GLORY ALBUM RATE
Banner made by John-James

Welcome to Buzzjack's first official rate of Britney's latest album, "Glory". Here are some rules;

-Do NOT leave a track unrated. The album is available on all streaming services, YouTube, soundcloud, etc. We all want a clear result. And let's face it, some of Britney's best music comes from bonus tracks and non singles. If you are a fan of pop music, widen your (soon to be even more) awesome playlists.
-You may give your favorite (ONE) track an 11.
-You may give your least favorite (ONE) track a negative one.
-Do NOT edit your rates after an hour of posting them. That leaves you an hour to correct mis types and change your scores. If edited after the first hour, your original scores will not be changed. I'm recording the votes as they get posted so let's keep this simple.
-The rate closes at 12:00 AM September 25th

-THOSE WHO LEAVE A COMMENTARY (2-3 sentences for at least every track) will be entered into winning a physical copy of Britney's 'Glory' (Japan Deluxe Edition). I'll be picking a winner for each comp that happens until the release. If you use a streaming service on Spotify or iTunes I will also buy a month membership for one of those sites, if preferred.

PLEASE RATE IN THIS FORMAT, WITH SCORES REPLACING THE "00's"

-I will send reminder messages to those that haven't edited it in within 72 hours of the rate closing. If you don't edit the score it will stay at a score of 5. AGAIN, do NOT edit any other scores (after an hour of posting) without notifying me, I'm putting in scores as they are posted!

Happy rating, guys!

(Also, we have not chosen a banner winner! I chose one with random.org out of the ones posted in the AF Banner thread!)

Excited. WHAT A PRIZE THOUGH *.*

Also, you might think "it's far too soon for this" but it's kinda the point. We wanted to get rates as fresh as possible (without being TOO loony) so that we can compare them to when we do another rate of the album in like 8 months or so! So we can see if peoples opinions change on certain songs etc.. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Tyler 8th September 2016, 12:30 AM

Exactly! We will be saving the averages and scores to do a conparison rate around November/December. Whenever we get done doing the 'Circus' rate that Bal has been PATIENTLY waiting on for over a year! heart.gif

09.0 Invitation
> WHAT AN OPENER. Quite possibly one of my absolute favourite album openers! It really sets the mood of the album and sets the tone incredibly well. 'Gimme More' was an iconic opener for the opening line alone, but I think this track really excels as a whole, as the opener. I also love that it's an actual track too and not just used as some "intro". <

10.0 Make Me (Ft. G-Eazy)
> Absolutely love this. No idea where it ranks in my Britney ranks, but it's definitely up there and I think it'll age extremely well too! Just like most of this album! A brave choice to go with this as a lead single over a predictable pop banger, but I applaud that. Especially when the song is THIS good! Really think G-Eazy fits great on it too <

06.5 Private Show
> I like this, but it's nowhere near one of my favourites. Her vocals grate on me slightly on this track, but I do love how fun and cute it is! <

09.5 Man On The Moon
> Absolutely loving this. It's like 'Trip To Your Heart''s mature older sister! It's stunning. Really not sure if it'd work as a single, but that doesn't matter. Love how cute and atmospheric it is. <

10.0 Just Luv Me
> What I love the most about this track is how delicate everything is. Everything from the production right down to her heartbreaking vocals! I think they've got this bang on in terms of bringing Britney right up to date and going with the trends and succeeding at it etc.. <

08.0 Clumsy
> OK. On initial response, this was MY JAM. But in the context of the album and hearing how many songs are just that much better, this has kinda fallen in my affections. However, it's still a banger! *.* <

10.0 Do You Wanna Come Over?
> I remember when 'Clumsy' premiered, people/reviewers were raving that it's the real, club banger on the album... I think DYWCO? takes that crown with ease! This is definitely the sort of track I could see bringing Britney back in the UK publics affections. Such a stormer of a track! <

09.0 Slumber Party
> Not one of my initial faves, but it's growing and I can definitely see it as a single at some point. Love the production on this and how surprisingly subtle and not cheesy it is (when I first read the title, I was fearing something incredibly corny)! <

09.0 Just Like Me
> Really don't understand why people rank this so low? Not one of my "highlights", but definitely around the upper mid-table area for me. I love how scalding this track is. Why would you want to settle for someone who looks like Brit, when you HAD HER RIGHT THERE!??!? <

10.0 Love Me Down
> Absolutely ADORE this track. Especially as it sounds very similar to one of my songs of the year (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWX-Mw4dbCs) Such a brilliant, reggae-infused, pop banger. <

08.5 Hard To Forget You
> This is probably the song which is growing the fastest on me. Really loving her attitude on this. Serving me 'Do Something' teas with her delivery and obviously I mean that in the best way possible. Don't think I'm going to be tiring of it anytime soon! <

08.5 What You Need
This does the whole angsty, retro, 60's stuff a LOT better than 'Private Show'! Her vocals really give me life on this one and it's getting better the more I listen to it. A great end to the standard album, imo. Going from 'Invitation' and climaxing with this is a journey in itself! <

08.0 Better
> YES BRIT. Grab that relevant sound and OWN it. Kind of sad that this won't be a huge hit, despite it sounding a lot like one of those massive streaming hits we have right now (and doing it BETTER - pun half intended - too!) Ah well. At least we have a taster on what a potential Major Lazer collab could sound like. <

09.0 Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
> I think I read that Selena rejected this one for 'Revival'. IS SHE MAD!? This is a TUNE and it'd suit her to a T. But hey, her loss is our gain! Bilingualney is something I didn't know we needed so much of but we need MORE (and I'm loving how much of that we got with this album!) This is extremely catchy and I could see it oddly catching on if it was to be made as a single! <

11.0 Liar
> BY FAR MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE. IDC if people are beginning to find it "overrated", but I lose my shit to this EVERY DAMN TIME. It's so WONDERFUL. Such an amazing "FUCK YOU" track! In my top 10 Britney tracks ever already and I'm not even apologising! THIS IS THE POPNEY I HAVE WANTED.<

10.0 If I'm Dancing
> Such an infectious, hypnotic bop! I honestly think that this would also be a huge hit if it was to be a single. Especially if the whole meme was to take off properly around the same time! If you've not seen the meme's yet... https://twitter.com/tkylemac/status/768838043495260160 https://twitter.com/americandream49/status/767721096124571648 https://twitter.com/sadhoeflo/status/768697237283098625 https://twitter.com/BenKalsi/status/768870559291699200, https://twitter.com/jordaniqua/status/767958441423876096 Certified BANGER. <

08.0 Coupure Electrique
> What a wonderful surprise. Made even more special due to knowing what that phrase translates to! Love the chilled out vibe to it and love how it's entirely in French! SLAY US LANGUAGENEY! <

09.0 Mood Ring
> I just CAN'T at the idea that this was only a Japanese, bonus track!! It's so gorgeous. So sensual. It reminds me of the sort of thing Tinashe should be doing instead of the stuff she has atm. I think it's definitely more in line with 'Aquarius' than anything she's done this era so far. But hey, her loss is Britney's gain!! wub.gif <

---

What an album though. I am still struggling to actually listen to anything else! I can't believe that we've been given the album we've been after, since after 'Blackout'!

09. Invitation
-Stunning opener. I live for the breathy runs through out the song, it really makes the song. This is also probably the track with her most processed vocals, but it really adds a lot. My favorite opener after "It's Britney, bitch!"

10. Make Me (Ft. G-Eazy)
- The music video really tried to water down how amazing this track really is, but, I have snapped back. That guitar in the production is absolutely sublime and her falsetto is ON point, never thought we would hear that from again! I'm not usually a fan of rapper features, but, I actually really appreciate G-Eazy's verse.

08.5. Private Show
- Okay, I don't care what they say, I'm in love with you. The "Work it, work it" verses and that ending are so delightfully wacky! Reminds me of the material she was recording for 'The Original Doll'.

10. Man On The Moon
- EUPHORIC! I feel as if this is almost getting lost in the many amazing tracks on 'Glory', but it's amazing and single worthy. It reminds me of a mature take on BTMYH and Lucky.

11. Just Luv Me
- Amazing. Stunning. Perfect. The lyrics, production and flow of the song are just all on point, it's crazy. My favorite thing from her since 'Amnesia'. I need a CLASSIC BRITNEY VIDEO for this! Please! We need an uptempo for the next single, but, this NEEDS to be the third single.

07.5 Clumsy
- This goes between a 7 and 8 very frequently. Love her vocals and adore the "oops". The piano is the main reason this is a 7.5 instead of 7. The breakdown is a bit messy IMO, though.

9.5. Do You Wanna Come Over?
- Living for that guitar and bridge. I've seen some people complain about the male voice, but I think it adds more layers to the song and compliments it well. I also think the male vocals will make this appeal to more than just her usual audience.

08.5. Slumber Party
- Even though I prefer DYWCO, I feel like this would smash it as a second single and open the era up for more than 3 singles. The "ooh ooh ooh" repeated in the chorus ALWAYS gets stuck in my head.

06. Just Like Me
- One of the weakest tracks on the album, it gets lost in all the more superior tracks. I love hearing her stripped down and if I was judging just off verses and the pre-chorus, I would rate it about an 8, but the chorus is just underwhelming. I feel like I finally understand what Jonathan was feeling when he described 'Inside Out'. It does still add a nice change in pace for the album tho.

10. Love Me Down
- This is just one of those songs that refuses to stop growing. The details in the production are FANTASTIC. The 'Fancy' keyboard beat, along with a blissful tropical breeze of orgasm, I mean production. And the "HOOO's" in the background. This is what Pretty Girl's wanted to be.

07. Hard To Forget You
- THE SEVEN IS FOR THAT BRIDGE THAT REMINDS ME OF MANDY MOORE'S, "CANDY". The chorus is a bit to plain for it to be scored any higher though, but if this is filler than LORD HELP.

09. What You Need
- YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. That is all, rip to haters of this song. I'll keep u in my prayers.

05.5. Better
- Meh. If this was on 'Britney Jean' album it would probably get a much higher score. The "ohhh-woahs" in the chorus kind of get on my nerves. Feel free to judge me.

10. Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
- The curse of the bonus tracks. This is her 'La Isla Bonita'! The chorus makes me want to run away to Mexico. Idk what I'd do once I got there? Probably twerk and talk shit about Trump.

10. Liar
- f***. This is just so good. It's classic noughties pop! The western tinge really gives it a more modern feel. I feel like this was peeled from the 'Britney' era. wub.gif I'm the guy at the stop light blaring this and making Chris Crocker look sane.

11 10. If I'm Dancing
- This, Just Luv Me and Liar, CONSTANTLY switch out as my fave, though I think JLM is cementing its place. THIS IS AMNESIA'S LESS INNOCENT SISTER ON MOLLY. This would be my perfect choice as single 2, followed by JLM, Liar, MOTM and DYWCO. Idk, I love this album way too much. Jk, that's impossible.

08. Coupre Electrique
- Amazing closer, fantastic tribute to 'Blackout'. The remixes coming out for this are STELLAR.

08.5 Moodring

OVERALL SCORE: 8.798

In comparison 'Blackout' is still my #1 album with an overall score of, 8.958, while 'In The Zone' has been moved down a notch to #3 with an average score of 8.522. There is a bit of a drop between that and my fourth fave (FF) which averages out at 7.791.

Lowest is BJ at 5.847.

11.0 Invitation

I love love love this song! My favourite song. It's a shame that its underrated. I just love how dreamy and ethereal the production and Britneys vocals are. It made me very happy that she said the song was inspired by Selena because I love her too.

10.0 Make Me (Ft. G-Eazy)

I am a huge G-Eazy but thats not the reason I adore this song. Funnily enough Britney's leads are never in my Top 3 (except GM) but this is probably my second favourite. What a brilliant job they did picking the lead single. The production is current and chorus is hypnotising. Shame about the video!

1.0 Private Show

I can't stand this song sorry kink.gif I love that Britney felt confident enough to show off her vocals a bit on this song so I really applaud her for that but I'm just not a big fan of this type of music, a bit too Meghan Trainor for me.

7.0 Man On The Moon

I like the vocal effect she uses on this song. The prechorus is amazing, the beats in the background get me so pumped. The chorus is nice but nothing outstanding. It's a cute song but not one of my favourites.

8.5. Just Luv Me

Such a well produced single! I must admit, the chorus does lack a little bit of a punch which make me think it would be risky as a single but I also think it has the potential to be a huge grower! It's very current and different to what Britney has done before. So random but I love the final 'Just Luv Me' in the chorus, how the intonation is lower than the previous ones.

4.0 Clumsy

Probably my second least fave behind Private Show. The song isn't bad to be honest, it's just been done before many times so I find it a bit dull personally. The breakdown is pretty weak but still catchy so I'll give it that. It's a harmless pop song.

5.0 Do You Wanna Come Over?

I reallyyyyy want to love this song but I can't get into it as much as I'd like. It's got a classic Britney sound to it but I just can't get past that annoying male voice in the chorus (Focus teas). Thankfully the chorus is not the whole song and there are some redeeming factors like the verses which I love.

9.0 Slumber Party

Such a feel good song. I love the reggae sounds and the chorus is sensational. The melody of the chorus will get stuck in my head whenever I listen to. I really hope this is made a single at some point, I could imagine such a HOT music video.

9.0 Just Like Me

I actually really love this. It's got a really nice chilled feel to it and I love Britney's vocals. I love to see her try some acoustic infused pop tracks, she pulls them off well.

9.0 Love Me Down

What a bop! This was in my Top 3 when I first listened to it but now I'd say Top 5. This would also make a great single. The production is awesome and chorus is so catchy. I could imagine this sounding amazing in the club! Just makes you want to dance!

6.5. Hard To Forget You

Cute pop song with a catchy chorus. Doesn't stand out for me and can be quite forgettable (how ironic haha!) but when I do listen to it I really enjoy it.

7.0 What You Need

I remember a lot of people saying this was there least fave but I really like it! I really shouldn't to be honest because if anyone else sang it I'd probably hate it but it just really woks for Britney. Yes it's quite repetitive but at the same time it's incredibly catchy.

7.5. Better

I love this, the productions sounds like it could have been a song by Major Lazer or DJ Snake which means it could probably do well as a single. The breakdown is really interesting and I love the whole distorted sound, it works really well.

7.5. Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)

Slay me with that Spanish Brit! I wasn't sure if the Spanish would sound a bit forced/disjointed when I saw the title but it works well and fits perfectly with the melody of the chorus. The breakdown is amazing and has almost Latin feel to it. Another song which would sound brilliant if blasted at a club!

7.5. Liar

I wasn't sure about this at first. I liked it but I didn't think much of it. The song is such a grower and the chorus is so cleverly created. The song reminds me of something so much and I still can't think what it is! I love love love Britney's vocals when she goes "LIAR LIAR"!

9.5. If I'm Dancing

The start of this song....yessssss! This song has one of the strongest melodies on the whole album, you just want to dance!! All those vines made me love the song even more, the instrumental is incredible, such a bop!

6.0 Coupre Electrique

Celine who!? This is such an interesting song and I just love the fact she named the song Blackout! I can't give the song a high score but its just not long enough and lacks a proper structure but I love that she did something different and it's nice to hear her in French!

9.0 Moodring

Wow this is really something special. In terms of production, one of the most current and interesting songs she has done. Britney's team are stupid AF for not putting this on the standard. This should be a single contender but I doubt it considering it's absence from the album in the rest of the world. Shame.

I've done down to and including DYWCO? and will stop for now, I want to make sure I'm fully motivated for the entire thing rather than typing shitty reviews for the end tracks cause I'm tired laugh.gif but my review is in progress! *.*

09 Invitation - On first listen, I acknowledged this was a good start to the album. However, the more I listened to this song, the more addicted I became. The chilling vocals drew me in, taking my breath away as I realised I was at the start of a journey and by the end of it, I would never be the same again.
09 Make Me (feat. G-Eazy) - Make Me was the best choice for the first single and was a welcome relief when first listened to. The modern and slick production highlighted that this time Britney meant business and she was back. It was the first song in many years that I genuinely couldn't keep off repeat. Is G-eazy's rap necessary? Probably not but it certainly doesn't take away from a more mature, polished addition to Britney's single collection and I would come back to it time and time again.
07 Private Show - Catchy, melodic and sensual. On the first few listens I agreed that this was a good effort but at that point I hadn't listened to the rest of the album. When listened to on the album as a whole, it's certainly one of the weakest songs, mainly because of the vocals.
11 Man on the Moon - A song in which Britney shares the barriers to finding a loved one and makes a plea to the man on the moon; it's certainly a highlight if not the peak of the album. The pained monologue at the start of the song draws you closer, leading to a melody and chorus which are both captivating and memorable. The bridge is perfect, holding the song together and Britney's vocals are passionate and heart warming.
10 Just Luv Me - Certainly one of the single worthy songs on an album full of potential. Britney's sultry and persuasive vocals can be heard over a polished, glossy production. The mid tempo and melodic beat is certainly the highlight of the song, building from the start and climaxing in the chorus where Britney purrs, 'Just luv me.'
08 Clumsy - One of the only club bangers on the album and certainly a solid effort which perhaps can only really be honestly reviewed once heard in a delirium from a dance floor. The song builds to an EDM infused chorus which challenges you to dance. The coy 'oopps' heard before the chorus shows the more playful side to Britney.
9.5 Do You Wanna Come Over? - Fun, flirty and lively, this song will certainly get you up on your feet and dancing. The simple yet catchy chorus will be buzzing around your head for hours after you've heard it.
10 Slumber Party - A fan favourite and certainly single friendly. The tropical feel to the song combined with Britney's bad-ass attitude mixes well to make a superb track -this is certainly my choice for single number two.
08 Just Like Me - This song starts with a great use of a guitar, building up to a catchy chorus. It's definitely a grower and though it wasn't a song that initially stood out, each time I listen to it, it becomes more and more memorable.
08 Love Me Down - This is another song which on first listen didn't resonate with me, however, after more listens it became more appealing. Although repetitive, it works and shows the diversity in Britney's vocal; the ad-libs in the background playing to ones senses.
02 Hard To Forget You - Even after many listens, this is a song I just can't get in to. The repeated, 'it's just so hard to forget you' and the slow down in the chorus doesn't work well. It's like you are waiting for the song to begin but it never actually materialises.
01 What You Need - Though vocally this is a strong effort, the song is certainly the weakest addition to the album. Again the song feels like it builds to nothing and the tune is forgetful- a poor end to a nearly flawless standard edition. The best part of the song being 'that was fun,' at its climax.
07 Better - This is a radio friendly song which has a good melody. Though it's not one of the songs I go back to regularly, I enjoy it when I do, particularly the sound effects in the back ground.
10 Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) - An instant favourite which always gets my hips swaying. Sexy and sensual, the Spanish dialogue adding to the songs appeal- Spanishney wins out.
07 Liar - I have mixed feelings about this song. Despite the weak verses, the build up to the chorus, the chorus and the bridge are supreme. As an all rounder, this song lacks consistency throughout and fails to do what many of the other songs on this album do.
10 If I'm Dancing - Out of all of the songs on this album, this is the one I failed to see the potential in from the start. Each time I've listened to it, I've enjoyed it more and now I see it's true power. The background effects are fantastic and Britney's voice is hypnotic. This is certainly the dark horse of the album for me, a real gem.
06 Coupure Electrique - Frenchney is a great effort and a sweet way to end the deluxe edition. It's certainly not one of the best but it does just fine as an album track. The vocals are in the same captivating vein as invitation and therefore, as you finish listening you can't help feeling you've come full circle and the journey has ended just as it was supposed to.
09 Moodring - After a few listens to this, I fell in love... Again. This album just keeps surprising me. This track is mysterious and moody. Love it.

Omfg at a 3 for if I'm dancing.

It's the background music, there is an irritating sound I hear that makes me dislike it.

09. Invitation
- Perfect opening to this glorious album! Sexy, smooth and seductive. Just like any Britney slow jam should sound!

08. Make Me (Ft. G-Eazy)
- Another sexy jam. Love her voice when she sings over R&B mid tempo beats like this!

07. Private Show
- Very different for her! A bit pitchy at times but does the job as the perfume add song.

09. Man On The Moon
-This one is such a grower. It is very current yet it has that classic Britney stamp all over it.

11. Just Luv Me
- My personal fave! Maybe the best Britney slow jam since uhmm Everytime? Sick production, her vocal delivery is on point. Must be a single!

07. Clumsy
-This one gets old after a few listens but it's still a jam. Loving the Oops throwback!

08. Do You Wanna Come Over?
- Another very current track yet it brings back some classic Britney moments from the past. Energetic and fun.

10. Slumber Party
- Loooving this one. Another single material. So sexy and I love when she drops the F-bomb!

08. Just Like Me
- Starts off slow and very melodic. The chorus is kinda repetitive but it's one of the big growers on the album for me!

10. Love Me Down
- Jam! Makes you wanna dance and it gets stuck in your head for quite a while after you play it!

06. Hard To Forget You
- Maybe my least fave track. Still a 06 rating! Speaks volume for this album.

07. What You Need
- Love her vocals here. Very different to the rest of the album. Very sassy and I'm getting that Vegas Showgirl kinda vibes if she ever performs this over there ohmy.gif

08. Better
- Sick beat. Can be much better though but somehow still it can finds it's place on the standard edition even.

10. Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
- Love the Latin flavor and the use of Spanish here. Great repeat value. JAM!

10. Liar
- Damn the bonus tracks keep getting better after "Better" kink.gif I agree, it gives me 2001 Britney vibes, and yet the production is current and sick AF!

10. If I'm Dancing
- Wow! Try NOT to dance to this one. You know the music is good! Club Jam!

09. Coupre Electrique
- Amazing closer of the Deluxe edition. Loving her french, and the song just seems mesmerizing with her silky vocals here.

08. Moodring
- Very moody, very slick, can easily be on the standard/regular deluxe edition.

08.5 Invitation
This hasn't stopped growing so far for me, I seemed a bit less impressed on first listen than others were but it's improved a lot in my affections, it's become one I'll voluntarily go back to rather than only listening when I wanted the full album. I love how sensual it is, and it really sets the scene for the rest of the album, although I don't think it would work anywhere else on the album other than track 1. Bonus points for opening the album with a new song, I love it when albums don't just start with a single that we already know, feels like there's a bit more thought into the tracklist order (which is evident throughout... mostly).

10.0 Make Me... (feat. G-Eazy)
Loved this from first listen and it's not gotten old for me at all. Her vocals are excellent on it and it's incredibly current, it's radio's loss if they don't want to play this tbh. I think G-Eazy's rap complements it well actually, in a similar vein to Selena Gomez's Good For You (which is absolutely no bad thing as far as I'm concerned!). Potentially my favourite Britney single since Womanizer??

07.0 Private Show
After Make Me... being the Good For You equivalent, this is the Same Old Love lmao - totally love/hate, particularly on the vocals front. I like this, I really do, but I liked it waaay more as a standalone track than I do as part of the album. It doesn't flow at all, Make Me... is sensual and sexy, and this just feels quite clunky coming afterwards? The "slide down my pole" bits are PERFECT for singing along to though and it's great to hear her vocals sounding more raw than the past few albums (or at all, after the Myah fiasco lmao x). Oh and the outro is SUPERB - "nah I'll take a bow x"

10.0 Man On The Moon
I knew this has a little spark on first listen but it's grown on me a lot since then. Her vocals are so soft throughout, making for quite a dreamy sounding song I think. "I can't compete with the stars in the sky, I'm invisible" is one of my favourite parts of the album. I'd LOVE to get a video for this even if I'm not convinced it would be a hit single of any sort lol.

09.5 Just Luv Me
I think this would be a 10 if it had a guest rap on it maybe? Just to give it that extra layer. It's great anyway and surely a future single from the album. This is the perfect kinda song for her voice, and I've spoken a lot about vocals so far in this commentary but this is just another great example of how fantastic she sounds. If this was by a more ""relevant"" female artist, the public would lap it up I think. Unfortunately, it will go largely ignored if released as a single. Ffs.

08.0 Clumsy
This coming right after Just Luv Me is one of the few flaws in this tracklist order laugh.gif A bit like Make Me... into Private Show, it's from the sublime to the kinda clunky, but I think that's part of the charm with this? It doesn't fit in that well on the album at all but it's a fun listen and I do really like it in isolation. Was unsure of the breakdown at first but that was after listening through my laptop speakers which are awful and tinny sounding laugh.gif

11.0 Do You Wanna Come Over?
INCREDIBLE. Bags of personality, incredibly catchy and great production. It's my pick for single #2, will show off a different side to the album following Make Me... and can you just imagine the VIDEO?? I love the guitar parts when she says "do you wanna come over?" during the verses, and I can't say the male shouting has ever put me off!

10.0 Slumber Party
This has crept up since my first listen, wasn't LOVING at first but I find the chorus really quite irresistible. I think this is the kinda thing the genral public would love although I'm not gonna kid myself into thinking radio would play it sad.gif Sometimes I can find swearing really unnecessary but I think it goes well with the vibe of this in the chorus.

08.0 Just Like Me
I find this quite nice, not a huge highlight but it feels like Britney is singing from the heart here, you can hear the emotion in her vocals, and I guess it's the only ballad-type moment on the album! I like the production on the chorus, different to the usual kinda production on a ballad, so yeah, I like this overall.

10.0 Love Me Down
This was love at first listen, the chorus is perhaps lazy lyric-wise but that's never been a huge issue in songs for me, it's perfect to sing along to and very catchy. The production is top notch and I love the talk-singing verses, it really does feel like everything Pretty Girls wanted to be but failed at. Could easily be something Rihanna would release in her more pop days, or Zara Larsson?

07.5 Hard To Forget You
The most generic song on the album for me, and I never use generic as a bad thing but I think on an album that is so quintessentially Britney, it lacks a bit and feels a little bit like trend-chasing in ways? It's a grower for sure though, it's got an oddly high play count because I always forget to turn it off after Love Me Down laugh.gif

06.0 What You Need
The weakest on the album for me. I like that we have some raw vocals from Brit on this but I'm not sure I like the sound of them so much sadly. It's very catchy though and I like the melody, but I find it odd as the standard album closer especially when it sounds nothing like the rest of the album. I think it would've been better as a deluxe track myself but I most certainly don't hate it.

08.0 Better
I can't really fault this but I can't say I actually return to it a great deal strangely. The production is some of the best on the album, extremely current and fresh sounding, but it's just not drawing me back so much.

10.0 Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes)
SUPERB. Can we please have Spanishney more often? The latin vibes in this are top notch, it's a great experiment to take and I'd love more songs like this in the future. Super catchy and definitely worthy of a spot on the main album.

08.5 Liar
Not one I'm going back to, in the same way as Better really, but there's no denying that this should've been on the standard too. The chorus is excellent though and it's probably one of the best on the album in that sense. The Western-ney vibes too *.* but otherwise, there are many on this album that I do prefer over this oop.

09.5 If I'm Dancing
Absolutely BARMY and I LOVE IT. Britishney, the wild production, it's just excellent and so much fun. Yet another song that really should've been on the standard album, and I think it would fit in well alongside the likes of Do You Wanna Come Over? and Clumsy.

08.5 Coupure électrique
This is the kinda song that really only works as an album closer I think, anywhere else on the album would sound odd. My biggest issue with this is the length - it feels like it ends just as it's getting started for me sad.gif I can't comment on her enunciation but I have a huge soft spot for this regardless, and the production really enhances it.

08.5 Mood Ring
This would be higher if some of the vocals weren't quite obviously not Britney's oops. Apparently it wasn't finished in time though and they used some of the demo vocals? Fair enough that it's only a Japanese bonus track and if it were finished by Britney, it would totally be worthy of a place on the main album, but with these circumstances, I'm kinda glad it isn't just cause we don't need Britney Jean again lol.

Overall I think this could actually contend for my favourite Britney album? Guess it helps that I've been more of a stan this era than ever before, so it's always gonna have a special place in my heart. There's nothing I truly hate even if it's not quite perfect, but honestly it's great to have her back on form after the hit and miss Britney Jean.

Invitation 09/10 - Haunting, magical, dreamy + her voice = Invitation cry.gif no other track could open doors for us to a HOLY GLORY

Make Me 10/10 - Sassy, sultry Britney delivering it...I have a feeling that this will definitely end up (regardless of today's hit status) being recognized as one of her best works some years later...not at Slave 4 u level but perhaps at Work Bitch popularity level.

Private Show 07/10 - So much fun lyrics wise and voice wise + minimalistic production of this record makes it everything wub.gif

Man On The Moon 08/10 - Okay this is one of the records that keeps growing each time you listen to it. Very clever on writings and execution department but still I hope it ends up only as album track.

Just Luv Me 09/10 - fan favorite and rightfully so (hopefully a 3rd single).

Clumsy 09/10 - imagine a 50's retro sound in a '10's club scene wub.gif oops part completes this bop for me!!

Do You Wanna Come Over? 10/10 - please single #2...Britney stamp all over it...fun, exciting, pop at it's best dancing.gif

Slumber Party 10/10 - I was lucky to be in Miami when I first gave this record a spin. It is definitely made for summer and beach parties. And now listening to this in my apartment just takes me directly to that moment I've listened to it for the first time...sun, waves, cocktail wub.gif

Just Like Me 05/10 - I really can't make a definitive opinion about this one. It sounds very simple compared to the rest of album and adds nothing to it. A very first track that I see myself skipping it. Next.

Love Me Down 09/10 - Thanks to godney for this after that 'no opinion' dull song. Very complex production and very in love with how it starts so little and builds up all the way up to having ear orgasm wub.gif

Hard To Forget Ya 08/10 - Very melodic during verses and repetitive during chorus...but it works very well...love it.

What You Need 10/10 - OMG who thought Britney could do soul and slaying it. More Soulney in future please wub.gif...that was fun!!!

Better 08/10 - At first it was just meh and I couldn't connect fully to this...not f*** yeah it is a bop.

Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) - 10/10 - It's slaying my heart and soul so effortlessly this one. Love it from start to finish. Lyrics, production, her voice and that little spanish talk...I just close my eyes when I listen to this I try to create the music video for it...red flamingo dress, rose on her hair wub.gif

Liar 11/10 - What a f***ing fierce track. Everytime I listen to it it just takes my breath away...easily in my top 10 Britney tracks.

If I'm Dancing - 09/10 - The beat omg...I am full blasting this on the car and it is so much fun and it just keeps growing and growing.

Coupure Electrique - 08/10 - I cringed when i first listened to this because of her french accent lol but it is all forgiving once the beat kicks in.

Moodring - 09/10 - Seriously Britney?! THIS only as japanese bonus edition track?

Posted by: Addy K!ng 14th September 2016, 03:25 PM

and I am fancying that Japanese release...I want it now tongue.gif wub.gif

Loon rate alert!

Invitation - The perfect song choice to start proceedings. It sets the tone of what 'Glory' is (mainly) about really effectively - it's smooth, sensual & sexy, like many of the tracks that follow. There's also an ethereal quality to 'Invitation' that is present in the production & the processed chorus vocals. I love her subtle vocal delivery in the verses too. Wonderful!

Make Me - This still stands tall as my ultimate highlight. wub.gif I honestly feel that Britney is at her very best when her vocals are soft & sultry, which is exactly how she sounds here. G-Eazy could easily have been an unnecessary "rent-a-rapper" moment, but his contribution is actually on point, leading the track into its climactic chorus. A very slick song that really deserved to be a bigger hit than it was... it's such a shame that radio were a bit cold towards it. I'm still a bit bewildered by the video treatment it received, but not even that ultimately detracted from how brilliant a song 'Make Me' is. In summary, it makes me moo oooh. x

Private Show - Over the past month I've really gone back and forth with how I feel about this track. Her vocals are a little shrill in certain sections, and I vary from finding that tolerable to annoying. Also, it doesn't really sit very comfortably amongst the tracks that surround it, which can make it seem a bit jarring when listening to the album track by track. On the plus side, 'Private Show' contains some really catchy hooks: "Work it work it boy watch me work it, slide down my pole watch me spin it and twerk it" still amuses me (in a good way)! Ultimately I'd say it's a fun track in isolation, but it doesn't fit in well within this body of work.

Man On The Moon - Such a sweet song. I can really sense the wistfulness in her vocals; I really believe what she's singing, like she's singing from the heart. It actually makes me feel a bit sad (that's not a bad thing, I like when a track taps into my emotions). The steadfast belief that "the one" is out there somewhere is a sentiment that touches me. FYI: I am also waiting for my man on the moon. cry.gif ( laugh.gif )

Just Luv Me - If Team Britney hadn't settled on 'Make Me', this would have been the second best choice. On an album titled 'Glory', this really is a glorious moment. In fact it's a glorious moment in her discography, period - one of her very best slow jams! Hard to describe this, but weirdly her vocals sound laid-back & urgent at the same time! It's a track that is stunning in its simplicity.

Clumsy - Britney takes the tempo up a notch here. It seems to be quite a divisive track amongst the fans, and while I don't regard it as a highlight, it's still enjoyable. Britney simply exclaiming "Oops!" is one of the most memorable moments on the album, I love that as a throwback.

Do You Wanna Come Over? - The album's stand out pop track for me. wub.gif I'm not sure how well it'd fit into today's music scene, but if it was a single I'd certainly consider this as a track that'd be on par with some of her classic hits.

Slumber Party - Definitely another "single worthy" moment and one of the songs I can imagine fitting into radio & Spotify playlists and connecting well with the public. The chorus is a bit of an earworm! Gotta love a Swearney moment too. ;o

Just Like Me - This one gets a bit of an unfair time, I think. It's a nice change of pace. 'Glory' doesn't provide a full-on ballad moment, and 'Just Like Me' is the closest we get to that. It's kind of like a more defiant 'Perfume'... "she can, she can, she can have you". *.*

Love Me Down - One word: banger! More words: incredibly catchy, reggae-infused, wonderfully produced, a ready-for-radio smash.

Hard To Forget Ya - The bridge reminds me of something Mandy Moore would have released in her early days! A repetitive chorus, which I feel is to the song's detriment - the rest of the song leads you to thinking you'll get a more exciting chorus than what is ultimately offered. It's not a song I go back to often, but when I do listen it's enjoyable enough. Not a bad track, just not a particularly exciting one. (I realise "repetitive" as a negative might sound a bit strange considering I'm praising tracks on 'Glory' that are just as repetitive, such as 'Love Me Down'... all I can say is that, simply, sometimes repetitiveness works, sometimes it doesn't!)

What You Need - If I'd got my rate over and done with when the thread went live, I'd have given this track a harsher score - maybe even as low as a 3. I just found it really grating and a bit of a "wtf" ending to the standard track list. However with further listens I've warmed up to it some more, and as Britney says at the end of the track, it's fun. Enough for me to give it a more generous 6. It still sticks out like a sore thumb though, it's a bit like Private Show in that respect.

Better - This song is very 2016, in keeping with DJ Snake / Major Lazer style tracks that is so on trend right now. That's very much a positive for me! The breakdown is glorious. Despite the clear influences, I don't think it's a lazy rip-off - there's still something very "Britney" about it, which lifts it from being generic. I think it sounds like it could be a smash hit single, but unfortunately due to it being a deluxe-only track, the chances of it being a single contender is unlikely.

Change Your Mind (No Seas Cortes) - The production on this one is so classy, as are Britney's vocals. There's something really mesmerising about this song that keeps me coming back for repeated listens.

Liar - Quite simply a fantastic pop track through and through. Single worthy, and pretty crazy that this was relegated to deluxe track status! The fan mash-up with NSYNC's 'Bye Bye Bye' really highlighted to me how this track could have stood proud amongst her early work!

If I'm Dancing - MAJOR BOP. I adore the barmy instrumental & the equally quirky lyrics, such as: 'he plays sitar, three notes so far...' *.* Plus a healthy dose of Britishney. Superb, and really should be included in the standard track list! Doesn't surprise me how it caught people's imaginations re: those meme videos. The Wendy Williams one is everything!

Coupure Electrique - I know some fans find her accent problematic, but... je ne parle pas français... angel.gif so I can't say that bothers me at all. To be honest I find it commendable that she's pushing herself with experimentation, to the point of recording a track in a different language! It's a really interesting & unique moment on the album, very captivating, and the perfect closer to the deluxe edition (it wouldn't fit anywhere else). I also love that it's a little nod to 'Blackout', her best album. x

Mood Ring - Quite a shame that this was demoted to Japanese-only status! Those lucky Japanese fans; Britney saved a great track to provide extra purchase incentive there. It'd easily slot into the main body of the standard album! "Think I've been here before. I've turned some hearts into stone. And I can't hide it no more." has been stuck in my head ever since it leaked. <3

8.0 Invitation
The track is a good opener. Nice etheral production but it is one I tend to skip. The main thing that jars is the overpowering backing vocals that aren't Britney's. A bit like a poor man's He About To Lose Me when comparing tracks with muted lead chorus vocals from Britney.

9.5 Do You Wanna Come Over
What a great poppy addition. Like what Oops I Did it Again's album may sound like in 2016 with a more mature subject matter. Maybe a single treatment should be applied with a slutty video.

8.5 Make Me
When I first heard this track I was like 'wow Britney's singing on lead single' which was brilliant. Then the oohs made me fangirl. Unfortunately G Easy just doesn't sit right with me and the rap grates depending on my mood. Shame it didn't slay.

9.0 Private Show
Wow. Just wow. A smoker's rasp and little trace of vocal manipulation. Yasss! So good I recorded a karaoke version of this on Smule Sing.

11 Man on the Moon
I almost cried at how beautiful and hopeful this song sounds. It reminds me of the song from Dreamgirls where Eddie Murphy records the song Effie's brother wrote and Jamie Foxx hated it. In another time this could have been a number 1 single.

6.0 Just Luv Me
Not being a fan of the whole tropical trend this is the track I skip the most. Rather forgettable but would be a hit if Bieber "sang" it no doubt.

10 Clumsy
I love the Sister Act thing going on with this song. The verses and bridges pack a fair punch and then that drop just makes me ooooooh. It makes my housemate leave the room though before he gets aural vertigo if that's possible.

8.5 Slumber Party
A grower which becomes a bit more of a singalong track after a few plays. Not quite single material but maybe the right video treatment could give it a push.

8.0 Just Like Me
Some nice natural sounding vocals in the verses gave me Sheryl Crow feels. Maybe more development of the chorus and a slightly longer length could have made the track feel more like a completed piece of work.

8.0 Love me Down
Aside from not knowing what the fudge not loving someone down means it's got enough la la las to make it listenable but not an essential track.

8.5 Hard to Forget Ya
Sounds like a track Britney could have made for Oops or Britney. Like the sharp vocal stabs pre-chorus. Gives it a bit of fierceness. Maybe more of a vocal melody would make it sound less like a Circus reject.

8.5 What You Need
Great sexy track but which again feels incomplete with the last third being ad libs and backing vocalists taking over. Very short track which could have been given a Proud Mary treatment.

8.0 Better
Another track I tend to skip but if I don't I realise it's not actually that bad because it reminds of Middle by DJ Snake.

9.0 Change Your Mind
Vocals are reminiscent of In The Zone era Britney. I do enjoy grooving to this in the car with the windows down. Penelope Cruz soundalike is a bit like the woman on Beyonce's Drunk in Love.

8.0 Liar
I'll admit I don't get the love for this track. Another one I tend to skip. In the words of Forrest Gump: "that's all I've got to say about that".

10 If I'm Dancing
If I could have another 11 it would be for this. I always go full-on dance routine mode in the iamspamspamamiwhen this comes on. It's like Timbaland meets Sophie Ellis Bextor at a Eurovision songwriting camp.

9.0 Coupure Electrique
I love a bit of French and with its nod to Blackout I can only add this is a great bookend when compared to Invitation.

6.0 Moodring
I won't be rushing to download this track off Ilimewiretunes....

8.48 out of 10 is the final score on my Glory rate. I may do rates for the other albums to see how I really compare this to them. Off the top of my head I'd say this is probably 4th after Fatte Female, Blackout and In the Zone.

10 Invitation - oh my god. I'm so in love with this song dance.gif It's one of my most played, I just love Britney's voice with this kinda sound. I love love love the second verse!

9.0 Make Me - this song is yo-yoing with me, I loved it when it first came out, then I kinda got tired of it, now it's one of my faves again and I think it's gonna stay this way. It would probably be a 10 if not for G-Eazy!

9.0 Private Show - I loved it when it first came out but it's kind of been overshadowed now, still love it though!

11 Man On The Moon - YES! YES! YES! The chorus is heavenly (aliiiiii-I've been....), the xylophone, Italianney. It's my second favourite Britney album song of all time, just after Amnesia, and it's close! This just makes me feel like a little kid again, it's so magical (this is the best word to describe it for me). It's perfect. Literally thinking of it even gets me emotional lol, I never thought we'd get this Britney again, it's just timeless, classic Britney. I could go on about this all day so I better wrap this up!

7.5 Just Luv Me - I can see why people would like this but it's not really my cup of tea. It's too current for me lol. It should definitely be a single. I don't hate it but I wouldn't listen to it if it was by anybody else.

2.0 Clumsy - the dud of the album for me. Literally the only one I dislike.

8.5 Do You Wanna Come Over? - this one has grown on me a lot

8.5 Slumber Party - I like this! It's trendy, this should be a single as well

8.5 Just Like Me - I never see anybody mentioning this but I actually really like it!

7.5 Love Me Down - I haven't listened to this a lot actually, maybe it'll grow on me.

9.5 Hard To Forget Ya - this is probably the most underrated imo. The

7.0 What You Need - It's not bad but I can't get into it.

9.0 Better - I like this a lot more than everybody else!

9.0 Change Your Mind - it's a grower, I love the Spanish part! The verses are great too.

9.5 Liar - Yes! I love this! So epic sounding and poppy, I don't know why it's been relegated to the deluxe.

8.5 If I'm Dancing - I wanna like this song more than I do, the verses are great but the noise after the chorus is annoying and reminds me too much of Femme Fatale for me to really love it lol.

9.0 Coupure Electrique - I don't get why everybody hates this, I mean I can't understand a word but I love it! It's so creepy lol

9.0 Mood Ring - Omg just heard this, it's great! I would definitely put it on the album over Clumsy. The bridge is my fave wub.gif

I love this album! That's 8.44 for me overall. It's definitely the best she's released this decade and it's probably 3 or 4 for me overall. I love that it's a month later and this album just gets better with every listen. I haven't heard Mood Ring yet, I'll add it when I do.

If I picked singles it would go:

1. Man On The Moon (let's face it, she probably isn't going to get airplay anyway so why go trend-chasing? Something different like this might even catch people's attention more
2. Just Luv Me (assuming Man On The Moon flops lol)
3. Better
4. Slumber Party
5. Liar

I hope we get more than 2 singles this era! sad.gif Not for the charts lol I just want videos

Posted by: Cremey 23rd September 2016, 09:47 PM

Have updated my 'Mood Ring' score now to a 10. I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT.
It could actually challenge 'Just Luv Me' for my favourite on the album. Always love DJ Mustard productions and this has definitely got that 'Needed Me' vibe going on which I really can't get enough of.

The only thing which stops it being my 11 is the offputting adlibs towards the end (which aren't even Britney?)
