From the BBC: QUOTE Together on Graham’s sofa tonight: music icon Madonna, promoting her new album Madame X and upcoming shows at the London Palladium; acting legend Sir Ian McKellen, talking about touring and turning 80; director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionnaire) and actors Lily James and Himesh Patel, talking about their new comedy fantasy Yesterday; and singer Sheryl Crow, who performs her new single Still the Good Old Days.

Looking forward to this! I said earlier this year that I hoped Madonna would appear on the show but share the couch with other guests so that we could see her interact with them. Would have been great if she could perform as well, of course, but ah well.

Fabulous, hilarious interview! She was unashamedly herself, terrifying and honest, yet in a loveable way. Really happy with it <3

That was definitely one of her better interviews I think, it made me smile so much. It was interesting hearing about her family and her move to Portugal rather than just the same questions I've heard loads of times before. It was good that she carried on interacting with Ian, Sheryl etc after her slot without taking over their slots like some other guests do.

When she first started with the "not used to sharing the coach" stuff, I thought, here we go again... but she really warmed to her time there and it was a lovely interview. The way she spoke about her children and how the older ones would rather Madonna wasn't their mother was quite heart-breaking. Her story in Portugal too is a nice one to hear about and helps to contextualise the album and its sounds.

Nervous to see this. She’s the top trend on Twitter and the majority of the tweets are pretty rude / unsavoury.
I do think personality wise she can be misunderstood though but I’ll judge for myself later. All promo is good promo though I suppose. |

See what you think... I honestly thought she was fine, a shame to see such poor reactions from people. It was awkward at the beginning when she said "I'm not used to sharing the couch" but I think that was about her not knowing where to sit and trying to make a joke but it just sounded a bit off... the other bit I guess was her not remembering something from a long time ago with Ian but it's hardly rude to not recall something!
It's one of those things where you can choose how you wish to view it I guess and unfortunately a lot of people revel in any potential failure these days. |

It's why I stay off Twitter in moments like these there is also a lot of positivity for her but Twitter is just clouded with negativity so I'm not taking it as gospel

And of course Piers Morgan has had his say
Good Morning Britain host Piers was also watching on Saturday morning, and he shared: ‘Madonna on Norton: rude, vain, obnoxious & looked ridiculous.’ |

Madonna always seems nervous in these types of interviews and she has a very dry sense of humour, both those factors together makes it seem to some like she's being rude or whatever but, as Jordan said, it's usually people misinterpreting her personality. I think she actually likes it when people can have banter with her and not put her on a pedestal because she's Madonna; I noticed she seemed comfortable with Ian McKellen because of it and I reckon that's why she seems to enjoy being interviewed by Graham Norton.
Anyway, I enjoyed it! |
