so much yes at Video Girl being the next single for FKA Twigs, such a good choice. Lights On would've been nice too.
Yay at Cheryl too, hoping this can be a big #1 for her.
Yet to here the new Kasabian single but the previous two have been very good so I have high hopes for this.
Good to see Jack U being promoted to C-List too, hope Tinashe can do the same thing with Pretend.

Great to see Kendrick added!!

Posted by: { bré } 8th October 2014, 05:37 PM

Yas Kendrick slay us yas

'Video Girl' is brilliant, I'd love if there was a tiny chance of it being a 'hit' now she has the whole Mercury Prize hype.

Posted by: gavindeejay 8th October 2014, 05:53 PM

I hope they add Second City next week. 'What Can I Do' is far better than 'I Wanna Feel'.

Happy to see Knife Party added along with Kasabian. I'm interested in hearing that Pharell track as it's produced by Daft Punk.

FKA Twigs, Henry Krinkle, Kasabian, Kendrick Lamar and Darlia for me this week..Yet to hear some of the other new entries wub.gif

Massive Yay at Ben Howard and also Watermat being put on the A-list and Circa Waves, Hudson Taylor, London GrammarParra for Cuva Ft Anna Naklab and Rae Morris being put on the B-list wub.gif

Posted by: Liаm 8th October 2014, 06:03 PM

Video Girl wub.gif such a lush track. Yay for Cheryl too.

Posted by: { bré } 8th October 2014, 06:08 PM

Oh I somehow didn't even see Henry Krinkle on there! wub.gif Needs to be a top 40 hit at the very least. Preferably top 10 if that's possible.

Posted by: ►▲N 8th October 2014, 06:15 PM

great to see Henry Krinkle's Slay added heart.gif would love to hear it in the top 40 although it could go the same way as poor Ferreck Dawn & Redondo

Posted by: Iz~ 8th October 2014, 06:23 PM

Stevie really should have been the second single, it's very brilliant and anthemic. I'm not holding my breath for it to do anything though, Radio 1 hammered 'bumblebeee' and that ended up doing nothing singles-wise. Were it released as a third single in a different era...

Will have to check out that Slipknot one too.

News so good it warrants nine yahoos...

Derry singer/songwriter SOAK has made the playlist!

Amazing for FKA Twigs <3 Also brilliant to see 'Gust Of Wind' IS being given some sort of push for Pharrell! A superior version of 'Get Lucky' imo. Should have been released over the bland 'Marilyn Monroe'!

'Marilyn Monroe' is the shining highlight of this campaign. sad.gif

I'd say it should've been third over 'Come Get It Bae' though.

I'm quite intrigued that Radio 1 have got behind Bullit so quickly and in such a big way. They usually wait until a European dance song has proven itself right across the continent first but I think this has only smashed in Belgium so far?

It does help that it was a huge club hit I guess, and also because it's deep house which is popular; the situation is a bit like Ten Walls which has only charted in the UK and Belgium (#13 peak) and it would've started getting R1 airplay before charting there.

Yeah the Kasabian single is brilliant, I'm confident it will do better than 'bumblebee'. Anyway if nothing else it should help shift a few more copies of the album which I guess is the point of the single.

I'm confused at 'Gust Of Wind' being added, I thought 'It Girl' was the next single - he's even made a video for it? wacko.gif

Oh and nice to see 'Drunk And Incapable' moving up to the A-list, I literally cannot get that song out of my head at the moment biggrin.gif

I may be wrong but I could have swore SOAK had been on the INMWT list before....? Maybe not though!

Kendrick ohmy.gif

Did they support him last era? I think i remember seeing 'Backseat Freestyle' on the playlist, not sure about any others... Not my favourite from him by a long shot but hopefully it means they support him throughout the rest of the era too. Hoping for big things!

Yay for 'Stay' and 'Video Girl' wub.gif

They won't remove 8 songs from the A-list in a single week... maybe 4 or 5.

Posted by: steve201 9th October 2014, 09:21 AM

I wonder what they will do with Shake if Off as its been on the list quite a while and the albums not out until 27/10. Maybe theyll remove it and move onto single 2 quickly in November?

Im also surprised she isnt releasing more instant grats or maybe theyll all come in the week before release!

Posted by: Joe. 9th October 2014, 09:24 AM

Yeah, I can see Shake it Off sticking around a bit longer, because it'll likely re-peak this week as it's being performed on two highly rated TV shows on the weekend.

Posted by: Rob S 9th October 2014, 09:59 AM

Fearne just played Cool Kids by Echosmith w00t.gif hopefully a future add to the playlist down the line biggrin.gif

Posted by: iain 9th October 2014, 03:15 PM

Surprised they haven't playlisted the new Ed Sheeran given that it is already top 10 on iTunes.

We don't even know what its impact date is yet...

Posted by: steve201 9th October 2014, 04:40 PM

I would imagine it will appear as a mid November releases (prob the week before hes on XF). Then radio 1 will add it that week. Whatever happens it will be played alot between now and the new year pushing X over the million mark!

How many plays do the songs on the A, B & C list generally have weekly?

A = 25
B = 13
C = 8
INMWT = 5

Although I'd be interested to know how strictly they adhere to that.

I watch quite carefully usually and B list songs usually get two plays a day sometimes 3 and sometimes 1. It works out about right. A list songs usually get played on every daytime show but one.

Yeah, that does sound about right then. I do find it weird though that in a way the DJs (the daytime ones at least) are pretty much told what to play!

Posted by: steve201 10th October 2014, 03:40 PM

Yeah those figures are about right but it does vary according to what singles are released that week. So if an Alist song is released that week it can get as many as 28 spins, if a song on the B list is released that week it can get as many as a popular A list track and so on. Also another factor is TOTD status - which can mean a song on the C list which is also TOTD can get as many as 8-10 spins for the week.

Hope this helps!
