Prepare yourselves for an Ed Sheeran takeover! 'Shape of You' is set to stay at #1 for a ninth week whilst Ed's name could occupy the 'x amount' of following positions. For those who have no interest in his music, we have Lorde's comeback 'Green Light' set to make a Top 40 debut, with other new releases including a new version of Little Mix's 'No More Sad Songs' (now featuring Machine Gun Kelly for the single release) and Coldplay's "fan treat" 'Hypnotised'. As if there was any doubt, Ed Sheeran will take the #1 spot - the question is whether he'll sell enough to top Adele's (or Oasis', depending on how you see it) record for highest first week album sales. Other debuts should come from Alison Krauss' Windy City, Collabro's Home, Daniel O'Donnell's Back Home Again, Grandaddy's Last Place, Sleaford Mods' English Tapas. Breakdown of the week - Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted. - Monday: OCC Top 100 + Radio 1 Chart Update 5:30pm to 5:45pm. - Tuesday: Top 40 update as and when we receive them with requests, this is NOT 100% guaranteed however. The OCC may publish sales flashes of their own accord but likewise, this is not guaranteed. Twitter and social media is your friend for today. Please post any information you find with a source. Do not nag for updates, we will post a top 40 update if we receive one. - Wednesday: Top 40 update from Music Week from 5:45, and potential top 5 sales but this is not guaranteed. - Thursday: See Tuesday. Other notes (please read) - You may make requests Tuesday to Thursday but outside the top 40, specific positions will not be revealed (unless deemed necessary by a mod). - Please do not demand a midweek update, one will be posted as and when we receive the information. Patience is a virtue. - Sales information will be given out as deemed necessary by a moderator, please bear this in mind when making requests. Most requests for sales will be ignored. - To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action, please refer to the iTunes and Spotify threads. |

Ed Sheeran's ÷ takes early Official Albums Chart lead with 232,000 copies sold in just one day
04 March 2017 | By Jack White Quite a few of you are Ed Sheeran fans... Ed Sheeran is set to storm the Official Albums Chart after getting off to an incredible start in this week’s race. His brand new album, ÷ (pronounced Divide), was released yesterday (March 3) and after just 24 hours on sale has racked up a staggering 232,000 physical and digital copies, according to preliminary Official Charts data. In fact, in one day ÷ has already sold more than Ed’s previous album x (Multiply) sold in its first week. Ben Cook, President, Atlantic Records UK, commented to OfficialCharts.com: "Ed is an artist that inspires a generation, and the release of Divide is a global event. It's great to see so many people across the world respond to this brilliant new work in such an unprecedented manner. "As the way we release music changes, Ed continues to shape culture and how it evolves. It’s early days, but we’re really excited to see what we can achieve alongside Ed and his management on what is an outstanding landmark record." The early sales total, which was achieved without the inclusion of streaming data which will catch up over the coming days, and puts Sheeran on course to follow his close mate Stormzy to the Number 1 spot; the London grime star topped the Official Albums Chart with his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer yesterday, following a breath-taking race with Rag‘n’Bone Man. ÷ is on track to achieve one of the biggest first week totals of recent years. The biggest total of any album in 2016 was David Bowie’s Blackstar, which sold 143,455 in one week last January. The full midweek Official Singles and Albums Chart round-up will paint an even clearer picture on Monday afternoon - hear the latest on the Official Chart Update with Greg James on BBC Radio 1 from 5.30pm, with the full midweek Top 100 made available on OfficialCharts.com. |

From Mint Royale's Twitter:
QUOTE He has 16 singles in the top 28.
He also makes up half of the top 20 singles chart. And guess what is the highest charting album track? That's right, bloody Galway Girl. |

That's more than what a regular NOW album would sell in a whole week. Second only to Adele who sold 313k in a day but bare in mind that her album was released near Christmas whereas this album wasn't

I feel like with streams added he could possibly beat '25'. I so hope he doesn't as the album is complete trash.

anyone good at estimating how many album stream points did he got from the Spotify data available for yesterday (all tracks in the top 16)? Using the same rough method I used for Stormzy last week I get 63.7K SES. Only the 3rd-12th most streamed tracks count (which you divide by 10 and then multiply by 12 to account for the 'neutralised' 1st and 2nd most streamed tracks) then whatever total you get multiply by 7 and then divide by 1000. So I guess Ed is looking at a 600K plus opening week, I don't think he will beat 800K that 25 did, I could be wrong but I think be around 650K maybe a little more but be good see how sales carry on through the week.

From what I can tell, these are the albums to have first day sales of over 200k:
356,000 | Oasis - Be Here Now (1997) 313,000 | Adele - 25 (2015) 235,000 | Take That - Progress (2010) 232,000 | Ed Sheeran - Divide (2017) When Adele's 25 was released, the OCC said Be Here Now and Progress had first day sales of 424,000 and 217,500 respectively, which differs to figures previously reported. The list above shows the first day sales reported at the time. |

These are not full Ed Sheeran first day sales though, they are even bigger with SAS added.
