What a mess! Rumours are the Reference Group actually rejected the order and swapped a couple of countries around, and with the news of the delay it could be true.

Perhaps their running order was quite biased towards their Nordic friends.

I don't really get why you'd reject an order/how random it'd have to be for TPTB to throw it out so I'm more inclined to believe it just isn't finalised yet.

russia going right after san marino. i think this seals the deal for both of the countries haha
if this undermines czech republic's chances for going through i will not be happy tho the first ~12 minutes in the semi one are going to be pretty bleak ;_; but hopefully with one of the top 3 songs of the year (hungary, duh) going next, situation will change~ |

Well I just hope the longer semi has people setting in for fatigue for the last two songs in semi 2. Macedonia may have got a chance back.
If this sees Greece out I won't be happy. All countries with 100% Q records to keep them please. |

I think we will lose one of the group of Hungary, Croatia, The Netherlands and Armenia now that they are all drawn together and I'd probably have to go with Hungary missing out. Czech Republic will stand out very nicely between Russia and Cyprus, but I'd still have preferred a later running order for them as they are very borderline. Bosnia & Herzegovina are even safer now with that draw and love the fact that the most recent addition to Warner Music Sweden's artist roster has got the pimp slot, although it was always going to be between Malta and Iceland anyway you would've thought.
Didn't see the Latvia opening coming, but listening to the recap that draw does wonders for Israel as it really stands out and I think that could be sneaking through now. Lithuania are even safer now, and I'm still shocked Donny has such poor odds - if this was Sweden's entry everyone would be calling top 10 in the final. Macedonia look safer now too, originally had them sneaking through and I still think they will. Australia of course get the best slot possible and Bulgaria should hopefully stand out in that 11-15 area as long as Romania don't become too novelty in their staging and take all the attention. So pleased for Laura and I think she could be going through now as I don't think none of the last three in a semi have ever not qualified at least since 2009 and I can't see Georgia and Albania doing it. |

Greece in the death slot will hopefully help get kicked out of the final, they really are at the mercy of the dyaspora. Relatively strong year, I'll be furious if his gets in even over a complete outsider like Moldova.

Bosnia and Belgium are the obvious biggest winners from that draw with Greece, Hungary and probably Poland as the biggest losers. I'd hazard a guess at the breaks being after the 6th and 13th songs so the Dutch and Bulgarians ought to be a bit more confident if that's the case.

Fans of STATS, look this way!!
I've compiled a chart of the semis since the two semi final system was introduced and highlighted all the qualifiers, to see if there are any patterns for qualifying from the running order. Best position to qualify: #14 (7 Q's out of 8), #07, #10, #12, #15 (6 Q's out of 8) Worst position to qualify: #04, #11 (1 Q out of 8), #01, #03 (2 Q's out of 8) Also worth to note that positions #17, #18 and #19 have all qualified when there has been enough participants, so good news for Bosnia & Herzegovina and Malta! Best position to qualify: #13 (7 Q's out of 8), #01, #06, #14 (6 Q's out of 8) Worst position to qualify: #05 (2 Q's out of 8) Interestingly, the only time a song hasn't qualified from #13 was Bulgaria with Miro! I know running order isn't the be all and end all for qualifying, as a good song will qualify from any position, but I find it interesting that going first in semi 1 is usually a bad thing but going first in semi 2 is quite good for your chances! |

Ah, I was already too nervous for Cyprus. But that is an interesting lot of stats, I'll look forward to seeing what goes against those patterns in May.
