Royal Blood are miles ahead though. And why is The Queen Is Dead doing well in the singles chart?

Big old number 1 album coming for Royal Blood, ahead of Nickelback (!) and Lorde.

A very competitive week in the Album chart this week, clearly Royal Blood will triumph but curious to see which of Lorde, Nickelback and Fleet Foxes will push Ed down the chart (before he returns to top next week).
Rag 'N' Bone Man's 18 week run in the Top 5 may be over as well and sadly Katy Perry will struggle to stay in Top 10.

Pure Heroine opened with 18k at number 4 in 2013, a similar amount this time will not be enough to overcome Ed so unlikely to stay Top 3 unfortunately (unless can overtake Nickelback with better streaming).

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths (the single) has been re-released on vinyl, so that probably explains it. Morrissey/The Smiths vinyl singles always seem to sell rather well. It'll most likely than not be outside the top 100 come Friday though. Would LOVE it if it ended up played on the Midweek Chart though...

would be cool to see Fleet Foxes come back with a top 10 album ~

and Lorde for Top 5 as well, idk if Melodrama's opening sales would match Pure Heroine's but it should do enough

Well they only play the Top 3 in the midweek chart show now so that's incredibly unlikely.

I think she'll overtake because her streaming is great.

Interesting one, technically 'The Queen Is Dead' was never a Single, shows the quality of the Album tracks though, from one of the greatest Albums of All Time!

Chances of Liam being #2 this week are pretty high, right?

It'd be pretty disappointing if Lorde doesn't even beat the first week sales of 'Pure Heroine' tbh, since that's another case of a debut album selling well over a long period of time, I didn't expect her to get #1 against Royal Blood but she should be managing a better opening sale like London Grammar last week. Her being behind Nickelback at this stage isn't a great sign tho. :/

Obviously most (if not all) streaming will be missing today, so I imagine Lorde is actually ahead of Nickelback overall. However, I can't say I'm not shocked that she isn't number 1 in these early mids. I honestly thought it'd be an easy number 1 for her... :\ But I guess it all depends on how far ahead Royal Blood really are and whether they can maintain that gap or whether they're one of those acts who will sell the most over the weekend, but die off completely during the week.

I initially expected 25-30K tbh. Looks like 15k now.
