Welcome to the latest of our listening marathons, covering every UK Number 3 hit single ever from November 1952 to the present day! Julian and I will once again be your hosts for this series, and the sessions will run from 16:00 to 19:00 UK time on Sundays (19:30 including bonus tracks). We'll be playing every song which peaked at #3 in the UK charts in chronological order over sessions of approx. 3 hours, then in the next session we'll pick up where we left off. We will be using Synctube for the sessions. Anyone is welcome to join, why not give it a go? Feel free to join for as much or as little of the session as you like, and join in the live chat if you wish. Unless otherwise stated at the end of the thread, the Synctube link will be: https://sync-tube.de/room/e-t8AXpb The first session will take place this Sunday (28 January) and will cover 1952 up to the end of 1958, with the first 51 #3s (including three double A-sides). To avoid much overlap with BJSC results, we'll finish playing the #3s at the earlier than usual time of 18:35, and aim to complete the bonuses close to 19:00. We will end each session with a number of bonus tracks in the following categories: Top 10 hits - each week we will play half a dozen or so songs from the period in question that peaked at #6, #7, #8, #9 or #10. You will have a chance to nominate tracks to play in the weekend leading up to each session. New #1 & #2 singles and #1 albums as we have already done listening marathons for each of #1 singles, #2 singles and #1 albums, we will keep these topped up as and when there are new songs that fall into these categories! RIPs whenever someone notable from the music world passes away during the week, feel free to nominate a track of theirs or relating to them to play (does not have to be a chart hit). Birthday slot if you have a birthday on the day of a session or during the week before or after, you can pm Julian or me with a random track of your choice. Obviously we probably wont know its your birthday unless you tell us! Jamelia slot this is when somebody thinks of a random track people want to hear for no particular reason. Well try and limit these this series to finish as close to 19:30 as possible though. Hope you enjoy the series! |

Queen Winifred was the obvious standout of today for me! Otherwise not a lot I'm likely to remember oops (shoutout to the scooby-dooing on the Teresa Brewer song though, I liked 'The Kid's Last Fight' and a couple of the later songs too, and I suppose there were a couple like Jimmy Boyd and The Goons that are also memorable but not sure they're in a good way ) A few of the crooner-type songs were nice too if not the most distinct, mainly the Nat King Cole ones.
Don't forget there was also an unintentional Paul Anka Jamelia slot |

Im pleased to say that overall the track list for tomorrow is looking much better than last week. Here is the list of #6 to #10s. I may potentially be a bit less democratic about it to give us some new discoveries - for example I might play something with 1 or 2 votes that many of us wont know over something with 3 votes that we all know, but well see how it goes. x

The Beach Boys I Get Around
Helmut Zacharias Tokyo Melody Ray Charles - Hit The Road Jack The Singing Nun Dominique The Ventures Walk, Don't Run also really wanted to vote for 'Sukiyaki' - couldn't decide between that or The Ventures for my final spot so just went for the latter as I think 'Sukiyaki' has been played before edit: palindromic post count at the time of this post woo [59,295] |
