This will be the only big Calvin Harris song which won't appear on a NOW or any other compilation album due to Rihanna's involvement in the song and she doesn't like her music appearing on compilations. Then again, it's up to him in this case but saying that, Beyoncé appeared on NOW 92 even though she doesn't allow her music to appear on compilations

Well my excitement for this Calvin single has now seriously grown!!! Rihanna and Calvin are such a good combo as We Found Love proved..

Posted by: HausofKubrick Apr 28 2016, 06:13 AM

I'm not sure what this will be like but I can't imagine it being a WFL Pt. II especially as Rihanna is now a ~super cool urban ghetto~ artist. I am intrigued as to what sound they go for and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I expect a high-octane, dark number that wouldn't feel out of place on 'Anti' remixed.

Posted by: mdh Apr 28 2016, 06:22 AM

Any ideas when this'll get a release?

Posted by: LB1108 Apr 28 2016, 06:56 AM

It's out tomorrow biggrin.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 28 2016, 11:14 AM

I am kind of excited about this, but at the same time want to keep my expectations low as they're both fairly hit and miss.

Posted by: djgrafdemon Apr 28 2016, 03:38 PM

Honestly, I'm not really excited, just wondered which kind of sound they choose. And - please, Calvin, be clement - I hope he won't release new tracks every week or 2, don't see any sense in it.

Posted by: Liаm Apr 28 2016, 03:42 PM

We Found Love is possibly Rihanna's most overrated but I do still like it, Calvin has been very hit and miss for me recently but I think Rihanna and him will deliver and I'm excited to hear this!

Clip here, can't tell much but it sounds good! This sounds like it building to a drop or a big chorus.

So so here for this banger.

Posted by: Davidson Apr 28 2016, 05:25 PM

Not sure about the 'you-ooh' bits, they are a bit annoying and her voice is so distorted she doesn't even sound like her anymore and just sounds like some generic random vocalist.

We will see what the full thing sounds like.

Posted by: LushLife Apr 28 2016, 05:26 PM

I'm ready for Calvin & Rihanna to go to #1 next week.

Will it be on Spotify tomorrow? If so we are looking at the next #1

Posted by: Robot Apr 28 2016, 06:50 PM

I am so excited for this, I'm trying not to be because my expectations are probably too high after We Found Love (one of my favourite songs of all time) but it's that very reason I'm excited.

COME ON. DELIVER.

I agree it sounds as if almost any vocalist could do it. But it's only intro so I hope there's some room for Rihanna to show her individuality.
EDM tracks often leave too little space for vocalist.

This track is doomed to be popular, we will be hearing it all the time so I hope I like it smile.gif

Posted by: slowdown73 Apr 28 2016, 10:48 PM

I hope this will be a lot better than Rihanna's recent solo stuff. I'm guessing it will be more pop/dance than her dire urban stuff.

Posted by: Taylor Jago Apr 29 2016, 05:07 AM

Hopefully we get something half-decent from Rihanna for once. We Found Love was fabulous.

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 29 2016, 07:14 AM

It's fairly in line with HDIYL, but with a less chunky bassline. It's a decent track on the first 2/3 listens!

It's good, really good. It's not another WFL or as good.. Buts it's a solid track. I just wish it really took off somewhere, it's not as big as I was expecting

Posted by: Josh. Apr 29 2016, 07:25 AM

This is such a tune, that chorus is undeniably catchy. My only nitpick is that I wish it sounded a bit more like Rihanna but on the verses you can still tell so don't mind too much.

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 29 2016, 07:47 AM

Actually, when I think about it this reminds me more of 'Thinking About You' than HDIYL.

Posted by: Joe. Apr 29 2016, 07:52 AM

Sorry to be the cloud of doom but this is very underwhelming for me. I mean, it'll do. It's fun, but if it had not had Rihanna on it and was just an album track I can imagine it'd get much attention.

Posted by: ML Hammer95 Apr 29 2016, 07:57 AM

Sounds like a weaker version of 'How Deep Is Your Love' to be honest. Will inevitably be huge in the UK.

Pretty much my feelings on the matter. I'm sure it'll eventually click and sound great in the sun but I doubt it'll end up being one of my favourites. Tbh Calvin's peak was looong ago and lost what made his sound recognisably him.

Totally agree! It's ok but for a song by these two I expect so much more, I also thought of random album track by a no-marker laugh.gif It might grow but it's a bit meh for me right now.

Posted by: spadogs Apr 29 2016, 10:06 AM

Agreed with the HDIYL similarities (I never really loved it as much as everyone else seemed to) but this sounds like a much better part 2 of it music.gif (the chorus gave me some Lean On teas too!)

Posted by: danG Apr 29 2016, 10:33 AM

It's AMAZING!!

Not quite as good as 'How Deep Is Your Love' but it's making a really good first impression on me, so great to have Calvin and Rihanna back together on a song and I also love that it's not a 'We Found Love' part 2, as great as that song is.

Posted by: Joe. Apr 29 2016, 10:52 AM

Zara Larsson revealed on Twitter that she recorded the demo for this. I have to say, it doesn't sound very distinctly Rihanna, it could be anyone on the track.

Does it matter much that it's not in the style of a normal Rihanna song?? it's nice to hear her doing something different and it is Calvin's song really.

Well it doesn't matter when it comes the the overall enjoyment of a song, but when you have a huge hyped feature on a second you'd hope for at least a little of the feature's personality to be injected onto the track.

(Btw, Calvin confirmed his next single is another Dizzee collab)

Posted by: JosephStyles Apr 29 2016, 11:52 AM

I agree with Joe that the vocals could really be by anyone here. The song is quite good, I enjoy it, but it doesn't go anywhere really unfortunately.

Posted by: Euphorique Apr 29 2016, 01:18 PM

It all sounds a bit MEH to me.

Posted by: J▲hq Apr 29 2016, 01:24 PM

It's OK, doesn't sound particularly special, but at least it's not awful like HDIYL which others have brought up.

Posted by: Chez Wombat Apr 29 2016, 01:41 PM

It's...decent. I wasn't left with any strong feelings, but I admire the subtlety, especially coming from Calvin & appreciate that it isn't just an attempt to recreate We Found Love (which is my favourite from both artists and would've been quite hard to top). Just think it could pack a bit more of a punch than it does and it sort of builds and builds in the verses if only to not really go anywhere in the breakdown, hopefully a grower.

Posted by: Cody Is The Name Apr 29 2016, 02:21 PM

I think I agree more with the comparisons to "Thinking About You" rather than HDIYL or WFL. It's like a hybrid of the three.

That said, it sounds pretty nice, but I'm not completely in love with it. I'm pretty sure I'll be obsessed with it in a few days.

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 Apr 29 2016, 02:46 PM

It's ok, sounded better on 2nd listen but I am quite disappointed sad.gif

Posted by: spadogs Apr 29 2016, 03:03 PM

I don't however really see the comparisons to TAY if I'm honest kink.gif although that's my favourite track by him.

Posted by: *Tim Apr 29 2016, 03:04 PM

I'm confused as to why it is so important to people that a song "couldn't be sung by everybody". Like half of the hitsongs could be sang by a lot of people?

Posted by: HarryEzra Apr 29 2016, 03:40 PM

I actually disagree with 'Sung by anybody' I instantly could tell it was Rihanna in the chorus laugh.gif

Also I dont get why everyone is saying their 'disappointed'. Would you want another We Found Love, because that would be very boring and even more disappointing. Its clear he wanted to do something and at the same time stick to the same sort of sound of How Deep Is Your Love laugh.gif It was pretty much what I was expecting and wanted

Posted by: burbe Apr 29 2016, 03:50 PM

It's not as amazing as I had hoped for, but pretty good. Nice to have another Calvin & Rihanna collab!

I think he meant something along the lines of the song being sounding just as good as if another singer sung it. In this example I would agree that someone else could have sung it and it wouldn't lose quality of the song, maybe even improve it.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Apr 29 2016, 03:56 PM

Posted by: slowdown73 Apr 29 2016, 05:38 PM

Just heard this before. It's ok but certainly not as catchy as some of his other lead singles. It's a bit dull and not very memorable.

Posted by: SevenSeize Apr 29 2016, 06:00 PM

Well that turned out pretty boring laugh.gif sort of just like an inferior version of Thinking About You, and none of the spark or life that made We Found Love good either

Posted by: Regina Apr 29 2016, 06:07 PM

This is just another run of the mill crapp dance song. Assuming BJ is lapping this up because of who is involved.

Posted by: ♦ ketalina ♦ Apr 29 2016, 06:47 PM

loving the subtlety of this but it needs just a BIT more oomph in the bassness / drums of it to push it further

can tell i'll be obsessed. those chopped up vocals!

Posted by: Cody Is The Name Apr 29 2016, 06:50 PM

Is "This could have been sung by anyone" the new "This song was ghost produced"?

Posted by: Davidson Apr 29 2016, 07:22 PM

Yeah, this is really shite.

Sorry RiRi, stick to the Anti sound rather than this generic rubbish thanks.

Posted by: Ja˙ Apr 29 2016, 07:43 PM

Love love love!

I was fully expecting it to be subtle in comparison to 'We Found Love', so from that perspective I'm not let down by it at all. I really appreciate that it has a different vibe actually.

Is this song reinventing the wheel? Not at all. Is it an enjoyable song for the time being? In my opinion, absolutely! It's on repeat. wub.gif

Posted by: Dobbo Apr 29 2016, 08:21 PM

Pleasant enough but nothing to get me off my seat exactly.

The you parts are a bit too repetitive.

Posted by: Jonjo Apr 30 2016, 10:31 PM

This is an utter jam. Hopefully it'll be the big summer smash it deserves to be. I love how it's the complete other side of the spectrum to 'We Found Love' and I actually think it works in it's favour, hugely. So feel good and care free <3

I meant it as in that Rihanna just sounds like some generic session singer on this to me. I feel like it lacks a bit of personality which she is very much capable of bringing to a song. It's not bad by any means, I rather enjoy it, but it could've been better I think. Definitely glad it's not some We Found Love rip-off at least heehee.gif

Posted by: Ja˙ May 1 2016, 01:06 AM

My mum recognised that it was Rihanna singing, without me telling her ;o heehee.gif

Posted by: LushLife May 1 2016, 03:36 AM

I'm not sure how I feel, I like the sound but part of me wishes that it was a little bit darker.

Zara was originally meant to be on the song and she recorded the demo for it, I hope it leaks soon.

Posted by: gooddelta May 1 2016, 10:02 AM

I like it, the verses, bridge/hook and production are really great and Rihanna sounds good on it. The 'you-ooo-ooh-ooh-ooh' chorus suits the subtlety of the track, as much as part of me wished for something bigger.

As much as it's one of my favourite songs of the decade, I respect them for not putting out a We Found Love clone as I doubt that would have turned out welll.

Posted by: Jack May 1 2016, 11:20 AM

It feels too lazy, any song that just repeats the same word over and over again as the chorus and has about 10 words of lyrics isn't my kinda song.

The production isn't all that either, just Calvin Harria by numbers and sounds like it was designed to be catered for Capital FM.

Posted by: Slick May 1 2016, 11:26 AM

I'm not hugely impressed by this. It's mostly "you-oo" over and over, and we know they're both capable of so much more.

That said, I do enjoy it, but it's a bit of a disappointment considering who's involved.

Posted by: Robot May 2 2016, 02:43 PM

I wasn't hugely impressed either on first listen, probably because of my high expectations. And because it's reminiscent of Thinking About You, which is like Calvin's worst song of the past 5 years for me. You know I love me a big breakdown.

HOWEVER, maybe it's because I want to love it, I can't stop playing it. I've become quite hooked on it.

Posted by: Virginia's Walls May 2 2016, 02:46 PM

I'm sorry but this just isn't enough to grt me off my tractor.

Posted by: Jonjo May 2 2016, 04:33 PM

This is so breezy and wonderful and I disagree that it's "typical Calvin". It's a shame some people aren't latching onto this the same way, but it's fast becoming one of my faves of the year.

Also, I think Rihanna is instantly recognisable on this, so I also disagree with the comment that this sounds like it could be anyone.

Posted by: Juliano May 2 2016, 04:42 PM

I am also another one that doesn't see how this track is anything but generic, but I prefer it to Work.

Posted by: ♦ ketalina ♦ May 2 2016, 06:36 PM

considering 'thinking about you' is pretty much my favourite calvin harris song i am SO into this now

Posted by: burbe May 3 2016, 07:43 PM

I really like this, it's just disappointing that it wasn't something more revolutionary after We Found Love.

Posted by: Atonement May 4 2016, 10:40 AM

This is so addictive but if it wasn't with Rihanna I wouldn't care for it at all. She should've featured on HDIYL which is actually a tune and a half.

Posted by: Cremey May 4 2016, 12:28 PM

This sounds so damn good in the sun 💃🏿

Posted by: Josh. May 6 2016, 12:33 PM

This is pretty banging really. I do think I prefer We Found Love but the ooh bits are extremely catchy and it sounds phenomenal when loud and sunny. A bit gutted it probably won't be a #1 due to Drake, he's had his time. I know Calvin's videos are usually dreadfully boring as well but I think this deserves at least a semi-interesting one, hopefully with plenty of Rihanna too.

So following reports that came out today, Taylor's rep has now confirmed that she was one of the co-writers of this song and used a pseudonym to avoid detection. This is still pretty mch the weakest single Rihanna has ever released. Well I'll say my least favourite rather than "weakest", because I can see how people like it but I just cannot get into it at all. I think I was so hyped for it as Anti was a bit less commercial than we were used to from Rihanna on the whole so I was looking foward to a more poppy dance song, but this just fell flat for me.

This never caught on for me. It's not annoying or irritating or bad or anything...It's just very MEH. It's the kind of song Calvin would release as an instant grat instead of as a big single. If Rihanna wasn't attached to it, and it has been Ina, as with HDIYL, I think it would have been a Hype-type flop.
