Metric - Days Of Oblivion A second year of all things Bronzil begins with possibly my favourite song from the last quarter of 2023. Metric have been entered four times previously, doing quite well each time, and as if that hadn't created enough "it's good but I prefer [song X] by them" potential, they since had a little song called 'Doomscroller' which made it to #51 on its debut in last year's Record of the Decade - so basically this one's on a bit of a hiding to nothing, unless it's truly in epic territory - fortunately I think it is! |

INXS - Don't Change Time for my first retro entry, and the second act I've sent to BJSC to have had any UK Top 100 singles - 26 of them in fact - though this one from 1982 predates all of them, and as with ACRAZE's chart hit I can take or leave most of those, but absolutely love the charging guitars, synths, vocals and intra-band chemistry here. |

Luca Eck - Chaos Reigns This dark techno banger popped up on my Release Radar and I was hooked at once - it made it to #7 on my personal chart at the end of last year before I stopped doing them weekly and just missed out on my EOY top 100, so it can have the spotlight here instead. |

Nur Jaber is billed as the lead artist on 'Fall To Pieces' on most platforms (and on the cover art of the EP it's part of), I'm not sure why the credits are flipped over on Spotify. iTunes actually has it both ways with the EP as a whole billing Luca first as well but the individual songs having Nur first. It has always been like that so not a recent switch!

Otha - I'm on Top On a good run of qualifiers right now, albeit also the first time I've gone 5 contests without a top 10 (top 5 even), so hope to bring some of that magic back courtesy of Othalie Husøy - I discovered her on an indie playlist with her new song which I considered sending first of all, but was curious to listen through her earlier releases which took me to 2018 and this gem, alongside 'One of the Girls' which I subsequently found out was an Unknown Pleasures winner for blacksquare that year - I had absolutely no idea until then! |
