Here to play, here to stay Pronouns: he/him Joined: 8 February 2015 Posts: 20,270 User: 21,587	Andrew's Review Now That's What I Call Music! 20 aka Now 20 was the first of it's kind to introduce us to the new logo which would continue to be used until the present day (2008). Now 20 starred 35 artists of which 4 were UK #1s. Like the previous year, this would only be the second yet final release of 1991, and so there was alot to narrow down. Some rather major #1s excluded on this occasion which included Chesney Hawkes – The One And Only and Cher – The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss), both of which stayed #1 for 5 weeks, but compare that to the huge loss of Bryan Adams – (Everything I Do) I Do It For You which was the biggest selling single of 1991, and Bryan's biggest to date, managing a whopping record of 16 weeks at #1! No sign of these songs on Now 20 though! Now 20 was a combination of almost every genre of music imaginable, that's really what made it such a good compilation, and the evidence suggests that is true when you consider such artists as U2, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, Salt-N-Pepa, Jason Donovan and Roxette to name but a few. Now 20 paved the way for artists like Prince & The New Power Generation, PM Dawn; Enya and James as well as debuts from 2 Unlimited and Moby. Sadly however, some artists only had this one occasion for their claim to fame, and they were Vic Reeves & The Wonder Stuff, Zoe, Color Me Badd, Kenny Thomas, Rozalla, Justified Ancients Of Mu-Mu, Jason Donovan, Marc Cohn, Glass Tiger, Scorpions, Monty Python and Don McLean. As already mentioned, the cover is rather outstanding, it may seem plain and basic by today's standards, but back then, this was the first every sighting of what would go on to become a recognised logo the world over. Finally, a cover fans could be proud of, and as time went on, the covers would get better and better, and very quickly, a proud gallery of fine artwork would assemble. I'm a big fan of much of the music on Now 20, and it really is a wonderful collection of music from the time. I'm very pleased that the logo was devised at a poinient time in the series (20th edition), and I'm even more pleased that eventually, the designers got it right and created something they, and all the fans, could be proud of in years to come. Artwork Rating: 8/10 Extremely Good An usually high rating for a rather basic cover. However, this represents the fact that they finally got the logo right from this point onwards. I like the logo very much and it's very distinguishing in the music industry. I'm pleased in over 20 years it's stayed the same. Disc 1 Favourite: P.M. Dawn – Set Adrift On Memory Bliss A very mellow track which was the duo's signature hit, and highest peaking hit. It heavily samples Spandau Ballet's 1983 hit True. Disc 2 Favourite: Jason Donovan – Any Dream Will Do A wonderful musical theme song. Incredible to think this song from Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was a UK #1 single. It's quite possibly my favourite song to be taken from a musical. Overall Rating: 6/10 Good Not bad for songs that were popular in early 1992. It's nice to hear the start to the techno music era with 2 Unlimited and Moby giving us a taste of things to come. I'm very dissapointed not to have the unforgettable 16 week #1 rock ballad from Bryan Adams included, that is the biggest gripe. Andrew's Best 5 (as of December 2016) 1. Disc 2: Jason Donavon - Any Dream Will Do - You know you dont regonise any thing on this disc when this is the only song you know and like Overall: 5/10 dont know a lot oops

I only recognize 9 of those songs but 'Set Adrift On Memory Bliss' and 'Too Many Walls' are two of my absolute favorite 90s songs! I was born in June 1991 so these are all from the first few months of my existence. I have a couple least faves too, 'I Wanna Sex You Up' and 'Rush Rush'. The latter was the #1 in America on the day I was born so I'm disappointed about that! That artwork is a 5/10, same score as Harry. Too much wasted space on the sides when they put the logo at that angle, thankfully the current album covers aren't that way.
