It's been confirmed that "A Dal", which has been the Hungarian selection process since 2012, will take place next year but it will NOT be used to select an entry for Eurovision.

Reports are going around that they've withdrawn from the contest completely - have they really thrown their toys out the pram after having such a good streak prior to this year? Will we miss them if it's true?

'Hungary pulls out of Eurovision amid rise in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric'

While Hungary's government is literally worse than Britain's and Hungarian society is one of the most homophobic in Europe, I think the article is a bit too hasty about linking Hungary pulling out entirely to homophobia.

Also 'homosexual flotilla' sounds amazing.

Yeah, this is the perfect country to live in, the situation is worse than it was 15 years ago. BUT I don't think that the reason for quitting would be homophobia.

Quite simply we are like a f*cking annoying 5-year-old, SO sour losers - we never win because Europe hates us and how dare they make us DNQ ONCE after several years of Qs. Of course, the issue is not with the dodgy rules of 'Dal' and the shitty, incompetent, dinosaur judges, but with EVERYONE ELSE. So Europe, f-you, we'll have our own competition, so we'll definitely win magic.gif

If anyone's interested, this piano/guitar duet won A Dal, so this is the Hungary 2020 entry that never was:

The guy, Gergo, was part of V.I.P from Hungary 1997 and was also one of the writers of 'What About My Dreams'. While I quite like this duet, I think this'd have been a semi-final thing for them.
