BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ The X Factor 2016 - Chart Predictions

Posted by: cqmerqn Oct 16 2016, 03:21 PM

With The XFactor in full swing, I think it's time to get some early predictions in.

This obviously all depends on the winner/single but I think it could be fun to see how well/bad we did when the XFactor finishes. dance.gif

Obviously this all depends on the winner but sadly I'm once again doubting a #1 for the winner. I do think it will fare better than Louisa's though, as hopefully they'll have learnt their lesson and will pick a much better song! So I'm going for:

Top 5
40-70k first week sales
Not Christmas #1
Not Spotify top 50 in week 1

I went for:

Top 40 (would've picked Top 20 but I forgot to add that option)
20-40k sales (leaning towards 40k)
Not Christmas #1
Yes at entering Spotify Top 50

I went for:

Debut? Top 5
First week sales? 40k-70k
Christmas #1? No
Spotify top 50 in week 1? No

Top 20

10k-20k (go around 18ish)

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 16 2016, 06:02 PM

Top 20 (around #12-#16)
About 28k
Nope
Nope > But wouldn't surprise me if it actually managed #49 or something on the first couple of days, before falling out like 49-87-163-OUT or something <

Gone are the days of tracks debuting at #1 - I think the XF winner will struggle this year with the impact of streaming and they will probably do a Louisa.

Top 5
Sales above 70k
No to Xmas #1
Yes to Spotify Top 50

All based on my assumption that Matt will win it. Unfortunately he's popular and Simon won't make the same mistake twice with a ridiculous winner's single like Forever Young so Top 5. Syco are surely going to promote this single heavily regardless of who wins since FY's chart run was a flop (in relative terms) and another one would damage the brand a lot.

And that they only have 5 days of sales so there's no chance they will debut at #1

The whole concept is outdated. Simon Cowell should make X-Factor about groups not solo artists. Rant over, this is what I've gone for:

Top 5 (At a stretch. It depends on the artist and the song)
40-70K (if the song fits the season and tons of people jump on the streaming)
Not Christmas #1 (Simon should release it way before Christmas)
No to entering Spotify Top 50 (depends on what else is out around that time)

Matt is gonna win, isn't he? think he's the only one that could sell singles

Posted by: danG Oct 21 2016, 12:02 PM

I'd be very surprised if it were anyone else. If they give him a good song I think it could sell well, though #1 is no guarantee.

Matt is just another boring but good looking, personality void guy who will get votes on the show but flop in the charts. They may rush release an album for him to be released at Mother's Day. I can't see them pushing him properly later in the year.

Male solo singers only do well these days if they play the guitar, it seems. Or if they're Sam Smith.

I honestly dont think this is something you can predict before hearing the song, I think the big downfall to Louisa last year only getting #9 was because the song was terrible, Last year was the only year x factor didn't make number one.

I made my predictions assuming Matt as the winner. Any other winner and my answers would be lower.

With just 5 contestants left has anyone changed their predictions? smile.gif

Ed Sheeran has wrote the winners single apparently so it could be a contender for no 1!

I think with either Matt or Saara as winner, it has a good shot. But it needs to be a good song. I have high hopes as Ed Sheeran is writing it.

The song is likely to debut with 40-70k, which was the joint-majority vote!
It's on course to debut top 5
It debuted top 50 on spotify in its first week,

We didn't do that bad actually! ohmy.gif
