The lead single 'Beautiful Faces' from Declan McKenna's upcoming second album is out tomorrow! When 'British Bombs' was released - he did say that was a non-album single.
Yes please! Looking forward to hearing this.
Can't wait to hear this!
Out now! Very different for him, I love it - especially the guitars at the end
The album is titled 'Zeros' and is out on May 15th!
Beautiful Faces good on first listen!!!! Artwork is horrible lol xx
Album artwork much nicer though *.*
This is all kinds of brilliant! Hyped for the album based on this
Sad that 'British Bombs' was just a one-off as that's easily my favourite song from him. I am liking this one as well though, a bit of a grower. x
Postponed to 21st August
Ah that's a shame Everytime I see an album thread get a new post I assume it's a delay now.
June-August is going to be filled for me though!
I'm kinda afraid what album sales will be like now from Easter to August!
Well true but but can see no1 sales being 3-10k only and that's before you talk about sales lower down the chart.
Brilliant performance on Sunday Brunch today!
'The Key to Life on Earth' is releasing on Tuesday at 19:30!
The tracklisting for the album has also been revealed:
1. You Better Believe!!!
2. Be an Astronaut
3. The Key to Life on Earth
4. Beautiful Faces
5. Daniel, You're Still a Child
6. Emily
7. Twice Your Size
8. Rapture
9. Sagittarius
10. Eventually Darling
A fantastic remix of 'Beautiful Faces' from Skream also came out on Friday:
I didn't really like Beautiful Faces but loved his debut album and British Bombs so I'll be excited for this when it's released!
What a tune!
Love it (and Alex Lawther in the vid too!)
preferring this new single to "Beautiful Faces", this has really heightened my excitement for the album
Yeah, prefer this much more than Beautiful Faces.
Out of curiosity why wasn't British Bombs on the album, does anybody know?
This is sounding pretty nice! Not as good as Beautiful Faces on first listen but that was definitely a grower so this could very well be as well.
Oh thank you!
My first play when The Key to Life On Earth came out left me underwhelmed. I revisited it the other day and I'm not sure what I was on, I think I might prefer it to Beautiful Faces...! Hype restored for this album
I think it's a great track, love the video too, can tell the pair just want to burst out in laughter at each other.
The video for 'The Key To Life On Earth' is great! Song is decent but was another step down from 'Beautiful Faces' with both still being far below 'British Bombs' for me.
I think it's great nice pop song and pretty instant for me, my current no1 on my personal chart following a number one for 'Beautiful Faces'!
'Daniel, You're Still A Child' is out tomorrow at 19:30!
Out now! Very groovy, really like it on first listen
This must be the lead for the album, hope it's up to the standard of the first two releases. On first listen it's different but hard to say.
Album has been pushed back a couple of weeks to September 4th, 'Be An Astronaut' is out now - quite blown away by this on first listen!
Another more experimental one I see - I think this will grow on me more than Daniel did but not sure if I'll like it as much as the first two.
Also an EP called 'Be An Astronaut' has popped up on Spotify with these 4 songs on it now...
Shows how much attention I pay to non-singles on Spotify!
(that is also shown by the fact I'm relying on this album being good as I have no other contenders for my Album of the Year )
I also noticed it's quite obvious it's just being pushed back so it can go #1
Pretty annoyed myself it's been pushed back, was getting quite excited for its release!
'Be An Astronaut' sounds very Bowie-esque - definitely a better first impression than I had for the last two singles and can see this one being a grower as well, possibly the best of the four singles so far. British Bombs still > all of them tho
I'm really getting into Be An Astronaut right now Perhaps on track to be my second favourite of the singles, behind The Key to Life on Earth!
The album is good, I'm liking it a lot though not as much as the debut. Twice Your Size and Rapture both commit the annoying sin of getting borderline unlistenable to the end of the songs after being very good throughout but that's my only real criticism. Sagittarius A* and Eventually, Darling are my favourites of the new songs.
I loved this also! Though I think it's leagues above his debut which I've never been *massively* into.
My favourites are The Key to Life on Earth, Rapture (sorry Joseph, the ending is banging ), Twice Your Size and Be An Astronaut. Very impressed overall!
Gave this a listen today and I really enjoyed it! Declan definitely is way more interesting and thoughtful then you'd expect on face value on both his albums so far. Rapture in particular is a new favourite of mine, I think it's quite a common chord structure but I keep hearing RuPaul's Superstar in the chorus of Rapture which I didn't expect to get
I do want to listen to this more as The Key To Life On Earth and Daniel, You're Still A Child have been highlights of 2020 so far.
Yeh I’ve listened twice this week so far and it’s a lovely listen. ‘Rapture’ is dancey fun and ‘Be An Astronaut’ is wonderful McKenna doing Bowie and it’s not just because the songs about space! Even ‘Daniel’ is growing on me all of a sudden this week.
Full of tunes as I'd expect! He does like to go on random over-the-top instrumental sections towards the end of his songs though doesn't he
I liked this on first listen! I would agree with the Bowie influence and throw some Beatles and Britpop in there too - "Key To Life On Earth" is an absolutely STUNNING song and I don't know how I didn't come across it before. Worth it for that alone!
Love most of this album but Beautiful Faces and Emily have to be the two worst tracks.
I didn't pay much attention to Declan before, I too kinda wrote him off a bit on face value but this album is great, particularly The Key To Life On Earth - the last part especially
Massive improvement on the debut album (despite “Brazil” and “Isombard” both being some of the best songs in recent times in my opinion), have had it on repeat the past few weeks! “Rapture” would make a great next single.
ISOMBARD!!
What a song, honestly feel kinda sad I didn't check him out before.
Rapture video, great choice for next single!
Added it to my playlist a few weeks ago as Annie was playing it so great to see, hope the daytime playlist add it if they haven’t already.
I sort-of thought Rapture already was the next single with the lyric video he'd done for it oops! The music video is... interesting let's say.
Georgia remix of Rapture out this week!
