I can see Radio One playlisting Peanut Butter Jelly by Galantis today. It's been featured in the advertisements for their Summer mixes and the video was just released yesterday.

Example is another one I'd be surprised to not see play listed after he was TOTD the other day. I can't remember if the new Aleeso song has been play listed yet but Radio One seems keen on it already

I'm really confused about impact dates for "new" songs now. Impact dates make sense for singles which are previously available on an album, but the Carly song has already been released (ahead of the album) so surely its impact date was the same as its release date? Or was it more of an OA/OS type thing where the impact date is a few weeks after its release, a bit like 'Whisky Story' by Example?

It's impact date would literally be the album release date, so the new foals track will be added in the lead up to the album release on the 28/8. The Carly release is long before the album - if it was held back it would be released on the week before the albums out generally.

Anyone else noticed that Radio 1 play Panic! At The Disco - The Ballad of Mona Lisa SO regularly, despite it being several years old and it never being an actual hit?

I'd say I hear it on Radio 1 at least once a fortnight, usually played by Scott Mills. It's bizarre. I hope I'm not the only one to have noticed it.

I noticed that they do that with a few other songs such as Criminal by Lower Than Atlantis and Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People (normally played at least once every fortnight on Greg's show). I know the later was still a much bigger hit than The Ballad of Mona Lisa but it's just a strange strategy when a few other acts struggle to get listed at all.

Anyway, just been catching up on Buzzjack in general and the R1 TOTDs, and I love Lana Del Rey's new one, such a great and melodic chorus, hopefully this era will be better than her last one which was a little underwhelming really. Rita Ora/Chris Brown is also surprisingly good.

It was premiered back in May though, so I understand people's confusion I'd be surprised if this charted in the top 40 though, a lot of people are tired of the commercial D&B sound now, considering there's been hits from the genre since early 2012 (Hot Right Now).

Justin Bieber could be a possibility too? I'm assuming he's releasing OA/OS here on Friday, and they playlisted 5SOS the Wednesday before its release as one recent example. They supported the Believe era (ie. his last proper era, not the Journals mess from 2013) and he's had success with Where Are Ü Now recently, plus this song is also produced in part by Skrillex. Not certain but I'd say it's not unlikely!

I guess we'll see what happens on the playlist tonight. If is stalls on the C-list or is dropped entirely, it'll be clear there is something wrong, as they'd usually lap up a lead single from Lana, especially one that sounds as commercial as this. It'll have a huge negative impact on her album sales if they can't play it. I noticed "And I get high with my baby" is blanked out whenever Trap Queen is played. So playing 'All I wanna do is get high by the beach, high by the beach, high by the beach' could certainly be an issue.

It's likely. I've noticed that Friday's TOTD is always a dance track...probably so it can get a play in the Dance Anthems hour. Sunday's used to be a rock song, but they haven't stuck to that recently.

I really hope you guys can help me...

Been looking for a song that has been around a few months. I'm fairly certain it was on the R1 playlist at some point (I've definitely heard it on R1 before so assuming it was playlisted). It's a guy singing, and the song is VERY VERY 80s sounding. The tempo is pretty slow, and the chorus is quite big and anthemic with some MAJOR 80s synths in the background. It's definitely a relaxed song. I can't find it anywhere!! Anyone have any idea on it?

Somewhat of a WTF reaction to the TOTD for Mon 28th Sept - Foxes 'Better Love'



Just when everyone thought it had been and gone! I guess it's a similar situation to 'Run Away With Me', where its official impact date was weeks after its release date, and therefore was only made TOTD and playlisted a few weeks after release. Not that I'm expecting 'Better Love' to be any kind of a hit (as great a song as it is) but at least R1 aren't completely snubbing it.

Well that's it for the iTunes #1 today till 1D comes along not that it would have particularly have changed.

It's just alright for me. Totally get the negative reaction to it though. His voice being dull as dishwater being a major turn off for me when I first heard it and that it doesn't go anywhere much :/ kinda just plods along really however I have grown to like it a little bit now tbh despite some of those factors..

Well it's obvious something got messed up badly somewhere along the line with it. I do think it's probably Radio 1 saw its #76 peak and falling away as a reason not to go for it, and things may have been different had it had a different strategy. I guess there's no way of knowing for sure though.

I think because Blonde/Karen was released right at the beginning of the OA/OS period, Radio 1 still hadn't adjusted to what to expect from new releases. If it was released OA/OS now I think there's a bigger chance they would've got on board, the new Sigma track being a good example of still getting support despite minimal iTunes success so far (although I know that wasn't fully OA/OS).

Well the album is also called Confident It was put out as an instant grat from it a while ago and charted in the top 70 on week 1 I believe.

The album's only been out for a couple of weeks, but yeah 'Confident' (the song) has been out for about 5 weeks now and charted at #65 already. Willing it to be a hit but doubtful, it's a bit of a screw up.

As for Selena putting out a banger of a second single...
