29th July 2018
It's a 4th week on top for Hey Look Ma, matching High Hopes' run on top, and giving Panic! At The Disco 8 of the last 9 weeks at 1. Sheryl Crow gets her 2nd biggest track of her career, and Petula Clark gets into the top 10 for the first time since Cut Copy topped my chart. Au/Ra and Camelphat take 9 weeks to make my top 20 - about the same as it has in the UK charts to go top 40, ditto High Hopes which has just entered. Things are looking up! Abba tracks have started selling on itunes again - but not the usual suspects! Thanks to Mamma Mia 2 some album tracks are charting on sales, which has given me a chance to chart them belatedly (I excluded album tracks back in the day to avoid an Abba takeover, as the idea of one act completely taking over a chart just struck me as ridiculous - even my own. If only I'd restricted it to 3.....). That means 1980's Andante Andante is highest new entry at 23. 1976's My Love My Life is a bit lower, and Angel Eyes returns in it's own right for the first time ever - Voulez Vous was always the classic side. Biggest climber is Hayden James, at 40, Gabrielle gets a 2nd chart entry of the year, and Chainsmokers join themselves in the chart with oldie Paris still up high, and newie Side Effects down the lower end. 1 1 1 6 HEY LOOK MA, I MADE IT Panic! Hello John!
The ABBA debuts are great, it's ABBA, how can you go wrong? The Chainsmokers debut is also nice too! And finally I'm really happy seeing "Me, Myself & I" in the top 3! Great chart as always! |

"Angeleyes" is the one from my favourites, especially from UK singles*. This Petula Clark track was # 1 in my chart and very possible that from solo female singers only Madonna and Shania Twain had more # 1s. Thanks for the list and comments, and yes my top 2 faves in BJSC were the same as yours - snap! I love Panic! At The Disco, energetic, passionate and trying new things musically and lyrically, so good! Muse's best single in yonks, so I very much agree - they'd got into a bit of a samey rut and needed a bit of oomph to vary the sound a bit. Oh now I'm jealous - Imagine Dragons, bet they were fab in concert! They have a full-bodied sound, so I'm guessing pretty lively! All The Stars is one of those rare tracks that six months later I still haven't got bored with, still gives me goose-bumps. Love it! cheers! John |

Hello, John. So based on this factor, probably some my favourite ABBA tracks weren't represented in any your charts. From my ABBA songs ranking # 32. Andante, Andante # 36. My Love, My Life More information here : http://fatherandy2.proboards.com/thread/90...-all-abba-songs "Voulez Vous" was finished only at # 76 from 100 songs. "Angeleyes" is the one from my favourites, especially from UK singles*. This Petula Clark track was # 1 in my chart and very possible that from solo female singers only Madonna and Shania Twain had more # 1s. Hi Alex, thanks for dropping in! Abba never far away from my charts, making up for the cruel decision to exclude half of their greatest work from my charts back in the day! What was I thinking! I would have been very shocked if Angel Eyes was far away from your top 5 Abba tracks (It's my best guess to be your number one. Or maybe not ) Petula is fab, Don't Give Up is one of my faves of hers, currently 3 in my retro 1968 charts on Haven, but if it was reissued it would prob be topping my actual charts.... will check out your listing of Abba so far... cheers John |
