It's not good if she is planning to release new music next year!? Unless she is able to negotiate a good contract she will banned from performing on all sorts of shows, concerts etc, they are clauses in their contracts. Also definitely no tour. It's very brave of her to do it so early in her career too with not as big a back catalogue as the likes of Cher, Elton John, Celine Dion even Britney Spears who have enjoyed successful stints there before her.
I hope it pays off though, I saw Cher and Diana Ross there (Cher at the Monte Carlo Park Theatre, and Diana Ross at the Venetian). They are great venues with fantastic views wherever you sit as they are not as big as arenas and the like.

I think this is probably because of her health issues? Not good to travel around the world for a year, doing a residency is way easier in that sense as she LOVES to perform.

This is interesting. She's not at the level Britney was at when she decided to take on the residency, so it's a really interesting move. Have Vegas ever had someone who is as relevant/so new (i.e. not two Decades or so) into their careers as Gaga is right now?
But I'm happy for her. I was hesitant about Britney's at first, but it's done absolute WONDERS for her performance abilities post Blackout and her health. It was also one of the most successful Vegas stints ever. So I reckon with Gaga still being as prominent in the charts as she is, it's going to do incredibly well.
I hope she has struck a deal that lets her promote her material at the very least though.
Britney has changed the stigma of Las Vegas residencies tbh. It's no longer "the place artists go to die" or whatever, it's become a cool thing and it's where artists get to do what they do best and perform every night, without having to travel and keep their careers alive slightly. The stans will travel from wherever they are to go see the show, no matter what and that's only ever a good thing for LV!
I'm excited for her and we ALL know what kind of show Gaga puts on.

I disagree actually. Elton John has been doing Vegas residencies for years and he still achieves #1 albums and hits here and there. Cher did her first Vegas residency back in the 60's and her career has had massive highs since. Celine Dion has been doing her residency for years and yet still releases albums (although not to the same success). Bruno Mars is currently at the Monte Carlo and he is bigger than he has ever been...

The residency doesn't mean she can't do anything. I believe she'll have "only" 74 shows in two years.
This rules out a lengthy world tour but nothing else.

The MGM Park Theater series will be split between Gaga's pop tunes and 'Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano' sets.
It will be a very joyous holiday season for Little Monsters, now that Lady Gaga has announced that her anticipated Las Vegas residency at the MGM Park Theater will kick off on Dec. 28.
Gaga finally revealed the dates for the shows on Tuesday morning (Aug. 7). They will be split into two different performances in the intimate venue, one entitled Lady Gaga Enigma and the other Lady Gaga Jazz & Piano.
Enigma is described as a "brand-new odyssey of her pop hits built as an experience unlike any other," while Jazz & Piano will be feature "stripped-down versions of her hits as well as music from the Great American Songbook. “I can’t wait to share ENIGMA with all of my fans and with Las Vegas," Gaga said in a press release announcing the dual series. "We’re creating a show unlike anything I’ve done before. It will be a celebration of all that is unique and different within us. The challenges of bravery can be overcome with creativity and courage that is grown out of adversity, love and music.”

The Chromatica queen went bigger than ever with her Vegas residency, bringing two completely different shows to the Strip. All eyes were on Park MGM when Lady Gaga debuted Enigma there in the winter of 2018, and she has continued to pack seats with both that and Jazz & Piano (not to mention her occasional appearances inside NoMad bar). I don't understand the fans' hatred for this residency, I love it, the looks, the performances, many artists attending the show (Celine, Bradley, Tony, Katy...).

She named the residency 'Enigma' because she was going to release Chromatica in 2019 during the period of this residency and Enigma - the song - must have been one of the first tracks completed, but as we all know, Gaga is a perfectionist and her albums always suffer last-minute changes and this extended the deadline for the completion of the album, and because it was not ready she decided to hold all the songs that were already ready and finish the ones that had already been started, to release all the new material in the form of a new album.

I was thinking about this earlier! Mainly because this tweet popped up:
and it reminded me of this incredible photoshoot from a few years back. The images were never used (in the Enigma show or obviously in Chromatica) so it was perhaps the initial images for the era that was planned two years ago but then scrapped.

She could release unreleased songs as a surprise, but calling it a "brand new album" (Drake has the habit of doing this). I see no reason to keep songs ready for release, locked up, this is a banquet for ambitious labels to make a lot of money releasing unreleased songs after the artist's death.

According to the MGM president, Enigma will return to Vegas later this year. Not sure if there are additional dates or just the 8 dates that were cancelled due to Covid-19 earlier.
I really love if she did more of the Jazz & Piano show at least. The original Enigma concept should be revamped a bit.

Makes sense to do the jazz show for a lot of reasons
1) Its more covid safe (people will be sat, no dancers) 2) She's got a jazz album coming out / will be out when shes doing the show 3) Engima was horrible and i presume she wants it forgotten about

I haven't seen much negativity towards Enigma show on Twitter? Some stans will always hate whatever she does and releases that isn't #1 on charts (like Shallow before it became a smash).

Do you have eye problems? There are reviews for the Enigma show as well, as well as all her other shows. Also, in any Enigma videos on youtube there are lots of comments from people who attended the show and they all say they loved the show and its energy, so I don't know what you're implying since you didn't even attend the show.

First she is heading back to Vegas for new shows, then promoting her duets album with crooner Tony Bennett. After that she is poised for more Oscar glory as the lead in Ridley Scott's film House Of Gucci.
Lady Gaga returns to her Jazz & Piano residency in Las Vegas on October 14 - her first show dates in almost two years.
Gaga will play nine dates over two weeks this month, but her dancing and over the top pop shows are a world away from her homage to old school Las Vegas - once the home of croon kings Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin...and of course one of her best friends Tony Bennett.
In fact Bennett even introduces the Oscar winner to the stage with a short recorded message.
The 35-year-old opens up on how much of her “warm hug” set list has aided her to quash “the loneliness in my heart”
Fuelled by memories of sipping tea, while humming along with her mum to Billie Holiday, it started her journey to becoming one of the world’s biggest pop star entertainers.
With a determined glare, she cites Vegas as the pinnacle of proof that her self belief and maverick nature were right despite many naysayers.
And while she banks over £750k a night, before a cut of merchandise, these extravaganzas are a passion project “paying homage” to her favourite artists.
From the off she tips her hat the old guard of Sin City with a powerful rendition of Luck Be A Lady.
The tune, made famous by Sinatra in the movie Guys And Dolls, has become an unofficial anthem to Vegas gamblers for decades.
The Mama Monster often closes the number by mimicking some of the dance moves from the 1955 movie.
Gaga delivers impeccable covers of big band masterpieces Anything Goes, Call Me Irresponsible as well Edith Piaf’s La Vie En Rose, which movie audiences know from A Star Is Born.
She also sprinkles the set with jazz renditions of her most famous hits including Poker Face, Bad Romance and Born This Way. For many fans those moments demonstrate the “raw power, emotion and genius songwriting are laid bare.”
Another highlight is Gaga, in between sips of whisky, riling up crowds to all sing along to the swing hit Just A Gigolo.
Wile the New Yorker is famous for her many provocative costumes on her sold out pop world tours, Jazz and Piano offers a stylish nod to old Hollywood.
And the custom made designer gowns cost over $10m to assemble.
With an insurance premium for the clothing of a million dollars, bouncers guard her bespoke wardrobe which Is kept in a secured safe.
The “priceless” showstopper is her tailor-made hand embroidered dress, which has over 53,000 Swarovski crystals and 250 rock crystals in its design.
Each piece is a collaboration between the Haus Of Gaga and leading designers.
Certainly the brightest is the hit pink blooming Schiaparelli cloak, draped atop of a black velour dress.
Gaga made her look a family affair too with sister Natali, a New York fashion school graduate, creating her opening look. It's a twist on the famous Vegas little black party dress, with tassels and sequins, and paired with a headdress by Indonesian designer Rinaldy Yunardi.
Finall fans have revealed ai her revealed at her finale outfit, which is a Ralph Lauren tuxedo suit, composed of a flowing organza and tulle skirt, embroidered with 7,500 Swarovski crystals. The black and white ensemble was matched with a belt embellished with more than 2300 Swarovski crystals.
Gaga reveals that that her connection to jazz stems back to when she was in the womb and then throughout her childhood.
“My very earliest memories of hearing jazz music are from when I was a very little girl and my mother would make me a cup of tea, and she would put on Billie Holiday.
“And I could not believe this woman’s voice. Billie led me to Ella Fitzgerald, Ella to Eta James, Eta to Dinah Washington and then I must have just as well fell over over Dinah.
“Listening to these women I found a color in their voice that I never heard before. What’s so incredible about jazz is that the number of songwriters and musicians that have arisen out of jazz - there is too many for me to even say it.
“When I was listening to Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue my head exploded as a kid.
"That trumpet playing to emote about the heaviness in your heart through brass, that’s heavy man.”
She admits: "I found out very quickly in the music business that people like to tell you what to do.
"And what is so great is that when I get to sing jazz, I get to tell everybody what I want to do and tell everybody to kick rocks.”
Indeed her vision and steel is paying off both creatively and financially, taking home £750k for each show plus percentage in sales of goodies from jackets to
MGM also roll out the red carpet in full, providing private jet travel, access to the VIP Suites at all their properties from the Bellagio to Park and a complimentary beverage and food expense card. Gaga can eat or order from any of the group’s restaurants gratis.
One Vegas insider estimated the Gaga October package costs MGM Resorts £15m, but it worth double that for profile and earnings potential.
Brodie Cooper of US entertainment agency PRrrpd (CORR) said: “On the face of it Gaga's show may be expensive, but many executives would argue that it is worth every penny.
“Clients are not just coming to see her, but they often spending large sums on nicer hotel suites, meals out and then gambling or hitting the clubs. The spends are known to rise dramatically when Gaga and other A listers have show nights.
“The Park itself having Gaga there is achieving huge publicity and promotion, which equates to the million of dollars in brand awareness worldwide.”
Gaga delights in being able to deliver performances in her own style without being stuck to a rigid set list.
Gaga often tells the crowds: "With jazz it is all about having a conversation with every single person you are playing with and telling a different story every night. And that is what I love so much about.
"Jazz is very special.
"There is something about the loneliness in my heart that becomes filled with happiness when I sing jazz.
"It is like a warm hug. Sing it as it was written or sing it however I want.”
Gaga spent years formulating the show idea, and then several months working with close friend and bandleader Brian Newman to assemble a 30 strong orchestra for the music.
The pair are more than colleagues. The Muti talented composer, performer and trumpeter is godmother to his six-year-old daughter, Sistilia, with wife Angie Pontani, a celebrated New York burlesque dancer.
Newman is proud that the pair have combined to deliver: "old Vegas—like the days of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack, but also with the edge of the Lower East Side and the modernity that comes with an artist like her.
"It is the most wonderful show we could ever put on.
Newman grew close to Gaga when they hung out at dive bar music spot St Jeromes in the NYC's Lower East Side.
While Gaga was a pop megastar, she never lost her passion for jazz often seeing Newman's Quintet act shows around the US.
The star hired Newman for her touring pop band too, before calling him in for the Cheek To Cheek album.
"She has always been so wonderful and loyal, always on the money - but it not about money for any of us. It is about love and music."
Newman arranged and played Gaga's team on Love For Sale, which will be the final release for retired Bennett, who is battling Alzheimers Disease.
Gaga reflected on working on with “my musical companion” Bennett.
“He is an absolute legend. His legacy is unprecedented and that fact he shared his talents with me and let me be there while his light shined on me I will be forever grateful. He has supported me through the good times and bad. "
Gaga hopes the record will help “people take away the power of love through their relationship.
Gaga’s Vegas and music triumphs will then pave the way for a six month campaign for MGM’s House of Gucci.
Even though audiences have just seen the two minute trailer, industry sites and fans are predicting a huge awards season.
Comments under the trailer, include fans writing: “This has oscars written all over it,” while another added: “And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to Lady Gaga!!!” A third person added: “Lady Gaga’s performance looks like on another planet compared to the other actors.”Fans were immediately thrilled by the teaser for House Of Gucci and expressed their excitement on social media.
“Lady Gaga handles her character so f**king gooooood. Her second Oscar is coming,” one admirer predicted.
Another demanded: “Give Lady Gaga the Oscar right now.”
“This is literally the peak of the entire cinema history,” an excited Twitter user exclaimed.
Someone else insisted: “Oh she coming for Oscars best actress.”
“I definitely think Gaga will get a lot of critical acclaim and nominations for this role. I’m excited to watch her film career soar to higher lengths,” another added. Betting website Gold Derby say “41% of our readers now think Lady Gaga will win the Oscar for Best Actress” and over half reckon she will be nominated.
Gaga will be busy with promotional work starting in late autumn, before the event and interview awards season campaign runs until Oscar night on March 27 2022.
Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott‘s period film, an Italian socialite who goes to trial for ordering the murder of her husband, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), in the 1990s.
So the first concert is on Thursday, excited to see if they have changed it.

She has a contract with MGM and is doing three weeks again this spring like she did in October.
Of course I'd love her to do the Chromatica Ball (I have a ticket) but it's totally different thing to travel the world and arrange gigs on stadiums than to have an already established theater residency in one place. Nobody has been doing big tours since early 2020. Hope it'll change this year and hope she'll tour as well, whether it's CB or not.
Doja Cat just cancelled her BRITS performance because of covid - it's still very much a thing.

Also does ANYONE know what is happening with tours in the coming months atm or is it still very much up in the air? I am sure they would confirm or deny as soon as they know but in this period of uncertainty, why reveal things that could go on to then change a few weeks or months down the line. It's very very frustrating (I have 2 tickets just in limbo atm) but it's a very unique situation so i'm not mad about it necessarily!
These Vegas shows can go ahead, so she's announced these now the dates are confirmed. If these dates weren't set in stone, this wouldn't have been announced either.

She hinted about live performance outside the US in an interview earlier too. They just don't want to announce it, perhaps due to reasons Bal said above. But neither they don't want to cancel anything because it's still in the works.
Which one is better - to announce the tour and then cancel it, like The Weeknd did, or just wait until the tour can go ahead in some form? I don't know. Personally, I don't mind them "keeping my money in limbo" because I'm going to see her performing, whatever the concept is, and whenever.
She's going to miss this show when it's over soon!

Lady Gaga’s transcendent “Jazz + Piano” show is coming back next spring, we are reliably informed. We say “transcendent” as it covers classic jazz, pop and even rock (the big-band “Paparazzi” chart a leading example). Gaga is reportedly hard-focused on “J+P,” to the point that the return of her pop show — whether it’s “Enigma” or something akin to “Chromatica Ball” tour — is still not definite. Gaga has said from the stage she wants the show to run, open-ended, telling the Dolby Live crowd last month, “We’re gonna make a contract. Everybody on this stage will be here forever, we’ll do it. I’m not kidding. I make a lot of jokes on this stage. This is not one of them.”
A new pop show would be interesting... maybe at The Sphere? I'm fairly sure Enigma has been scrapped to infinity now.

Lady Gaga’s hugely successful Jazz & Piano residency is coming back to Vegas next spring, Las Vegas Review Journal reports.
It will reportedly be a brand new show with a new set list.
Gaga previously said that she wants to stay in Vegas “forever”: “We’re gonna make a contract, everybody on this stage will be here forever, I’m not kidding! I make a lot of jokes on this stage, it’s not one of them!”

Would be iconic if she did! She seemed to be strongly suggesting Vegas was not over by a long shot so it's highly possible.

The residency will return this summer:
"Lady Gaga’s “Jazz + Piano” show will be back in June and into July at Dolby Live at Park MGM, we confidently report. The plan is for at least eight shows in that series."
It probably wouldn't be until 2021 :/

I can't comment on the show itself because I haven't seen it though, but going off every live tour she's done before I am sure it is spectacular!
