Blackpool have announced Simon Sadler as the new owner of the League One club following English Football League approval.

Receivers have run the club since February after ex-owner Owen Oyston's 31-year reign ended in the High Court.

Sadler, who was born and raised in Blackpool, has worked in asset management in Hong Kong since 2007.

In addition to purchasing 96.2% of the club, Sadler takes control of the Seasiders' stadium and adjoining hotel.

Doncaster Rovers have appointed former West Brom boss Darren Moore as the new manager of the League One club.

Moore has been out of work since being sacked by the Baggies in March, when they were fourth in the Championship.

The former Doncaster centre-back replaces Grant McCann, who left Rovers for Hull City in May after a year in charge at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The December takeover of Bury, who are in extreme financial distress under the owner Steve Dale, was completed without being approved by the EFL under its regulations, the league has said.

Dale took the club over for £1 from Stewart Day, who had taken out loans secured on its Gigg Lane ground and run the club at a loss, and whose property development companies were about to collapse into administration.

Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has been charged with causing actual bodily harm following a post-match incident in the tunnel at Barnsley on 13 April.

Police say the incident, after the Tykes beat Fleetwood 4-2 in a League One game at Oakwell, left a man with facial injuries.

Barton has previously "emphatically denied" accusations he confronted Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel.

The 36-year-old has been bailed until 9 October.

Bolton Wanderers' takeover by Football Ventures (Whites) Limited is set to be completed by the end of the week.

The company, registered in January with the purpose of buying the club, was named preferred bidder at the start of July and BBC Radio Manchester reports the deal is close to being finalised.

Bolton have been in administration since 13 May and will start the League One season with a 12-point deduction.

Meanwhile, the club have had Saturday's pre-season game at Oldham cancelled.

It is Wanderers' third friendly to be cancelled after the Latics chose to find another opponent "due to the doubt of the original fixture going ahead".

Bury's opening League One game, at home to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday, has been suspended - but Bolton Wanderers' match at Wycombe can go ahead.

The Shakers failed to meet Monday's 17:00 BST deadline set by the English Football League for Bury and Bolton to show evidence of financial viability.

However, the EFL said it had suspended the Bury game "reluctantly".

Bolton's submissions satisfied the EFL that they can meet the requirements of the league, with a takeover expected.

Both teams have already been deducted 12 points from the new League One table and both were given extended deadlines by the EFL to prove that they had made sufficient progress behind the scenes.

Bury's second match of the season, at Accrington on 10 August, is also under threat, while it is understood the Gigg Lane outfit will now be referred to an independent disciplinary panel.

Bury's second game of the season has been suspended as well.

Some interesting opening day results in the games that did take place though, Sunderland were held to a draw by Oxford United and Portsmouth were beaten by Shrewsbury.

Bury have been given 14 days to avoid being expelled from the EFL after having their Carabao Cup tie with Sheffield Wednesday suspended.

The EFL previously called off Bury's games against MK Dons and Accrington.

The League One club had been given a deadline of Wednesday to show the EFL a plan to pay off outstanding creditors.

The sale of financially troubled Bolton Wanderers appears ready to go through after the court order blocking a takeover was adjourned.

The order issued by Laurence Bassini was also amended, with the injunction now between him and a company owned by ex-Bolton chairman Ken Anderson.

The case relates to a failed bid by Bassini to buy the club from Anderson.

Having proceedings adjourned until 2 September paves the way for Football Ventures to complete a deal.

The issue of the court order of 8 August suspended the already protracted takeover of the League One club, with Bolton's joint administrator Paul Appleton saying the sale had been "on the brink on completion" at the time.
