close at the top - not so much at the bottom! #14-16 coming up...
Predict, hype, etc.
Anywhere to smash!
Radioactive will be too low x
Anywhere to win
I expect me to be in the minority for the best Rita song and I'm not ashamed

Kicking things off we have our last-placed song by a long distance, "Lay Down Your Weapons". It was the second single that Rita featured on and followed an incredible 2012 for her. I do have to give it to her, as even with an artist as irrelevant as K Koke(?!), Rita still promoted it alongside him which helped it get a top twenty peak before plummeting immediately. The song itself is nothing spectacular and feels very dated now, chasing 2010 music trends three years too late, imitating the sounds of "Airplanes" and "Love the Way You Lie" from that year. It is the most-hated song here, scoring four -1s.
At #15 is another feature, this time Charles Hamilton's "New York Raining" which was released as a single from the soundtrack to the TV series 'Empire'. Rita sounds great on this but the song itself feels very dated, which I think is why it got as much hate here as it did. I personally think that it's part of its charm, this time sounding like it came straight out of the early 00s pop scene alongside Christina Milian and Samantha Mumba. This probably would have peaked higher in the UK chart if it was released during Rita's stint on the Voice UK, where it was premiered seven weeks prior on the live final with a performance by both artists.
Closing off this section is the first single where Rita is credited as the lead artist, "Shine Ya Light". It's probably the most divisive song in Rita's discography - personally, I don't hate it but it isn't my favourite song of hers and it isn't one that I have replayed that much since it was released. The music video for this was filmed in Rita's city of birth, Pristina, which she explained as an homage to Kosovo and to help put it on the map. It was a fourth consecutive top ten single from the album 'ORA' following a performance on the X Factor.
An easy last placer, well-deserved for a terrible track and the only bad moment in an otherwise fantastic discography for Rita.
New York Raining is underrated! Shine Ya Light has aged quite badly though so I'm not too gutted about its placing.
No loss for any of those tbh
I don't think 'Lay Down Your Weapons' is that bad, but wow it sounds so dated now. It happened because K Koke had been signed to Roc Nation (where Rita Ora was too) and this was the attempt to break him in the UK. The single he released before (Turn Back with Maverick Sabre) was ten times better than this, and he was dropped soon after. I think the problem was K Koke literally only rapped about one subject - his hard upbringing and had no real pop sensibilities. He needed to release a lighter-hearted track before trying something like this.
Not surprised to see it last, but probably shouldn't be (not when Poison is here).

UK chart peak: #22
12. "Coming Home" (with Sigma) - 7.2131 (Max: 11 - Nick F1, Dobbo / Min: 1 - Scene; 2 - blacksquare, Buttered Muffin)

UK chart peak: #18
In thirteenth place is "Body on Me", a collaboration with Chris Brown that was presumably intended to be the second single from Rita's second studio album until she parted ways with her label and lost all previous recordings. I actually think it's a very strong song and it feels quite well-remembered amongst the general public despite its limited success in the chart, following the move to an actual on-air/on-sale policy a couple of months before this was released. Looking at the ranking here, it looks too low but with an average over 7.0, you can't really complain. I would prefer it without Chris Brown's vocals on it but you can't have everything.
Next up is "Coming Home", Rita's collaboration with Sigma which was released while she was a judge on the X Factor. It's a drum'n'bass song at heart, a genre that Rita explored a lot on her debut album to great success but didn't quite repeat those successes with this as the popularity of the genre faded. I think it's a great feel-good song and didn't really rediscover it until I watched her stripped-back version of it at Radio 1's Big Weekend this year.
Just missing out on a place in the top 10 is "Radioactive", the final single to be released from 'ORA'. This has a huge chorus and it's something that differentiates it from a lot of the rest of the album. It became her first single to miss the official top 10 so it's slightly made up for that here with a healthy average rating.
Body On Me is ridiculously low!!!! It's aged SO well and I return to it lots Radioactive on the other hand has never been a big favourite of mine really
I wasn't exactly expecting "Body On Me" to do great but 13th isn't a little disappointing She sound so good on a slick R&B track and it's a sound that I wish she'd experiment with a bit more often (even though she's delivering amazing pop bangers right now so I can't really complain
I think my least favourite tracks aside from the K Koke collaboration would be "Coming Home" and "Poison" so hopefully the latter is out soon. I'm also both hoping and predicting that "I Will Never Let You Down" will win!!
Doing It to slay please
Body On me is a bit overrated, I'd probably have it a tad higher but not much. Radioactive tho nooo </3
10. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1fGOG3XXIQ - 7.4016 (Max: 11 - George.keh, SeanGrey, Scene / Min: 1 - ML Hammer95; 2 - Brébino)

9. "How We Do (Party)" - 7.7213 (Max: 11 - SamJudd, Mack / Min: -1 - Scene, 0 - blacksquare)
UK chart peak: #1
Two of Rita's biggest hits fall out here with "Poison" opening up the top 10. Intended as a fresh start following drama with Calvin Harris which caused Rita's first second album to be cancelled after they broke-up, it was a chart success, becoming Rita's sixth top five hit and has since been certified Gold. I do like it as a song but it is not the style of music that she should be making at all and if this were representative of her second second album, I'm glad we never got to hear it. Thankfully we have her third second album to look forward to in 2018, full of dance-pop songs that are ~still to come~ here.
At #9 is Rita's third consecutive UK #1 single, "How We Do (Party)" and the third song from 'ORA' to drop out. This is definitely one of her poppier efforts and despite the lyrical content in the chorus, is one of her older songs that I continue to hear on the radio. Musically, it is very similar in style to a couple of other hits from the period, notably Jessie J's "Domino" and Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night". It is a bit cheesy but it's a lot of fun and shows off her personality well. It became her first Billboard Hot 100 entry and remains her highest-peaking hit as a solo artist there after reaching #62 although she has out-peaked this with a featured credit which is still to come.
Poison has quite a weak chorus for me, I like it but didn't get behind it like I normally do with Rita's singles How We Do was the first Rita song I LOVED though, so infectious and the music channels never stopped playing it, loads of good memories
"How We Do (Party)" is FAR too low here!! I know it gets a bit of a hard time from some people but it is one of my ultimate favourite party tunes. It never fails to put me in a good mood and is just so catchy, I think it's in my top three tracks of hers
question about Poison, according to wiki it was written by Kate Nash & Julia Michaels
sounds like a weird collaboration
anyone can confirm
never heard that kate nash had written anything for any other artist
How We Do (Party) was the ultimate hit chasing song released that year! Mixed feelings about that as it's SO Americanised and Last Friday Night was the original soundalike track but it's still a bop whenever I hear it!
Poison was an odd one as a standalone track it was decent but like others have said it wasn't the type of track I wanted an album's worth of and probably rightfully dropped off the charts fairly quickly.
Body On Me is too low :/
How We Do sounds more and more dated as time goes by but still a good jam.
Hope (and think) that I Will Never Let You Down wins out of those remaining.
R.I.P. or Hot Right Now to win.
Anywhere to win
Echoing all of the "Body On Me is way too low" comments Listened to it for the first time in quite a while the other day and it still sounds so good!
"I Will Never Let You Down" is clearly winning and rightfully so I assume "Anywhere" will be runner-up!
"Your Song" is way too high already
hoping for black widow to win
Hot Right Now, RIP and Black Widow I expect to be the next three
Radioactive and How We Do too low
8. "Lonely Together" (with Avicii) - 7.8934 (Max: 11 - danG; 10 - Josh!, George.keh, Chapman, cqmerqn, Liam, JosephStyles, THEO., burbe, BridgeCow, Calum, Cody, ElectroBoy, kye / Min: -1 - Davidson; 2 - Buttered Muffin)
UK chart peak: #4
In eighth place is one of Rita's three top ten singles from this year and the first of the three to drop out. "Lonely Together" is a collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii and features distorted vocals from Rita. It took a long time for me to get used to her voice on this but there's a beautiful acoustic version that she's recorded and you can stream it https://open.spotify.com/album/0HYuE13yf1uI1i2voieXMA if you still can't get used to her vocals on the official version. The chorus is incredibly uplifting and anthemic and she really goes for it when she's performed it live. Currently, I'd place it in my top three of hers ever and I hope it goes on to become a classic. It became a top ten hit for the pair in September and has since spent eight weeks there, including three at its #4 peak while it peaked one place higher at #3 in Avicii's native Sweden.
Lonely Together is too high.
Expected Lonely Together to be top 5 at the least!
7. "R.I.P." (ft. Tinie Tempah) - 7.9672 (Max: 11 - spapedVop, HarryEzra / Min: 1 - Tawdry Hepburn; 3 - blacksquare)
UK chart peak: #1
Another #1 single drops out here, this time Rita's debut single as a lead artist featuring the biggest UK rapper at the time, Tinie Tempah. It is very heavily influenced by the drum'n'bass and dubstep sounds that were popular at the time, similar to her single that preceded this, "Hot Right Now", her first feature single. The song was written by Drake although it was originally intended for Rihanna and it heavily interpolates the song "Heartbeat" (specifically the Chase & Status remix) by Nneka - if you haven't heard this song, https://open.spotify.com/album/5D3UJO1mvuPvYRlvYnCFku, you won't regret it. As a song, I think it is a very powerful statement to put out as her first single but it works incredibly well and her vocal chemistry with Tinie really shines through. It's definitely something that some of today's up and coming artists should take of, especially the sample (hi Raye), taking a song that wasn't a huge hit when it was originally released and ramping it up even more. I thought it would be a lot more divisive here but it only received five scores below a 5. The song went straight to #1 in the UK, spending two weeks there, still her longest reign at the top of the chart - will "Anywhere" go on to beat that (if it becomes #1)?
R.I.P. is fab but hasn't aged too well for me. Lonely Together is fantastic though, absolutely love it the pitched vocals make no difference to me whatsoever either!
R.I.P. definitely too low, still her signature song for me.
R.I.P is still great! I'm still really loving Lonely Together too but I wouldn't say it will go down as a Rita classic.
6. "Doing It" (with Charli XCX) - 7.9836 (Max: 11 - blacksquare, Cameron, all is vanity., Brébino, Cucumberella / Min: -1 - Dobbo; 0 - ML Hammer95)
UK chart peak: #8
Missing out on a place in the top five is "Doing It", Rita's first collaboration with indiepopstar Charli XCX. I absolutely loved this at the time of release and I still get a kick out of it when I go back to it. It works really well as a duet with both artists taking it in turn to sing the verses and choruses and overall it's just a lot of fun - something that was definitely needed back when it was released following the chart domination of three male solo artists the previous year. Unfortunately it isn't that well-remembered by the general public but it makes up for it here, becoming the highest song to not score an average of over 8.0 and the highest with a -1 score. The track was originally released as a solo Charli song on her second album 'Sucker' until her previous single flopped and they decided to re-record this song with Rita to get another chart smash - it worked the trick and became a top ten single for two weeks in February 2015 but fell down the chart fairly quickly afterwards.
Anywhere or IWNLYD FTW!
Awful. Which is even more surprising considering I normally like most of Charli's stuff even more than Rita's.
I didn't expect Hot Right Now to finish this high actually but I guess it was her first hit so is thought of fondly.
Doing It is her most overrated, just never really got into it :/
Top five tomorrow. Remaining songs:
"Anywhere"
"Black Widow" (with Iggy Azalea)
"Hot Right Now" (with DJ Fresh)

"Your Song"

5. "Your Song" - 8.2213 (Max: 11 - UltraReputation, Calum and BiLLYx / Min: 3 - jase.; 4 - BridgeCow, Dobbo)
UK chart peak: #7
Kicking off the top five is "Your Song", Rita's 2017 comeback single and the lead single from her upcoming second album. It was her first release in 18 months and it's safe to say that anticipation for new music was very high - but whether she would get a hit after such a long break was the question. Thankfully, Rita came and slayed us all with one of the songs of the summer (the eighth biggest, according to the Official Charts, and the biggest by a solo female!) Admittedly, it has been overplayed to death this year but that doesn't stop Buzzjack, as the song received three 11s and nine 10s here. Musically, it is very different to pretty much everything that she's done previously with only maybe "I Will Never Let You Down" being comparable to it with its similar laid back vibes. "Your Song" was co-written by MOR favourite Steve Mac along with Ed Sheeran (hence the appearance of his favourite lyric 'kissing my mouth') and he also provides backing vocals during the chorus. It peaked at #7 for three non-consecutive weeks and spent a total of seven weeks in the top ten, which was her longest-running top ten hit until "Lonely Together" broke that record this week.
Your Song Such a huge and deserved comeback!
Your Song outdid all of my expectations chart-wise, was brilliant to see it blossom into a genuine smash! It's a great song too, very much on-trend without being copycat.
Your Song is great
Your Song <3
4. "Hot Right Now" (with DJ Fresh) - 8.2787 (Max: 11 - Jade, ML Hammer95, Liam / Min: 4 - blacksquare; 5 - NocheLuna, Cremey)
UK chart peak: #1
Perhaps surprisingly making it all the way to fourth place is "Hot Right Now", the first ever chart hit and the introduction to the superstar that is Rita Ora. DJ Fresh was one of the biggest DJs in the UK back in 2012 and there was plenty of hype for his follow-up to the #1 smash "Louder" - and it did not disappoint. Another drum'n'bass banger, the song features some of Rita's most iconic lyrics ("you got the magic numbers on your speed dial and you could barely drop a name, but meanwhile") and is definitely my favourite from her debut era - and Buzzjack's too as it ranks the highest here. It became her first of four (to date) UK number one singles in February 2012.
'Hot Right Now' is an absolute banger I'm pleasantly surprised to see it as high as 4th because I didn't notice it picking up many 9s or 10s.
I quite like Hot Right Now but it's much too high for me, I'd put it quite near the bottom actually! Never totally loved it.
The perfect top 3
Wow at Hot Right Now being so high! It is quite a banger tbf
Come on Anywhere
3. "Black Widow" (with Iggy Azalea) - 8.3852 (Max: 11 - darkstar79, Bjork, Cody, Addy! / Min: 4 - ElectroBoy; 6 - blacksquare, jase., Cameron, ML Hammer95, leewallace, Brébino, Cucumberella)
UK chart peak: #4
In bronze medal position is the highest placed feature credit from Rita, meaning the top two is exclusively Rita solo songs. This has really surprised me with how high it's placed, receiving only one score below 5.0. I'm very pleased though, it's an excellent song and Rita really steals the limelight from Iggy here and I'm glad to see it's so well-regarded by Buzzjack, despite Iggy's own reputation going down the drain. The song was co-written with Katy Perry for her 'Prism' album although deemed it too similar to her own hit "Dark Horse" and decided to allow Iggy to have it on her own album - 'The New Classic'. The comparisons are understandable but the huge success of "Dark Horse" allowed "Black Widow" to smash as much as it did. It originally charted in the UK after the album's release and was then announced as the follow-up to Iggy's global smash hit "Fancy", featuring herself and Charli XCX re-enacting the classic 90s high school movie 'Clueless' - so Iggy decided to follow it up with the music video to "Black Widow" paying homage to another movie, this time 2003's 'Kill Bill'. It went on to become a huge hit for both artists, becoming Rita's biggest hit to date in the US where it peaked at #3 and was another top five for her in the UK, peaking one place lower at #4.
Black Widow was and still is amazing
"Anywhere" vs. "I Will Never Let You Down"
Which song will win? Top two coming before The X Factor.
Anywhere to win plx
Ahhh drop the results theo
Perfect Top 2, I'll be pleased with either winning *.*
Pleasantly surprised to see Black Widow as high as that!
"Anywhere"
or
"I Will Never Let You Down"

2. "I Will Never Let You Down" - 9.1230 (Max: 11 - Josh!, THEO., Jay, Jack, Juliano, Jonjo, Tawdry Hepburn, jase., NocheLuna, Alpha., Rob S / Min: 5 - all is vanity., danG)
UK chart peak: #1
Just missing out on the title of best Rita Ora song in silver medal position is "I Will Never Let You Down". The winner was never not going to be one of these two songs and it changed a lot during the voting, with this song leading until Monday when it received a second score of five which secured the win for "Anywhere". Despite that, it still received seventeen 10s, two more than "Anywhere" and eleven 11s to contribute to an incredible average over 9.0. This is currently my personal favourite Rita song, although "Anywhere" is very close to taking that title, so it's a deserving top two here. This was quite a big change in direction for Rita following the drum'n'bass sounds of her first two singles and the Max Martin-wannabe "How We Do (Party)" from 'ORA' and pointed towards her releasing an album full of dance-pop bangers, which I personally would have loved to hear. Unfortunately, the album was put on hold when Calvin Harris, the sole writer and producer of "I Will Never Let You Down" and Rita's ex-boyfriend decided that she could no longer release the songs that he had written for her. At least we got this summer smash from her, her first Platinum-certified single, which has since been joined by both "Hot Right Now" and "Your Song" in that club. We've been waiting for her mythical second album for three-and-a-half years now and after restarting her career in both 2015 and 2017, it is due to finally arrive in 2018. "I Will Never Let You Down" went straight to #1 in the UK, becoming Rita's fourth #1 which was then a record for a British female soloist, tied with Geri Halliwell, although both have since been overtaken by Cheryl and then Jess Glynne. Hopefully "Anywhere" can return her to being level with those two icons.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. "Anywhere" - 9.2377 (Max: 11 - Chapman, cqmerqn, Joe., JosephStyles, Nick Jonas, burbe, BridgeCow, lotita, Cremey, ElectroBoy, kye, Klumzee, gooddelta, TS0301, RobBob, CardiiB / Min: 5 - Dobbo, ML Hammer95)
UK chart peak: #5
Which means that your winner is "Anywhere"! It received a total of fifteen 10s and sixteen 11s, meaning that over a quarter of voters awarded it top marks. It's an incredible slice of electropop from Rita and shows off her vocals, as seen by her recent live performances of it on the Jonathan Ross Show and the X Factor. The song builds throughout, climaxing at the drop which again features a distorted vocal effect. The chorus on this is such an earworm, written by the same people as "Lonely Together" along with Swedish DJ Alesso, who also produced the song. Musically it is very similar to that song although this is the clear favourite of the two here, most likely due to people preferring the more natural vocals during the verses. The music video features Rita in many different locations around New York City, which is only actually 2,500 miles from L.A. and she serves us many flawless looks throughout. The song was only released a little over three weeks ago but has so far reached #5 in the Official Chart, becoming Rita's eighth UK top five single, another joint record for a British female solist, shared with Cheryl, Ellie Goulding and Leona Lewis. I'm very surprised that a Rita song has managed to get such universal praise but for an artist that I didn't realise had that big a fanbase, I'm pleased that she finally has a song that unites lovers of pretty much all genres. It's a bit too early to say whether this will go down as future classic but this is definitely one of my songs of the year and a deserving winner here.

Thank you to everyone who voted and commented!
Rita is huge this era.
Thanks for this! So glad Anywhere won.
YASSSSSSS, what a great winner it may be very early in its life but Anywhere is just undeniable, a totally worthy winner. IWNLYD would've been just as deserving though, an absolute anthem
Oh Buzzjack what have you done
TALENT WINS
A talented song won!
The right song won! 'I Will Never Let You Down' is the perfect #2 as well but 'Body on Me' should have been #3 (sorry not sorry).
That's a perfect top 2 also thrilled that Black Widow is top 5 as well!
I wonder where the Sean Paul feat. Rita single will land on here in a few weeks time
I am loving "Anywhere" at the moment but it's way too recent to be her overall #1 for me "I Will Never Let You Down" is THAT song and the likes of "Body On Me", "Black Widow" and "Doing It" have all stood the test of time personally too.
Shocked and pleased at "Your Song" coming top five here though! It probably wouldn't be that high for me but I always thought it was a bit disliked on Buzzjack and I've loved it since the first listen so I'm glad to see it get the recognition it deserves
Thank you Theo.! Absolutely loved taking part in this and reading your amaze commentary! Woulda preferred IWNLYD to win, but I am not moaning or begrudging an 'Anywhere' win as it's outstanding.
Woulda loved to have seen 'Body On Me' place higher, but we cant always get our own way, can we?
Great winner Anywhere is easily my third favourite of hers now (after R.I.P & How We Do (Party) in that order)
Thanks for running this THEO it was ran really smoothly
The fact "Your Song" is top 5 and "Poison" is only #10 is truly repugnant
I thought IWYNLD would be #01 but I really can't complain! Her two best records are #01 and #02 so what a pleasing result
Thanks for running this, THEO!
