09 - Ciara - Get Up
(1,089,503, peaked at number 1 for a week in October) Chart Run: 18-16-14-9-6-5-5-4-4-3-2-2-2-2-{1}-18-19-27-37-39-39>21 weeks The album version is SO much better than the video This song absolutely DOMINATED my charts this autumn, with one of the longest top ten chart runs EVER However, it built up its toll, and set a record for biggest fall from number one the week after it finally got the peak it deserved |

08 - Fergie - Big Girls Don't Cry
(1,091,755, peaked at number one for two weeks in December, still charting, all that is crossed out does not count towards sales) Chart Run: 3-{1}-1- This beautiful ballad showed a softer side to Fergie and it NEEDS RELEASING However, a little b*tch named Jordan McCoy will probably put a spanner in the works with due regards to THAT one (), so I will have to make do with it being an album track Christmas number one |

07 - Ciara - Promise
(1,174,215, peaked at number one for three weeks in December, still charting, all that is crossed out does not count towards sales) Chart Run: 40-34-18-16-8-4-3-2-{1}-1-1-2-4- Ciara's first ballad to receive PROPER release *cough*AndI*cough* really shows Ciara's new maturity. It's a wonderful old school slow jam and I absolutely adored it, even if it did take a while to grow |

06 - Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie
(1,272,951, peaked at number 2 for a week in May, returned to number 2 for three weeks from June to July) Chart Run: 40-15-5-3-3-3-3-{2}-9-6-12-2-2-2-6-11-18-24-24-24-27-22-29-32-34-37-36>27 weeks The highest entry in this chart to not reach number one, Shakira was cruelly denied on two occassions from number one - the first came when Fort Minor jumped 18-1 with the fantastic 'Where'd You Go' after she'd spent 4 weeks at number 3, and the second (and MUCH more cruel occassion) came when Xtina debuted at number one! The smash hit song of the summer, scoring 5 weeks at number one in the official chart and STILL charting into 2007, most people can't help but wonder why those Hips Don't Die! |

05 - Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland - Promiscuous
(1,391,422, peaked at number one for a week in June) Chart Run: 8-7-{1}-4-7-7-12-5-3-3-4-4-4-5-3-2-6-11-19-36>20 weeks In retrospect, I prefer Maneater But this was easily the best hip hop song of 2006 and I adored it |

04 - Fort Minor feat. Holly Brook - Where'd You Go?
(1,561,400, peaked at number one for two weeks in May) Chart Run: 18-{1}-1-2-5-3-5-5-4-5-4-6-10-16-19-34>16 weeks Following from the hip hop song of the year we have the rap song of the year. A beautiful song, a story of heartbreak in long-distance relationships, this is the only song that brought me to tears in 2006 |

So...just two songs left.
Will it be the Scissor Sisters or Prince? I Don't Feel Like Dancin' or Black Sweat? It was very close... 02 - Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (2,107,542, peaked at number one for a week in August, returned to number one for 6 weeks from September to October) Chart Run: 2-3-{1}-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-4-19-23-30-38>15 weeks This smash fully proved that the Scissor Sisters weren't one hit wonders and this little pop gem secured 7 non-consecutive weeks at number one to draw with Xtina for the longest time in the penthouse in 2006 |

01 - Prince - Black Sweat
(2,112,872, peaked at number one for a week in March, returned to number one for a week in April) Chart Run: 10-2-{1}-2-1-2-4-10-22-23-25-34-23-32-40-31-27-29-24-28-28-28-30-31-30-30-27-15-15-24-25-26-25-30-37-32-39-37-37-35-31-28-28-22>44+ weeks This amazing minimalist funk jam from Prince scored the longest run of 2006 and the number one spot of 2006, even though there were only 5,330 copies between Prince and the Scissor Sisters It was claimed on the second last day of 2006 when Prince pulled into the lead over the Scissors |
