Hello and welcome once again to Darpabrak, Altyr Muunilinst. Bet you didn't think you'd be back here so soon!! You've all been fervently scouring your respective nations for the best entry this past week and now we are finally ready to declare the contest OPEN. A RECORD BREAKING 65 nations entered this month, meaning that we have broken yet another record, and for this one we didn't even have to do A THING. It also means that once again there will be a sole AQ this month, which is the following entry from Altyr Muunilinst:

The Semi final stage of the contest will take place from the moment this thread is posted until 23:59PM (GMT) on SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15TH, 2015. No extensions will be made and anyone who fails to vote will face the full penalty's under BJSC law, without exception. PLEASE DO NOT VOTE IN THE OPPOSING SEMI FINAL and of course PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR YOURSELF. There will be FIFTEENqualifiers from each semi final.

Of the below 64 tracks, less than half will make it through to the final, so it's tougher than ever to make it through and having had a listen to most everything the quality this month is very, very high. The title of my song should be 'Tide: The Paradox Effect' while people are pointing out errors ~ (actually think 'The Paradox Effect' is possibly just the name of the VIDEO but I prefer the full name anyway).

Plenty of songs I already know this month but mostly just cos I listened to them for other people. A lot of those are in the other semi so I think I'm in the semi I know LESS of, though I still already know 7 of the other 31 songs.

RLLLLY don't get how 'Adelante' was allowed when y'all made a point of kicking out The Orb? 'Adelante' charted higher, is more recent and surely known to more people than 'Little Fluffy Clouds'?

(also sry Totto lol, not sure why you thought it'd be vetoed though as I don't see how it ticks any of the boxes )

I reckon Little Fluffy Clouds would have more of a following then Adelante (which despite being number 2 at the time isn't that well thought of). These old hits are a toughie imo, I think anything that was top 30 in the UK should be vetoed regardless.

I think they would both be quite well known among their respective genre fans. But either way a UK #2 single from a very well known dance act shouldn't be able to escape a veto though, surely? Not that it matters too much as I can't imagine Adelante will stand a chance of winning I guess.

I think I'm with Jester in so much as a rule for no UK top xx hits would be very easy to introduce.

If all pedantic requests are being fixed I might as well throw in another 'few' The artist is missing entirely from Bignia-Zaragovina's song, '{MLP:FIM}' is just a tag on the video. The artist is Daniel Ingram according to the video description. Also Utopia's artist should be Brenmar without the 'k', Quintessa's remixer should be Glastrophobie, Llewandia's artist should be Antonio Giacca and PRoJ's should be Walking On Cars. FSR Rontvia's song should be 'Castle In The Snow', Danaelanda's should be 'Rumors' (well it SHOULDN'T be but that is the spelling unforch ~), Cumulonimbia's should have an '(Ascent)' after 'An Ending' and Séyetana's should be 'Lightshy' as one word. And the links for Ajanaeda and Skall's songs don't work, Ajanaeda's has been copied over with a '...' in the link and Skall's video seems to have been taken down.

(I think that covers everything that hasn't been pointed out already ~ that turned into more of a wall of text than I was hoping lol sorry John)

Incidentally I was going to send a song by Brenmar a few months ago but it wasn't uploaded anywhere so I couldn't! Can't even remember what the song was called now oop.

If you're looking for a correct tag for that one I would either suggest Archie, seeing as that's the name of the remixer, or you could use 'Rebecca Shoichet' as that's the name of the unknown who performed it in the show according to wiki, and this is a remix of that.

Excellent to see PVRIS in here, hoping that can be Hushkanukia's first qualifier.

For me however, the ONE TIME where I choose to send dancey electro and the entire dancebloc is in the other semi. Not going to completely write it off as I do think 'Lightshy' can gain fans outside that but that does make me feel a lot less safer, particularly with so many people here.

Is the artist not Daniel Ingram as per my wall of text pedantry post? There are several other uploads of remixes of 'Love Is In Bloom' which credit Daniel Ingram as the artist, and he is mentioned in the YouTube description. I won't claim to be an expert on random pony remixes though so I don't know

I also checked if the song is on iTunes and it is there with Daniel Ingram as the artist

I'm listening through semi 2 now (I won't vote tonight though, might actually listen to the songs more than once before voting this time) - that Land of DW song is quite a JAM, needs to be their first qualifier surely But with Danaelanda and Ethanola in the other semi it's immediately disadvantaged a bit Also Bignia's song is genuinely quite good, I'm not sure if I'm surprised or disappointed. Or both. Kinda reminds me of 'U Sure Do' by Strike (which is a tune).

Yeah 'Maybe I Like It' is actually pretty good, best Ashton entry for like a year. And not really trashy at all?

I know Jester said his song sounded uncannily like an XF winner - why did it have to be James out of all the possible ones? It's not as unbearable as James Arthur but still.

I think I had heard it before but I wasn't hugely familiar with it (I realise I was moaning about it being too well-known earlier But that was only because it was allowed while The Orb wasn't when I think the latter is less likely to be well-known, individually I don't mind 'Adelante' being allowed).

I'm going to listen through my top 15 or so one more time and then vote probably tomorrow. Yay. The quality across the board is much better this month than last month, though I fear quite a lot of my faves across both semis are at risk of DNQing.

Bellamia's song is like a CLONE of Cher Lloyd's 'Sirens'. This is of course an incredible thing because that song is an absolute beauty I would be very shocked if this failed to qualify (and did decently in the final).

I wouldn't say semi 2 is the more competitive one at all, there are far more complete no-hopers than there are in semi 1 IMO.

I am always pessimistic about your chances of qualifying because I've been let down too many times before 'Crypt' is an absolutely ESSENTIAL qualifier though.

I think I'll be hoping that the current odds/predictions are wrong more than ever as (asides from the obvious of myself) a lot of the supposed 'no hopers' here are really good

I agree the quality of this contest is remarkable, to think that I was struggling to find 10 songs to vote for in the first few contests I entered, now there’s >20 tracks that I could easily award points. The current voting for 10 points system just feels so inadequate considering the standard and number of entrants...

Given that the Eurovision is based 50:50 on televotes and national juries (in most countries) ~ perhaps a voting system of 50% 12,10,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 and 50% rating the all entries out of 10?! I don’t know how feasible something like that would be though.
