BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: liamk97 14th August 2017, 10:01 AM

P!nk makes her musical comeback with 'What About Us', her first lead single in 5 years, and joins Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris as the top contenders for this week's #1. Other popular new releases include Avicii's 'Without You' (featuring vocals by Sandro Cavazza), Ella Eyre's 'Ego' (featuring Ty Dolla $ign), Liam Gallagher's 'For What It's Worth' and Stefflon Don & French Montana's 'Hurtin' Me'. Strong climbs could be in store for The Script's 'Rain' and James Hype's 'More Than Friends' - the latter a cover of En Vogue's 'Don't Let Go (Love)'.

In a low sales week for the albums, can Kesha take advantage and debut at #1 with Rainbow? Glen Campbell's latest album Adios may also have a chance at climbing to #1 following his passing last week, or perhaps Ed Sheeran will remain on top. Other new releases include albums from Chip, David Rawling, Martine McCutcheon and RAT BOY. This Wednesday (16th) marks 40 years since the death of Elvis Presley, so expect possible re-entries from him as well as the new release 40 Years On: Greatest Hits & More.

This and I'll be stressed until Friday lol.

Posted by: Mart!n 14th August 2017, 10:57 AM

Nice to see a female battle for the #1 this week, Dua Lipa should take it I imagine, later in the week, in the singles chart. Glen Campbell will probably bag the #1 album. Not too sure about Kesha's album but it would be nice seeing female artists taking the lead in both charts.

Posted by: 360Jupiter 14th August 2017, 11:00 AM

For Pink to even be challenging for #1 17 years into her career is really impressive. I never would have thought back in 2001 that of the big pop girls at the time, she would be the one to last longest at the top of her game, over the likes of Britney and Christina.

Posted by: Scene 14th August 2017, 11:47 AM

Hopefully Dua can sneak into the top 3 in the albums.

Posted by: cqmerqn 14th August 2017, 11:53 AM

Imagine if they didn't get spotify data by Friday (insert dead emoji)

But yeah, Dua should be #2 in first mids with P!nk at #1. So eager for some news!

Posted by: KY420 14th August 2017, 11:59 AM

Louis Tomlinson looks good for Top 10 this week. New peaks look likely for Sorry not Sorry and Instruction. I've actually got Mi Gente down for 10th spot this week just edging those 2 out.

Dua looks good for Number 1. All in all a very interesting week. Most interesting for a while.

Posted by: blacksquare 14th August 2017, 01:06 PM

Dua Lipa at the top, although only just (less than 1k) but I imagine she'll pull away over the week. #queen

Already? good sign! and that's without Spotify at least of one day which give her another 2Kish.

Could people stop buying Elvis albums please, Kesha is top five at least but sales are v close between 1-4

Posted by: Supercell 14th August 2017, 01:37 PM

Given P!nk is struggling still on Spotify for the time being I think Dua Lipa has this in the bag. Think P!nk will easily remain in the top 5 though, wouldn't be surprised if she ends up at no.3 in the end if her download sales hold up. Still an amazing achievement for her though this far into her career.

Not yesterday for sure, even when everything is OK it's always a day behind...

Posted by: ___∆___ 14th August 2017, 04:11 PM

What an achievement for Dua - after a shaky start to her career, multiple single releases and delays to the album to be heading for the top is incredible and will help her album pick up sales too.

Posted by: Lenny 14th August 2017, 04:39 PM

Happy for Dua if she does pull this off, she's a decent artist who stands out from the crowd. I don't think "New Rules" has anything special that the other singles didn't have and it is very lucky to take advantage of the low sales climate but still an incredible achievement.

Re-recycled indeed, this isn't even a new compilation.
Obviously, having the anniversary of his death at a time when hardly anyone buys albums is a help though.

#6 debut for Pink would still be brilliant, 'Trouble' only peaked at #7 (underrated gem wub.gif) and RYG only #13.

I think Pink could maintain a top 3 position if increased airplay this week further helps her iTunes performance.

"The Nation's Favourite Elvis Song" is getting an airing on ITV3 at 11pm on Wednesday ( the anniversary of his passing ), an ITV3 broadcast may not make too much difference though. It is looking like Ed may triumph again which surprises me as I thought the Glen Campbell Album would have continued to sell as it did Wed/Thu last week.

Not surprised Pink has slipped to 3 especially as the top 2 aren't effected by ACR Andhave huge leads over her

Kesha coming for her highest charting album! Can't believe her second only made #60.

do we reckon P!nk can hold #3? I hope so sad.gif

The top 3 are definitely 100% accurate! Even if 'Despacito' would possibly still be number 1 under the old chart rules...

Good to see Dua Lipa pulling ahead and hopefully she's on course for being number 1 on Friday...

Posted by: pippa 15th August 2017, 03:15 PM

It would be wonderful if Pink can retain a top 3 position, but i have a feeling it will be a top 5 finish for her, this is still great for her.
I would also hope Louis Tomlinson can hold a top 10 position this week to secure his 2nd top 10 solo hit.

So happy for Kesha to be back in the top 5 album chart, huge improvement on her Warrior album chart placement. It was a welcoming surprise to see Martine McCutcheon in the top 15 in the first set of midweeks and even better to see her improve her position today. For both Kesha and Martine, i really hope they don't have huge 2nd week decreases and fall big in next weeks chart.

I think Martine could easily fall down to the 60's or 70's, Kesha I think could end up around #35 next week

Possibly top 20 or even top 10 but he'll struggle to be top 5.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 15th August 2017, 04:38 PM

I can see P!nk ending up at #5 (still good!)

Eager for 'Instruction' to penetrate the top 10, hopefully with it now making decent strides on iTunes and if it can keep building on streams it couldn't be impossible?

Maybe have chance to debut Top 40 depend on the quality of new song.

TBH, I don't think quality will make that much difference regarding its initial chart position. Bieber is so well established there will be plenty of fans that would buy it based on his name alone on release. Quality will definitely affect its longevity however.

Pleased to see Martine hanging on in the Top 15, it's now Ł4.99 on iTunes and Amazon so hopefully that will give it a few more sales.

Warrior sold 5,525 to debut at #66 in December 2012, so to see Rainbow selling more in week 1 with 2 days left is fantastic wub.gif

Posted by: cqmerqn 16th August 2017, 02:38 PM

Why did Warrior sell so poorly?

Posted by: liamk97 16th August 2017, 02:52 PM

I did hope Elvis could get #1 but it looks like Ed will overtake, unless today sees Elvis' sales receive an increase.

No idea, it's always baffled me! A late Q4 release can't have helped but still drama.gif

Posted by: pippa 16th August 2017, 03:09 PM

I do hope Martine McCutcheon can hold that top 20 position. I would believe sales in the region of 11-20 are very close.

Why did Warrior sell so poorly?

She was still being marketed as a trashy dance pop artist then, which doesn't typically shift albums unless there's huge singles like Tik Tok behind it (and Die Young really wasn't on that same level) thus it got completely lost in the depths of Q4

Glad Rainbow's outdoing that at least!

New Rules lead getting bigger. wub.gif

But still keep streaming New Rules on Spotify, Apple Music, and other audio streaming site ten times a day to secure the lead.

Elvis is mentioned everywhere today and the 50 GH is TV advertised so he may just hold on. Such low sales though. sad.gif

Also she really struggled to sell her debut album, even with a few bigger hits on it.

I do think Rainbow could actually have decent longevity if they execute the campaign well enough

We've got a little bit more data now, including the ACR status of each song. The following are looking to be on ACR as of next week at this rate:

Wild Thoughts
Unforgettable
Crying in the Club
Power

Your Song would be heading that way too but it's registered an increase so far this week so should escape it!

I actually really hope Elvis can hold onto the #1 album, it's kind of cool to have a #1 album that no one saw coming at all. Plus it'd extend his record as the solo artist with the most #1s.

Depends how close Unforgettable is to Despacito/Wild Thoughts. If it's within 500 odd you'd expect P!nk to fall below all 3. Shame, as I was hoping she'd hold 3rd for my Predictor score.
