The creator of We Can Be Heroes, Summer Heights High, Angry Boys, Ja'mie: Private School Girl & Jonah From Tonga, Chris Lilley, is finally back with a new show! This time on Netflix!

Summer Heights High is one of the best TV shows of all time. So, SO funny and as far as sketch shows go, he is a genius. So I'm naturally looking forward to this. wub.gif

Buzzing for this!

Oh I saw the trailer for this recently, it looks hilarious! Summer Heights High remains his magnus opus, I really didn't like the Ja'mie spinoff (and didn't bother with Jonah's) so I'm glad he's going for all-new characters this time!

Do we have a release date yet?

It's out today!

That's my weekend sorted lol

It really isn't funny at all from the first episode sad.gif It feels very dated in its humour. They should have just done another Ja'mie spin off.

Nooo. We need a Mr G spin off!!

It's not getting the best reviews sad.gif

Because it’s not funny at all, I was looking for the laughs and it just wasn’t happening. Shame really

I haven't checked it out yet, but Jonah From Tonga got really negative reviews as well and I loved that - so I'm still optimistic.

Yeah this really just isn't that funny at all sad.gif There's bits that are kinda funny and the characters in theory are good, but they're written in such a boring way. It's better than Jonah From Tonga at least, but then leaving Netflix on the profile selection page would be better than that. I don't know if I can really be bothered watching any more.

i echo pretty much everything above. i didn't really like jonah, angry boys or private school girl but we can be heroes and summer heights high were perfection. was kinda hoping this was gonna be along the same lines cos of it being an ensemble but there's not one character i really like. joyce has the most potential tho.

Looks like I'll give this a miss then sad.gif

Loved the first episode! I just find Lilley an inherently funny guy, some of the new characters are genius.

In better news, Summer Heights High is back on iPlayer

did anyone end up watching the whole lot? does it get any better..?

I tried watching more, I think I got to ep 6/7 even out of absolute boredom and no it doesn't. The only remotely funny character is Joyce.

"Has Chris Lilley’s Lunatics tarnished his comic legacy?"

"Chris Lilley's new Netflix show an excruciating exercise"

"Netflix's New Comedy 'Lunatics' Is Dizzying, Tone-Deaf"

"Lunatics is nasty and grotesque. Chris Lilley's career is shot"

"Lunatics review – thankfully no blackface, but still painfully unfunny"

I've got to episode 4 and am really getting nowhere with it, in fact I'm finding myself skipping Gavin (like... is he not just white Jonah) and that CEO guy with a big ass. Joyce and the tall girl have potential, but the latter just makes me pine for Ja'mie tbh.

I'd say "grotesquec" and "tone deaf" are going a tad far, it's just not that funny. It's odd, as I said it's got characters who could be funny quite easily but there's just nothing put into them to make them funny.
