I'm so glad I decided to watch this definitely understated and yet immensely engrossing drama.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3429354/ Surprised there wasn't a thread on here already. The appearance of Steve Coogan at the end was an absolute delight - and yet it didn't detract from the drama itself - or from the brilliant performance from Jason Watkins. |

Going to try and catch this over the weekend. I was engrossed by the Jeffries part of the case when it was happening, and the reviews all sound excellent, so will definitely be trying to catch up on this - as well as 7 episodes of The Missing!

I remember reading the newspapers at work and the girl across from me said 'you can tell he's guilty just by looking at him'. I despise it when just because someone looks a little different - they're immediately judged! This guy went through hell and yet didn't want to see himself as a victim. I do think that in Christopher's case - he had a circle of fantastic friends who knew the real man. Can you imagine someone going through that who was truly a loner - with no friends to believe in him? BTW - You won't regret watching this - its the best drama I've seen all year. |

Yes that's why the case really struck with me. The press had decided he was guilty, and it became even more intriguing when it's likely that the police tipped them off to hound him! This was about 6 months before all the NOTW stuff came to light too. |

Just finished watching tonight's episode and it was indeed very good. Everybody came out of it well apart from the tabloid press which is a pretty fair representation of what happened.
If Jefferies had actually been charged then the first thing his defence would have done would have been to try and get the case thrown out because the press coverage would have meant he couldn't get a fair trial. One of these days that WILL happen with the potential consequence that a murderer or rapist will get away with it. |
