I was surprised to read earlier this week that the letter to the incoming president is not a long-standing tradition. The first was from Reagan to Bush (who had been his VP for eight years) and it carried on from there. |

I notice Trump didn't do his rally at the same time as the inauguration, announcing he was running next time, as people said he would. I guess he can't risk saying or doing anything that makes McConnell impeach him. He has to be on best behaviour, for him, after the riot, because it only takes 15 Republicans to impeach him.

Trump's cost the US millions in his very final act by extending Secret Service protection by six months for ALL his children, their spouses and children, another 15 or so people. So Ivanka, Jared, their 5 kids, Tiffany and all the others will get it. Trump and Melania get it for life and Barron until he's 16.

It'll be interesting to see what the growing left/progressive base in his party push him on over the next four years — but this is a very good start. It's hard not to enjoy Biden undoing various things on day one. #BidenErasedWomen is now trending in the UK — which says it all really.
