After much debate over whether or not he should be included in this forum a few weeks ago he was accepted lol.
But as no-one ever made a thread about him anyway, here it is. Discuss his work here along with the Smiths if ya like too. |

Ex-Smiths frontman Morrissey has jokingly asked why he was not considered for the Eurovision Song Contest this weekend. The suggestion came after the UK's poor result this year, coming nineteenth out of only twenty-four acts. Morrissey said, "I was horrified to see the UK fail again in the Eurovision Song Contest." The star went on, saying "There is one question I keep asking: 'Why didn't they ask me?' That question keeps going round my head." |

I'd love him to enter - I can see him crooning a classic Morrissey number like "You Europeans Don't Know Misery Til It's Got a Flick-knife to your Neck in Whalley Range".
At least it'd be better than a 40 year old bloke in marble wash denim festooned with pre-pubescent girls in schoolgirl's uniforms.... |

I find him depressing but he is a lyrical genious. I've never got why people see him as depressing myself. I personally just love the way he's still making such good music after all this time, he's one of those artists who you can never give enough credit to imo, he's inspired so many people including a certain band who got their name from a song by him if you can work it out |

It makes me shake my head in disbelief when people call Morrissey depressing - someone's obviously not reading the lyrics.... 'Vicar in a Tutu', 'Some Girls are Bigger Than Others', 'Handsome Devil', 'You're the One for me, Fatty', 'Pregnant for the Last Time', 'Bigmouth Strikes Again'..... hilarious, all of them.

I agree with russt68, Morrissey's lyrics have a great deal of humour in them. That's probably why he is so popular.
I've kind of gone off him now for some reason though. I really liked him when I was in my teens. Then I turned 20 and went off him a bit. |
