Why "Ring Ring" ?
It's the most underrated, but my favourite ABBA album and there is not obvious winner. Tracklist : 1. Ring Ring 2. Another Town, Another Train 3. Disillusion 4. People Need Love 5. I Saw It in the Mirror 6. Nina, Pretty Ballerina 7. Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) 8. Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother 9. He Is Your Brother 10. She's My Kind of Girl 11. I Am Just a Girl 12. Rock'n Roll Band Do we have any another fans of "Ring Ring" era on Buzzjack ? Discuss, rate the songs and open your mind for retro pop (if you didn't heard it before) Rules of rate : without -1 and 11, but you can give any mark from 0 to 10 with 0.5 step. 09 Ring Ring
08 Another Town, Another Train 09 Disillusion 09 People Need Love 05 I Saw It in the Mirror 08 Nina, Pretty Ballerina 09 Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) 07 Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother 08 He Is Your Brother 07 She's My Kind of Girl 07 I Am Just a Girl 07 Rock'n Roll Band It's a surprisingly solid album, though not that essential. Definitely better than Waterloo and ABBA, but I'd rank it below all the other albums because they have a lot more scope and lyrical complexity. |

Ring Ring was also released as a single release in 1973 as their entry into that year's Eurovision entry but it wasn't chosen.
It was also their first release in the UK but flopped. After the success of Waterloo it was re-released and peaked at UK #32. The following single was So Long which also flopped in the UK. Then came I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do. This peaked at UK #38. Next came SOS and we all know the chart explosion from then on. |

09 Ring Ring 06 Another Town, Another Train 05 Disillusion 08 People Need Love 05 I Saw It in the Mirror 07 Nina, Pretty Ballerina 06 Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) 06 Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother 08 He Is Your Brother 06 She's My Kind of Girl 05 I Am Just a Girl 08 Rock'n Roll Band not one i've played a lot, only bought it in more recent years, so the tracks I know best are those on the first Greatest Hits which I did play a lot in 1976... |

Near every song from album was a single in any country.
No doubt, it's my favourite ABBA album and only one, which I always love to listen from start to finish. Male vocals are not bad, shame the group will not use them later. Two beautiful ballads with Agnetha vocals "Disillusion" (only one ABBA song, co-written by Agnetha) and "I Am Just A Girl" are my personal highlights of "Ring Ring" album. If I will complete the full ABBA ranking (with all 100 released songs) in future, most possible three "Ring Ring" tracks will reach top 10. 09 : Ring Ring 09 : Another Town, Another Train 10 : Disillusion 08 : People Need Love 07 : I Saw It In The Mirror 09 : Nina, Pretty Ballerina 08 : Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) 09 : Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother 07 : He Is Your Brother 08 : She's My Kind Of Girl 10 : I Am Just A Girl 08 : Rock'n Roll Band |

More flopped rate, than Demi Lovato and Pixie Lott rates.
Next choice can be from 80s or 90s. Which you want more ? This post has been edited by Sword of Justice: Apr 15 2015, 11:15 AM |

10 Ring Ring
07 Another Town, Another Train 10 Disillusion 08 People Need Love (the first time I heard this and the yodelling came in, I was like WTF :lol ) 04 I Saw It in the Mirror 08 Nina, Pretty Ballerina 05 Love Isn't Easy (But It Sure Is Hard Enough) (was never sure if that was meant to be an innuendo) 07 Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother 09 He Is Your Brother (The only early song apart from the title track that they were still playing live come 1977) 10 She's My Kind of Girl (smash hit in Japan) 07 I Am Just a Girl 08 Rock'n Roll Band Not their best album by any means but Ring Ring, Disillusion and SMKOG are perfection. |

What you all think about a rate of any Bucks Fizz album or Bucks Fizz singles rate can bring some new voters, not traditional 2-3 retro pop geeks ?

Singles rate maybe, not sure there are enough fans out there (and certainly not on here) for an album rate,

Why "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?
It's the most signature British album of all 90s decade. Tracklist : 1. Hello 2. Some Might Say 3. Roll With It 4. Morning Glory 5. Wonderwall 6. Hey Now 7. Don't Look Back In Anger 8. Champagne Supernova 9. Cast No Shadow 10. She's Electric P.S. : I exclude two fourty seconds tracks. Discuss, rate the songs and open your mind for retro pop (if you didn't heard it before) Rules of rate : without -1 and 11, but you can give any mark from 0 to 10 with 0.5 step. |

One of the most overrated albums of the 90s. It plods in several places. Not least of which is Wonderwall. I dislike Noel's vocals in general...they certainly bring a dadrock sound to it which strangely seems to be missing from his solo work. Some Might Say and Morning Glory are the two I would choose to listen to if I had to. The rest is ok and I hate none of it. 7/10.

Next album will be from 80s.
Which artists / albums can bring at last some comments ? Bonnie Tyler ? Pet Shop Boys ? Maybe Bucks Fizz singles rate ? (I wanted to choose any their album, but it seems pointless, because most peoples on this forum even did heard all their singles and don't have a wish to listen any good retro pop material) P.S. I don't want to choose early Madonna, early Kylie (both have artist forums) and Michael Jackson (because "Thriller" is very mainstream for this thread). |

03 Hello
09 Some Might Say 03 Roll With It 09 Morning Glory 10 Wonderwall 10 Hey Now 10 Don't Look Back In Anger 10 Champagne Supernova 11 Cast No Shadow 10 She's Electric One of the best albums ever imo. It sums up the mid 90s for me and is deservedly a classic. My favourite Oasis track (Cast No Shadow) is nestled amount some classics. I have never particularly liked Roll With It though - poor single choice. |

06. Hello
09. Some Might Say 02. Roll With It 04. Morning Glory 03. Wonderwall ??. Hey Now (I can't even remember what "Hey Now" sounds like!) 01. Don't Look Back In Anger 01. Champagne Supernova 04. Cast No Shadow -1. She's Electric I think we all really wanted it to be better than it was at the time. The tracks which could just about fit on the debut album (Hello and Some Might Say) are ok but everything else just serves to remind us of what happens when a band grows bigger than the scene that produced it. The reason Definitely Maybe sounds much better is because the general sound of it was heavily influenced by what was in at the time on Creation (Teenage Fanclub, Boo Radleys, Ride etc) but when the Gallaghers became famous, they ditched the fuzz for limp versions of their 60s and 70s heroes and, in turn, helped kill of the early 90s sound and introduce a very boring dadrock template for their contemporaries to subscribe to. She's Electric may be the worst Oasis song of all time. I do remember it was extremely popular with those who became fans around the time of Knebworth*. * music snobbery alert |

08. Hello
10. Some Might Say 10. Roll With It 11. Morning Glory 10. Wonderwall 07. Hey Now 10. Don't Look Back In Anger 10. Champagne Supernova 09. Cast No Shadow 09. She's Electric Loony as HELL but I don't even care, easily one of my favourites of all time! The classics like 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger' are incredible but 'Morning Glory' ignites so many feelings that it had to take my 11, WHAT a song. I've always found 'Roll With It' underrated too. Largely excellent with a couple of less memorable moments. Second favourite band of all time. if 11's are acceptable, then my 10 for Wonderwall should be upgraded to 11 cos it's a classic. It just is, stick it on in a pub and singalong and get goosebumps!
