BuzzJack Music Forum _ Reality TV _ The X Factor: Celebrity

Posted by: ThePensmith Feb 13 2019, 07:56 PM

Just rumours at the moment, but it appears that, going on reports of the Daily Star and also several other outlets tonight that after 15 years on air, it's being axed/rested/however else they're dubbing it until 2020 to do a celebrity series this year: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/tv/x-factor/759568/x-factor-itv-simon-cowell-robbie-williams-reality-show-saturday-nights

I mean admittedly if it is true then it's no surprise given it was obvious about three years ago that it had run out of steam. But I'm intrigued to hear how they think a celebrity version will work in 2019 when the 2006 one was hardly a roaring success?

Posted by: La Vie En Code Feb 13 2019, 07:59 PM

a celebrity version? why not just do a British version of The Masked Singer lol

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Feb 13 2019, 08:04 PM

I love how a rumor started on TV Forum has made it to the national papers laugh.gif

Posted by: Mart!n Feb 13 2019, 08:18 PM

If I remember rightly they advertised for auditions for this year at the end of last season to get their applications in. unsure.gif

Posted by: BotchLikeThis Feb 13 2019, 08:30 PM

A celebrity version is a terrible idea. It was dreadful the first time round and will be again.

A send off series in the style of AGT: The Champions could work and would at least give it one last celebratory hurrah before it rests in peace.

Posted by: Handmade Heaven Feb 13 2019, 10:36 PM

This celebrity/all-star mix is a gigantic mess.

The show needs to be rested a la Dancing on Ice to make people hungry for it again - this celebrity version would damage the brand even further than it already is

Posted by: Chez Wombat Feb 13 2019, 10:45 PM

Is there any point resting it for a single year? :') If this is true, I appreciate them finally realising it needs to go, but it needs to be a longer rest than that. I mean Jesus, surely ITV aren't that creatively bereft to think of SOMETHING.

And that replacement sounds dire lmaooo

(actually that article is super misleading, it's not actually gone at all, it's just a celebrity one this year and then back to normal?)

Posted by: Conderella Feb 14 2019, 11:07 AM

a cheap tabloid article being misleading, that's quite a shocker kink.gif

Robbie & Ayda have quit due to being too busy - it seems like Robbie will have a new album out at the end of the year.

Posted by: Wall Apr 12 2019, 10:03 AM

Thank god

Posted by: Liаm Apr 12 2019, 11:21 AM

Yaaass, a step in the right direction as Ayda was absolutely terrible last year. If only they can also get Louis out and rebuild a decent panel.

Posted by: Cameron Apr 12 2019, 12:38 PM

If it's a celebrity series surely they should have a panel of XF winners

Posted by: Cqmerqn Apr 12 2019, 02:56 PM

I can’t see Louis coming back after the death of his sister tbh. I reckon he’ll want to stay out of the limelight tbh.

Posted by: Mack. Apr 12 2019, 03:27 PM

Let me guess they will be a TOWIE person taking part in the celebrity version??

Posted by: King Rollo Apr 12 2019, 03:46 PM

Louis Walsh has been a judge on Ireland's Got Talent for the last two years. The final of the second series took place last weekend. He's having a great time doing it so I don't think he'll want to return to the X Factor.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Apr 13 2019, 11:01 AM

Dan Wotton has said The X Factor will likely to go back to 3 judges with different panels for the celebrity and all star versions. It's also likely that Louis Walsh and a former female (Cheryl, Nicole, Danni or Sharon) will be asked back.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Apr 13 2019, 08:10 PM

I'd love to see dannii back and I'm happy robbie andcesoe finally ayda are not back.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jun 1 2019, 09:15 AM

The Sun are reporting that Louis Walsh and Nicole Sherzinger will join Simon as the judges. There apparently won't be a fourth judge.

Also, they're reporting the names in talks to compete on the Celebrity version are Gemma Collins, Amanda Holden, Caroline Flack, Megan McKenna and John Barrowman.

Posted by: Mart!n Jun 1 2019, 02:00 PM

This is going to be car crash entertainment, I prefer the original concept, knowing my luck I probably still watch it, to laugh at.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 5 2019, 09:33 PM

Lucy Fallon is in talks for this apparently, her voice is insane so I'd love to see.her do it!!

Posted by: Mack. Jun 11 2019, 03:11 PM

How is the Celebrity series going to work exactly?

Posted by: *Tim Jun 11 2019, 03:22 PM

Megan Mckenna woud be amazing on it tbh, she has a great voice.

No way in hell would Alexandra do it though. She has hopefuly learned her lesson with that dance show. The public will never like her as a confident woman so she'll most ikely be out in like the 3rd show at best

Posted by: Mack. Jun 11 2019, 03:25 PM

Who would your all star line-up if you had the choice of who you choose to go on the show?

Posted by: Liаm Jun 16 2019, 02:21 PM

Apparently Samira, Wes, Eyal and Zara from Love Island are gonna be on the Celeb one as a "supergroup" laugh.gif

Posted by: Wall Jun 16 2019, 02:40 PM

Zara and Samira can actual sing

Posted by: Liаm Jun 23 2019, 11:41 PM

Jenny from The Case and Victoria Ekanoye (Angie from Corrie) are also names being thrown about, the latter is random and kinda scraping the barrel but hype for Jenny *.*

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Jun 24 2019, 12:15 AM

Yeah they've definitely mentioned before that Jennie can sing, should be good.

Posted by: Liаm Jun 24 2019, 12:38 AM

She definitely can going by Let's Sing And Dance For Comic Relief when she did Somewhere Over The Rainbow, great voice!

Is it just me finding it a bit awkward that Nicole's going to be 'judging' (whatever that term will come to mean in All Stars) contestants that have gone on to have careers either on a similar level or greater than she has? laugh.gif Having said that she was one of my favourite judges so it'll be good to have her back on the panel. I'm assuming Sharon definitely wouldn't come back and Cheryl probably declined due to life commitments, etc?

I doubt they were even asked if they wanted to come back. Simon likes to pretend they never won The X Factor or that they even exist.

yes, it’s just you - mainly because it’s untrue.
ever heard of the pussycat dolls? 54 million records may be what all of the x factor winners may have sold combined x

also, she’s an amazing judge. not just on the x factor, she’s on the masked singer + australia’s got talent. plus, she was discovered on a reality tv show + turned it into a hugely successful career. she’s more than earned her seat.

While I agree with you about Nicole, you could argue that Leona Lewis has achieved a US #1 album and single something that Nicole has never achieved, and from a UK perspective the likes of Leona, JLS, One Direction (on a worldwide scale too with them), Little Mix, Alexandra Burke... all had more success than Nicole as a solo artist and in some cases with PCD...

when it comes to winners, none of them have surpassed 54 million singles + albums. it will be more when nicole’s solo singles are added in sooo...

plus, pcd had 2 #1 singles + nicole has her own plus a string of top 5 hits.
it’s absurd to even suggest that her judging would be awkward because she’s “not as successful” as some x factor alumni.

I totally agree that it is absurd to say it would be awkward, but it's not so absurd to say some of those acts have been just as big as her or bigger on a UK scale... Leona Lewis had more #1 albums and singles than PCD or Nicole, JLS had more #1 albums and singles, Little Mix have sold way more in the UK and again had more #1 albums and singles, so has Alexandra Burke etc...

but what nicole has that transcends the UK success that most of these acts have is that she achieved massive worldwide success. yes, leona (for a very short time) had some worldwide success but the fact that she’s going back to this show details exactly where she’s at with that now.

my point was that nicole not only has the hits and the numbers to back up her status as a judge, she’s a television personality + that sets her apart from most of the people she would be judging (if she was doing that show, she’s doing the celeb one anyway).

would it be “awkward” if Dannii Minogue was invited back because she hasn’t had anywhere near the success as a lot of them? it’s safe to say that most of the artists that feature as a judge on shows like this aren’t at the top of their musical game because they wouldn’t have the time to do it.

Cheryl said a few weeks ago she'd be up for returning but The Sun reported because of her signing on for series 2 of The Greatest Dancer on BBC One it isn't possible, they are both made by Syco though so it would be cool if they did allow it but presumably the BBC would be against it.

I mean Leona has sold over 30 Million records alone, then you take into acts like Little Mix who I believe are around 15 - 20 million, James Arthur will be getting up there now too.

I hope Nicole is doing the celeb show but I wouldn't want her on the All Stars because for me it also doesn't feel right, ideally it would be Sharon but I think she is done with X Factor for good.

Yeah I actually agree I don’t think the success musically is relevant, I was simply saying I can see what they mean re success.

I would personally like Mel B to do the All stars and look at her solo success laugh.gif I do wonder if that is a reason for her staying in the U.K. to do one of Simon’s shows since she is now longer on AGT?

I’ve really enjoyed The Voice Kids format of having a show on every night for a week do you think The Voice and The X Factor would benefit being on every night for 2 weeks instead of each week?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Aug 31 2019, 10:42 AM

Well they'd have to change The X Factor live shows - The Voice Kids is pre-recorded up to the final.

They wouldn't be able to practice properly for a different performance each night.

Dermot spoke a little bit about the Celebrity and All Stars series on Build LDN today:

He didn't give too much away, other than to say the Celebrity auditions were filmed at Simon's house in Malibu in July. All Stars will be in the last couple of weeks before Christmas.

Dan f***Ong Wootton tho :/

Hyped for Megan!! She is SO good and I'm glad she's getting a platform to show people that that's solely about her singing.

The soap star is also definitely Victoria Ekanoye (Angie Appleton in Corrie)

I've figured out the other soap star is Luke Jerdy from Hollyoaks! Also obv Jenny Ryan that trailer makes blatantly obvious, most excited for her and Megan! Making up groups out of random Love Islanders, sport stars and a bunch of social influencers really seems like a shite idea that's asking to go wrong though laugh.gif

There's also definitely Kevin McHale in the trailer

Posted by: Liаm Sep 21 2019, 11:08 PM

This seems to be the full line-up (or most of it, seems outbalanced in terms of solo females but I assume the "auditions" will cut a few or maybe we just don't know about the rest of the other categories):

GROUPS
Love Islanders (Samira, Wes, Eyal and Zara from S4)
Rugby stars boyband (Thom Evans, Ben Foden and Levi Davis)
Jeremy Edwards (actor) and Brendan Cole (Strictly pro) (?? what a random pairing)
"The influencers" (no word on who they are but I doubt I'll know them anyway lmao, Ashley from CBB the other year come thru x)

SOLO MALES
Kevin McHale (Glee actor)
Vinnie Jones (footballer/actor)
Luke Jerdy (Hollyoaks actor)
Martin Bashir (journalist)

SOLO FEMALES
Olivia Olson (actress - all I'm gonna hear is Busted from Phineas and Ferb whenever she sings laugh.gif)
Hayley Hasselhoff (model/actress)
Victoria Ekanoye (Corrie actress)
Ricki Lake (talk show host - she was great on Masked Singer!)
Megan McKenna (TOWIE/CBB/Ex On The Beach/country princess x)
Jenny Ryan (The Chase)

Quite a poor calibre of names but a good few I know can sing!

Oh apparently the influencers are all Latin American and barely speak English laugh.gif

Posted by: cantthinkofaname Sep 22 2019, 10:01 AM

Lmao they're really slapping the word "celebrity" on just about anybody these days aren't they? laugh.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 22 2019, 03:02 PM

Megan McKenna can actually sing! She also knows Simon doesn’t she as she’s done BGT and regular X Factor before.

I’m interested in seeing how this goes though. I wonder what the fee was for people to do it.

Is the Angie from Corrie actress still in the show I recognised her straight away but I feel I haven’t seen her for ages in Corrie.

Posted by: 365 Sep 22 2019, 04:17 PM

Yeah she was on BGT with her friend as a duo, she did also audition for XF in like 2012 and didn't get through oops, I don't think it was televised though! She's got so much better since tbf.

I remember Megan saying Cheryl was her mentor wasn’t she! And she didn’t get a chair during the challenge. She’s a great singer but unfortunately as good as she is I can’t see her having a serious music career. People will always see her as the one who kicked off constantly in CBB, and she was even worse on Ex On The Beach laugh.gif

Her exit was so low key. I thought she was just going on holiday after the whole her husband really works in a gift shop saga but she just didn’t come back. Can’t say I miss her on the show. I don't think she even got to Six Chair, we definitely never saw her on TV on XF afaik! I think she has the most potential out of the bunch on paper, especially in a country niche, I think she just needs a proper chance and a push rather than the just about there and fine enough songs that she had on her album. I suppose the rugby daddies man-band could have an ok selling mothers day cover album laugh.gif Honestly I can just as easily see Vinnie Jones winning and this being a total disaster, but I'm excited for it much more than I would be for a normal series because it's something different and I can't wait to see Jenny and Megan who I really like on it.

Well I suppose on paper the girlband could have potential, but I think they're the biggest scraping of the barrel I've ever seen on a celebrity show so I doubt people will vote for them at all unless they're undeniably incredible.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 25 2019, 10:24 PM

Vinnie Jones is gonna get a lot of "OMG HE CAN SING!!!!!" housewives votes. Guarantee it. It'll be the whole people expect him to be God awful, like a 2 out of 10, but ends up being a 5 out of 10 but getting universal praise coz they're "shocked" he can just about sing. laugh.gif

Ugh. Megan is gonna be the big shock early exit, isn't she?

I can't even see anything to suggest to me those girls are even influencers laugh.gif One look at 3 of their Instagram profiles shows them to be just... Latin musicians who haven't made much of an impact. So strange.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 1 2019, 11:31 PM

I’d put a bet on Jonny Labey.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 1 2019, 11:33 PM

I'd love to say Megan but she is 1000% gonna be the big shock exit, and I'd love to say Jenny but she screams early exit fodder as much as I know she has a great voice sad.gif

I'd say the rugby guys or maybe Jonny (young white attractive male ofc has an easy boost up on X Factor), with the Islanders as potential dark horses, are my gut feeling. The only thing with the latter is, apart from Wes, none of them are the most popular or memorable Islanders from that series. There's a gap in the market for a mixed group, but I can imagine Eyal letting the side down talent wise (I know Samira is incred).

Legit the biggest barrel scrape ever on a reality show I think? laugh.gif I can't think of a worse one, even if they WERE influencers in Latin America how on earth would virtually anyone in the UK know them! I guess Sofia must be some kind of known celebrity (even just via social media) to have 2m followers and be verified, but the others... Maybe Simon scouted her and put some Pussycat Doll esque backing people in and hoped nobody would notice.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 1 2019, 11:52 PM

Kevin could be the shock exit too

He’s he one who I’d say most people already know for singing and they might not want an American to win.

But Megan again could a shock exit as her style of singing is country and that’s not that popular in the UK.

I kinda agree on the Islanders part too. Who knew Wes could also sing to add to his existing talents of swimming and ice skating laugh.gif he’s totally one of those who’s just naturally good at everything.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 1 2019, 11:54 PM

I do wonder if like on Strictly you'll get a backlash for the ones who are known to be good at singing, "he was already in Glee he's lying that he can't sing and perform!1!!1" "she released an album already she had her chance!11!1" laugh.gif

It depends on how they portray their experience.

You always get one on Strictly who knows exactly what they’re doing yet in their VT and in their training videos they make out it’s so out of their comfort zone and appear like they’re struggling. If they act like that it could well go against them.

I mean Kevin is literally like quite close to being a professional singer. This will be like a walk in the park for him. I’d say he’s definitely got the biggest advantage.

Ben Foden oh yes I’ll be watching this!

Considering the BGT ratings (shocked at how bad it’s done) I wouldn’t be surprised if this hit a low of around 2.5m - 3m

Positive review from Digital Spy! Really intruiged for tonight's show - the social medias are flooded by the same 5 Max and Harvey fans spamming emojis 100s of times each.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 12 2019, 02:55 PM

I’m also sort of intrigued by this.

I’ve seen more hype and positivity around this on social media than what I have for the regular series for ages.

I think as a one off kind of thing it could really work

Posted by: lewistgreen Oct 12 2019, 03:48 PM

Looking forward to this later! I’m just surprised it’s taken them 13 years since Battle of the Stars to bring a Celebrity contest back.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 12 2019, 03:48 PM

Well Cowell said he hated Battle of the Stars after it aired

Yep I am very intrigued too.

The regular series had definitely become stale, so I’m happy to see something different.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 12 2019, 04:56 PM

If it’s just a one off or once in a while thing it’ll work but if they do a celeb one every year I think each one would be less popular.

But yeah it’s good the usual X Factor is having a break maybe it’ll do it good for whenever it returns.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 12 2019, 05:13 PM

I'm actually much more excited for X Factor than I've been in a good few years with this! Idk if it will work in practice but it's nice to have a different iteration to be intrigued about, rather than knowing it's going to be the usual shit laugh.gif

This is going to be car crash TV viewing, just let Olivia win that would do nicely.

I shall give it a few weeks, but I can see myself giving up half way through. I just prefer the original way.

The Love Islanders were decent, Wes was the stand out

Posted by: ElectroBoy Oct 12 2019, 07:59 PM

I think this is all over the place; it should be done like a comedy. Rob Beckett commentary a la CGD ripping into everyone - there is no need for Dermot at all....

Why are they talking about sticking together post show, a gap in the market and all that crap. No one cares enough post show anymore.

The show hasn't changed at all

Posted by: Cameron Oct 12 2019, 07:59 PM

Wes was the best of the Love Islanders

Posted by: ElectroBoy Oct 12 2019, 08:00 PM

Also Simon looks bloody awful

Louis still hasn't learned how to clap either

Posted by: Jack Oct 12 2019, 08:00 PM

Posted by: Liаm Oct 12 2019, 08:07 PM

Wes was so much better than the others, he should have gone on alone!

Kevin was a huge disappointment, he was never my fave Glee voice but I expected a lot better.

Jenny was on another planet to anything else tonight, I did not expect that at all, slay!!

Posted by: BiLLYx Oct 12 2019, 09:19 PM

I really enjoyed this and it felt more fresh than before - it’s the X Factor though so you know roughly what you’re going to get but I did enjoy it!

For me, TryStar were standouts but Jenny was great too!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 12 2019, 09:55 PM

Agreed, I actually really liked tonight! The talent level wasn't insane but it was better than I thought, Jenny was brilliant and Try Star were a real surprise plus I think there's a lot of potential in the Islanders and the guys off Youtube (who I was prepared to hate), but the actual show itself just felt so much fresher. The pacing was much better than it usually is, it didn't feel like they lingered too long on any part. They showed who everyone was but didn't linger on it, no extended sob story VTs, it was more just about the fact they were there to sing which the show is about. I'm under no illusions they'll actually find a star but it's going to be enjoyable to watch for the next few weeks I think.

Out of tonight's I'd rank them:

01 Jenny - biased as I love her, but in terms of power and talent, she wiped the floor with everyone else tonight.
02 Try Star - I think if they weren't hot it wouldn't have been as hyped but they were good and seemed quite prepared, they instantly really gelled and had chemistry. I'm wondering how they'll be at say a slower song though, or just anything where they can't use their sex appeal to amp it up, because that performance aspect was a lot of the reason why they were good.
03 Max & Harvey - Surprised at how good I found them, I wasn't going mad over them but their voices were much more appealing than I expected.
04 Islanders - there's huge potential if they can find their harmonies, Zara and Eyal really need to improve a lot though. Wes is an absolute star! Maybe they'll wheel out an X Factor cliche and single him out to take through.
05 Martin - a cute performance, if very X Factor series 1 fodder Over laugh.gif
06 Hayley - I loooove her tone, but she just didn't quite get there tonight so I don't think she'll have a chance sad.gif
07 Kevin - a really weak performance imo, he was quite quiet throughout it and it left not a lot of an impression on me.
08 Cole And Edwards - terrible, and Jeremy seems so so up himself, he came across awfully!

Posted by: pippa Oct 13 2019, 11:42 AM

I had wanted this to be so much better than it is.
That said, once the line up was revealed i sensed it would be a let down and it is.

Posted by: JosephStyles Oct 13 2019, 12:06 PM

I enjoyed the first episode! An interesting selection of talent so far, some obviously better than others. It definitely felt fresher than a typical X Factor series, purely because it's something different. Martin aside, the typical sob stories weren't there (and even then, Martin's actually felt genuine and not shoehorned in). I agree with what people have said in here - it's still very much X Factor at the core (and I think anyone expecting anything else wasn't being realistic) but it was a risk that for once actually seemed to pay off for the show.

My rank:

1. Max & Harvey - I guess it helps that I've known them, and their music, for almost a year laugh.gif but this is absolutely my style of music and I'd be thrilled for them to gain a bigger platform!
2. Love Islanders - I think there's loads of potential here. Most importantly, all of them can sing to some degree, and the rest of it like harmonies etc can be worked on as I'm sure they're not going anywhere yet.
3. Jenny - I don't think I'd listen to an album of hers but gosh she can SING! I think she could absolutely have a career in musical theatre when she's not doing The Chase.
4. Kevin - solid, a pretty good song choice, but I think we've not seen the best of him yet.
5. Martin - cute and sincere
6. Try Star - borderline annoying to me oops
7. Hayley - not bad, but nothing too standout either and she definitely has some bad habits.
8. Cole and Edwards - obviously. No singing talent there and Jeremy taking it personal was so against the spirit of the show otherwise.

Posted by: Adam Oct 13 2019, 01:06 PM

I can understand why Jeremy was put out, they called it a car crash and said the only reason they'd go through was Brendan's fan base lol. BUT. you'd think twenty years of acting would mean he'd be able to cover that up, appalling response tbh

Posted by: Liаm Oct 13 2019, 01:11 PM

That comment was stupid tbf, Simon acting like as many people watched Strictly as they did solely because of Brendan laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 13 2019, 03:21 PM

I actually really enjoyed it! Jenny was amazing, and I thought Kevin and Martin were very good as well. Pleasantly surprised by Max and Harvey! They seem really likeable as well, which I wasn't expecting tongue.gif

Posted by: Calum Oct 13 2019, 09:17 PM

Just finished watching and this was really fun - certainly the most I've enjoyed watching XF for a long time! Obviously the talent level wasn't exactly amazing, but there were a few great surprises in there, namely Jenny! Max and Harvey were fantastic though, easily the best for me wub.gif

1. Max & Harvey
2. Try Star
3. Jenny
4. Love Islanders
5. Martin
6. Kevin - he was never my favourite in Glee, but I was expecting so much more from him? He just didn't deliver at all, and he kinda butchered NBTS sad.gif
7. Hayley
8. Cole and Edwards

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 14 2019, 12:03 AM

This was so odd to watch.

I was expecting more talent tbh although I feel the best talent could be on next weeks show.

The show did need freshening up but after watching this I don’t know if this is the way. It just felt really weird.

I mean Strictly and watching celebs dance is fun and light hearted but competing for a record contract on this is just pointless. Like there’ll be virtually zero success for whoever wins this. If it was a charity thing it would’ve worked better or if they weren’t really competing for anything. But a record contract for the winner really.

The reason strictly does so well is because you win a glitter ball and there’s an element of taking part and there’s no real serious side to it what makes out it’s some life changing event, making this version of the show like this and we’re it feels they’re competing against each other feels apparent.

And then there’s the people who we don’t know for singing tag when some have record deals, albums released and Kevin is literally known more for singing than anything else lol.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 14 2019, 12:28 AM

I found it all very strange, and very messy and really cant see the winner doing much at all.

01 Try Star > Surprisingly decent. Not great, but a better song choice and I think it'd work. <
02 Max & Harvey > Ugh. I hate that I've got them this high, but they were alright. <
03 Jenny > Vocally powerful, but incredibly monotone and meh. <
04 Islanders > There's potential with these. I feel like if they have the correct mentor and work on who works best where, then this could be ok! <
05 Martin > Generic overs performance. <
06 Hayley > Mehhhhh. <
07 Kevin > He really should've been a lot better. But then again, he was never the star in Glee. His voice is flat and boring. <
08 Cole And Edwards > LMAO. W/e <

I liked the show though. I thought the format worked really well. So excited to see Megan next week. I really hope she smashes it coz I saw her live a month or so ago and she was fantastic! Really impressed me vocally actually!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 14 2019, 12:41 AM

I’m saying it’s being taken too seriously by the judges in giving out a record contract.

But it’s a bit like flogging a dead horse If you get what I mean. You could have the best singer in the world on this winning and they still wouldn’t make them a success. The best they’ll manage is a iTunes top 10 track what charts at number 89 officially due to streaming and everyone will go back to what it is we know them for or disappear altogether.

It should’ve been for charity and nothing else.

Like let’s for example say Jenny wins. Is she really gonna stop being a chaser on what I presume is the UKs most popular quiz show at the moment to become a serious recording artist? There’s more chance of us getting a Louisa album than that happening.

They can’t even get a success story or any material out of the people that do the normal series so how they’ll treat a celebrity who’ll probably not be his main priority will be even worse.

I’ll probably still watch but I think the show itself should’ve just took a few years off rather than trying out things like this what’s just gonna damage the brand even more.

Posted by: kye Oct 14 2019, 10:31 AM

i don’t understand how that affects your enjoyment, though? whether it’s just for charity or they get a recording contract, the process is still the same.

plus, i think the idea is that they get to make an album. so it’ll be the usual syco fodder. it doesn’t mean they’ll quit their day job to become a singer. the format is different for the celebrities so it’s just something on the side. bradley walsh releases albums but still does the chase.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Oct 14 2019, 10:45 AM

Yeh my issue with it was it should’ve just been done as more a comedy. Everything was just taken so seriously - the islanders talking about a gap in the market - I mean p!ss off.

The show could’ve been good, but just done correctly. As Jordan says flogging a dead horse

Agreed, I imagine it will be that they do a nice little covers album that's released only a few months after the show they might try with a single for the likes of Megan, V5, The Islanders or Max & Harvey, but given the absolute nothing they've done with Dalton and the bare minimum they did with say Rak-Su and Louisa, it doesn't matter whether it's a celebrity or normal series, there isn't going to really be a huge star from the show.

I agree it is a bit stupid for them still to pretend that they are going to find a star but given how awful the past couple of series have been, I'm just glad that the format is a bit fresher and it's more entertaining to watch because of it.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia Oct 14 2019, 03:33 PM

It peaked at 5.1 million viewers and had an average of 4.5 million over the hour and half it was on.
I was expecting it to be way worse with them headlines, X factor hasn't pulled strictly numbers in a good 7 years so wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near that.
Wasn't BGT champions only pulling 3/4 million? I was expecting x factor celebrity to do worse.

Axe BGT whilst they're at it!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 14 2019, 04:00 PM

That show is still very successful for them, no chance they'll axe that anytime soon, or I'm a Celeb

Posted by: kye Oct 14 2019, 04:16 PM

the media has to grasp that with each year that passes, the way that people consume television evolves. so many steaming platforms, the catch-up services.. and it means that live/overnight figures don’t mean as much.

the final number is really all that they care about and the consolidated figures are never reported on as they represent a much better number + have less of the shock factor. strictly’s numbers are down year on year but that’s probably because their line-up isn’t as strong but that also adds to those that don’t care too much about watching it live + will catch up later.

x factor is doing fine! there’s nothing to replace it that will pull in those figures so we will be seeing it for a while. the only thing i can think of is the masked singer being a massive hit + they put it on in autumn the year after.

I'm a celeb gets like more than double XF's viewing figures - so is unlikely to be axed. Even last year with Ant gone and Holly there, the ranking went up rather than dropped.

IAC, BGT and SCD and really the 3 juggernauts of RTV, especially given IAC/ SCD have been going for nearly 20 years (now I feel old)

Just out of curiosity, what was it that you were expecting? The X Factor, to put it plainly is people battling it out for a recording contract and that was made clear that it wasn’t going to change for the celebrity version.

In terms of the shows tag they had said the stars aren’t primarily known for their singing - this is a reach as some obviously have a level of singing background (although not mainly known for it i wouldn’t say) but i thought it was better sacrificing that for a good show of mainly competent singers instead of the comedy element.

I get people are fed up of X Factor but I think they freshened it up where they could.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 15 2019, 01:38 PM

I was expecting the format to pretty much be the same although I think it would’ve been more credible had it been for charity or something like that.

But I expected I’d find at least one performance to be good but for my ears and my tastes none of them were great. Had it been a regular season with those auditions I don’t think many would’ve gotten through.

Megan McKenna will probably be the best alongside Jonny from EE and Victoria from CS all who are on Saturdays show.

Maybe I’m just falling out of love with the show through which is a shame as it used to be my favourite reality show.

(also regarding the girl-group - I thought they nailed the chorus but the solos were very ropey)

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 19 2019, 08:29 PM

So I’m predicting

Unders
Megan
Kevin
Jonny

Overs
Victoria
Ricki
Jenny

Groups
Max and Harvey
Try Star
Either The Islanders or V5

The groups are quite hard to predict as those 4 all have some sort of potential so will be interesting to see what way that goes .

EDIT : Clearly didn’t expect 4 acts from each to go through from each category. laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 19 2019, 08:54 PM

Wtf Jenny was the best there

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 19 2019, 09:00 PM

Jenny was incredibly one tone. She had power, but there wasn't anything to her voice! I'm glad Nicole didn't just put her through just coz she belted.

Although her reaction + not putting her through seems really bizarre?!

Posted by: gooddelta Oct 19 2019, 09:00 PM

Mad not to see Jenny through ohmy.gif she has an amazing voice, and so different to the rest.

Cole & Edwards and Hayley are no sad loss, but weird to go through so much effort with flying everyone over to LA and inviting a star studded crowd just to turf out three acts out of 15 laugh.gif

I would say Victoria was the best personally in that category but I agree Jenny should have gone through there over Martin. It’s also not fair for Vinnie Jones to just automatically go through without auditioning. Obviously condolences to him and his family but competition wise it’s quite unfair

Posted by: kye Oct 19 2019, 09:04 PM

i think, judging by the way they edited it, they said yes to jenny + when vinnie came back into the equation they had to cut someone.

I would have thought Jenny would have gone through instead of Martin, but Vinnie Jones getting a lifeline without auditioning is a bit leftfield.

I get that Jenny's voice isn't for everyone but how on EARTH did Martin get in over her? Ricki I loved because she seemed to really have that passion and I can imagine her really improving if she gets a chance to stay in for a few weeks. If they did say yes to those 4 then they let Vinnie through and have to cut someone, it easily should have been Martin.

I think it's really unfair too for Vinnie to just be allowed to go through without auditioning. Of course it's really awful what happened and I'm devastated for his family, but I think for fairness they should have just let everyone through maybe and had a couple of double eliminations to make up for there being a couple more numbers wise. Given they only cut 3 I don't think that was out of the realms of possibility.

A positive from tonight - Victoria and ofc Megan are both on another planet to the rest, just fab! wub.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 20 2019, 11:37 AM

Vinnie will probably have big public support as well tbh!

Tbh the auditions or judges houses or what they’re calling it part to me felt a bit like why......

They should have just started it at the live shows and then have the person with the lowest votes from each category leave.

The better singers for me did tend to fall onto tonight’s show.

Well for me Jonny, Victoria and Megan especially were better than anyone who were on last week

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 20 2019, 12:45 PM

I agree i think they should have went straight to live shows and done a double or triple elimination on week 1. I watched but skipped through parts, im hoping the all stars editions will spark my interest in the show again but everything is so staged on the show and i think its what puts me off, Simon inparticular last night looked like every move he made was just staged to the last.

they had to do an audition process so that you can be introduced to the acts, hear their stories etc. we’ve had 2 weeks of getting to know these people now so you have a favourite to back etc.

But if it’s celebrities you’ll know who your backing first initially because you tend to go for your fave celeb before the show on shows like this and know who they are too by the way they billed it.

Plus surely the story they have above anything else is they got paid to do the show

they’re hardly the most well-known celebrities though are they? laugh.gif and going into this i had no idea who v5 were but i really enjoyed their audition + will be rooting for them on the lives. i’d day the initial shows did their job.

Such a pointless audition phase only losing 2 but I guess that's the same as doing a double elimination first week, it's just in a different place laugh.gif

8 weeks apparently!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 20 2019, 11:41 PM

Oh that's long, I thought it would be like 4 or so and then a month of All Star X Factor, god knows when they're gonna show that because The Voice is always on at the start of Jan isn't it?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 20 2019, 11:49 PM

All Stars is being stripped across 1 week apparently

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Oct 20 2019, 11:51 PM

Oooh just saw about Jenny, brilliant news!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 21 2019, 12:42 AM

And Jenny’s back so we legit had a full scale audition process to lose two acts and then bring someone in who were yet to hear perform?

They totally should’ve cancelled the entire auditions tbh to lose just two is stupid.

They should’ve started it at the lives or got the acts down so they had just two each or something and just not have Vinnie enter.

I wonder if the Jenny thing was staged tbh. Don’t put through someone who’s popular and can actually hold a tune for the classic boycot the show like promo they think it’ll get and then it’ll do her more good when the lives actually come as the GBP love an underdog.

But yeah this is a weird watch for me

For a show that was once untouchable and the #1 reality talent contest!!

The serious element side to it is still what I’d say is the main issue with it though.

I mean come on is everyone genuinely being serious that they want a record contract and that this is their dream etc... Megan sounded genuine but even she’s got some sort of deal she was one of the support acts for Michael Bubles show surely that required some amount of £££ and a deal to secure.

Posted by: kye Oct 21 2019, 11:00 AM

so glad that jenny’s gonna be on the lives wub.gif still think they put her through anyway + had to edit in post production.

Posted by: TheJü-Pumpkin Oct 21 2019, 11:32 AM

Agree 100% with Jordan Lee. I bet they could've got bigger names if it was for charity too instead of no hopers trying to get a side career out of it! Does feel a bit mean spirited in a way.

I have to disagree with this, tbh. I think they've been very careful to select "celebrities" that are genuinely very passionate about music and want to work on their own music with a record deal and become known for that. Megan for example, this is her dream.

I know none of them are exactly A-listers, but I'm respecting the show so much more for going out and finding celebrities that a) can actually sing and b) genuinely want to make a career out of it and follow their dreams! Yeah, it may not work out, but good for them trying! If they'd gone and got a bunch of massive names that you just know are never gonna go into the music industry and are only there for the cheque it really wouldn't be worth watching.

As for this weekend's show, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Really loved all of the acts apart from Ricki tbh, oops. Megan's performance was good too, but didn't feel it was as powerful as it could've been!

1. Victoria Ekanoye
2. Jonny Labey
3. Olivia Olson
4. V5
5. Megan McKenna
6. Ricki Lake

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 21 2019, 01:19 PM

I can agree in one part there I believe it is Megan’s dream and she can sing I actually really like her personally BUT she’s always going to be known for CBB above anything else.

She was actually a lot worse on Ex On The Beach too tbh but people will immediately always associate her as being “that crazy girl” no matter how good a singer is.

That's true! I guess with someone like her people will always have a preconceived opinion because of TOWIE, CBB, EOTB, etc. Hopefully that's something we're able to move past though and admire her for her talents.

We know how fickle the public are too, if she were to release an amazing album after this she'd be hailed as the next Adele or whatever by those that didn't like her before. laugh.gif

Posted by: kye Oct 21 2019, 05:14 PM

i don’t even like megan but to say she shouldn’t be taking part in this because she’ll only ever be known for being on cbb is taking your dislike of the format a bit far laugh.gif

so nobody should do anything after doing something memorable in their lives because they’ll never top it? she should just quit working or trying to better herself because, in your opinion, she’ll never change the perception of herself?

I love Megan and believe it’s her dream but when you do things like that before you have a singing career when you want to start it it’s hard to be taken seriously.

Had she had a singing career to start with and then went down the reality route it wouldn’t have been as difficult but that’s just my opinion.

She’d be better off starting a career in another country where she hasn’t been on TV before and there’s less pre conceptions of her.

Plus my main dislike this week really was what was the point of auditions or judges houses depending on what they called it lol usually it is to whittle down contestants. So far we’ve had three eliminations where ones been brought back and then someone else is joining the lives too. Amazing job of getting the contestants down laugh.gif laugh.gif

I bet Jenny’s exit was completely staged though.

Posted by: RobBob Oct 21 2019, 08:03 PM

It COULD be possible though. I agree with the bulk of what you're saying, if not all of what you're saying, but I guess you could use Cardi B as a case study to being trashy and managing to salvage a career.

But I think you probably just shouldn't worry too much or put too much stock in the artists from this actually getting much from it. The show will always try and promote itself as a hit making factory because... well, why wouldn't it? But, it's probably best to enjoy it and not worry about any of these factors cos it's unlikely any of them will gather much leverage from this show.

I mean, she did top the Itunes chart, and whilst it’s not the beast it once was surely some people must be taking her a little serious? I don’t think reality TV is as damaging as it once was either, and if the music is good she’ll be fine.

If they do I’d guess at James Arthur being one this week as he’s just released his third album.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 22 2019, 12:36 PM

I think Megan probably has the best chance of anyone to do well out of this tbh, maybe just in a Radio 2 esque album kind of way but still. That's better than you'd get off the main show in most cases laugh.gif I think a good bunch of them have commercial potential and whilst the show isn't the juggernaut it once was, and I don't expect they will find a star on the level of Little Mix, 1D or Leona (I mean Dalton hasn't even RELEASED yet), I can't see why it's impossible that they will do anything. Just two years ago Rak-Su got a big hit with Dimelo off the back of the show, and I know Megan had some tantrums on CBB but people have come back from so much worse.

I think this strikes the balance just right, all of them seem to be there to either take music seriously or at least have a go and explore that side of things to see what happens, but it's not taking itself TOO seriously. I like the little bits and pieces of them talking and the VTs are just enough to get to know everyone without making everything a sob story or dragging them out with their entire life story. I feel like if it was for charity, it'd veer more into embarrassing as I think bigger names would do it, but at the expense of talent, so it'd just end up like the infamous first celebrity series.

12/1 Jenny Ryan
12/1 Jonny Labey

People have come back from much worse than Megan but the awful thing is she’s a young woman.

Had she been a male reality star whod been violent or someone like Ben whod cheated on his wife nobody would bat an eyelid though but girls always have it harder to come back from things for some reason.

I mean look at the main chart people like Chris Brown can score hits pretty easily after what he did but Jessie Js commercial career died and she did much less controversial things.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 22 2019, 08:53 PM

I’d say Jonny has the best shot to win the whole thing tbh.

Vinnie I could see reaching third perhaps.

Megan will probably finish top 5 too but I can’t see her winning sad.gif

Victoria will be the what we call shock exit.

03.0 Ricki Lake - Landslide

07.5 No Love Lost - All Or Nothing

06 Kevin McHale - not sure on the song choice but he did reasonably well with it and his stage presence was notably better this time!
04 Ricki Lake - she tried her best... which didn't really amount to much kink.gif her voice is just so flat
08 No Love Lost - really liked the original song and think there's LOADS of potential for these guys! Samira and Wes in particular smashed it

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 07:51 PM

05.0 Jenny - Rise Like A Phoenix

> I DONT GET THE HYPE. I really, really don't. Sorry. sad.gif Powerful, yes. But LIGHT & SHADE. <

No Love Lost really have a lot of potential tbh they just need to loosen up a bit more . Samira and Wes are shining .

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:01 PM

04.0 Jonny - Show Me Love

> This arrangement just doesnt work. You know when they try so hard to make something their own and it just ends up being.. a bit too try-hard? Performance wise, he reminds me of Luca Hänni. <

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:06 PM

> That was very solid! I'm loving this girl group atm! I feel that was very in between LM & 5H <

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:10 PM

01.0 Martin Bashir - Danke Schoen

> THAT WASNT EVEN FUN NOVELTY! UGH. <

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 26 2019, 08:14 PM

V5 are quite good and well together which is kind of surprising considering they haven’t been together very long and just got a new member laugh.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles Oct 26 2019, 08:15 PM

06 Kevin McHale
04 Ricki Lake
08 No Love Lost
07 Jenny Ryan - the song choice was perfect for her!
05 Jonny Labey - I liked that he took a well known song and "made it his own", rather than using an overdone swing / big band song, though the vocal wasn't quite strong enough
08 V5 - really strong! Think there's lots of potential here
02 Martin Bashir - he seemed sooooo out of place on that stage

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:21 PM

07.0 Max & Harvey - When Will I Be Famous

> That wasn't nearly as dated as I thought it'd sound. I'm quite liking these 2 tbh. Lots of room for improvement, but was a good start. <

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 26 2019, 08:23 PM

I think this is the first time that The Groups have been the strongest category overall imo ? I think all 4 groups are decent and have some sort of potential.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:26 PM

> Pretty much the same comment as M&H... reminded me a lil of You Don't Own Me by Grace. A tad. <

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:31 PM

00.0 Vinnie Jones - Everybody Needs Somebody

> lol no. But he's so winning. Ffs. <

06 Kevin McHale
04 Ricki Lake
08 No Love Lost
07 Jenny Ryan
05 Jonny Labey
08 V5
02 Martin Bashir
07 Max & Harvey - not the strongest I've heard them but I didn't mind the song choice actually, they sold it well!
05 Olivia Olson - fine but bad, dated song choice
00 Vinnie Jones - good f***ing grief

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:40 PM

09.0 Megan McKenna - This

> SHE'S A STAR. GAHHHH!!! I love her! <

08.5 Victoria Ekanoye - Never Tear Us Apart

> YES! Some moments were a tadge too shouty, but that was SO GOOD! <

Another inspired song choice - that is really enhancing the appeal on top of her having a great voice *.*

Posted by: lewistgreen Oct 26 2019, 08:55 PM

All songs are up on iTunes/Apple Music/Spotify/Amazon etc

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 08:56 PM

05.0 Try Star - Pony/Old Town Road

> Exactly what was expected. I'm so bored of sports stars (specifically Rugby ones) giving such mediocre performances in reality shows like this and winning/finishing high just coz "they're so much better than I expected. Wow". <

Posted by: Mart!n Oct 26 2019, 08:57 PM

The show was very poor, I think the only acts that were literally good was Jonny, V5 and Megan, even't Megan started with a whimper, but it grew on me as it went.

I don't understand why Vinny is there, I cringed at his performance it was so bad I had to mute it.

As for the voting, I love the idea of it to be announced on a Saturday night, instead of a Sunday, so I hope they carry it over for next year, when the proper show returns.

07 Jenny Ryan
05 Jonny Labey
08 V5
02 Martin Bashir
07 Max & Harvey
05 Olivia Olson
00 Vinnie Jones
09 Megan McKenna - beautiful heart.gif
08 Victoria Ekanoye - brilliant vocals, my one wish is that she had a more current song!
04 Try Star - excuse the pun but I think they're one trick ponies, I find them very cringeworthy

I didn't LOVE Olivia but that was an awful result, keeping Martin over her was a very poor decision drama.gif

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 26 2019, 09:13 PM

Simon really thinks Martin is that popular ? LOL no one would care if he left no shade . Olivia was robbed tbh she gave a solid vocal !

I'm actually stanning

Posted by: Jay ☆ Oct 26 2019, 09:21 PM

Ugh! Olivia was majorly let down by her song choice. sad.gif She sang it very nicely, but I hardly think it represented who she would be as an artist. It didn’t allow her to make an impression!

Simon choosing Martin over her, just because he’s far more well known and we apparently want to see him for that reason... nah. He wasn’t great at all, it wasn’t even endearingly bad. Olivia had potential to grow. I’m pretty confident Martin peaked at the auditions (where he wasn’t even that good anyway :’) ).

Oh well...

I wasn’t blown away by the vast majority of them. Victoria was excellent though! wub.gif No Love Lost’s song is indeed a bit of a bop *.*

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 26 2019, 09:45 PM

Im not surprised Olivia was bottom 3 she doesn’t have a large profile and whilst V5 aren’t too known either here I’m guessing they have a social media presence what’s stronger than what Olivias was.

She also seemed very very shocked as well to leave. Almost like she imagined she was going to do a lot better.

Had they actually sang again it may have been different but I think what Simon said was sort of true like... the GBP probably would rather watch Martin Bashir sing again.

Megan and Victoria were the best tonight though.

I also feel everyone who got a chair would’ve probably made it through on the public vote tbh.

Ricki deserved to go as well but I kinda thought Kevin might’ve been the other person in the bottom 3 rather than Martin.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 26 2019, 11:02 PM

04 Kevin McHale
He just doesn't have the right voice for that song. Idk what he has the right voice for, he's just not good enough on his own. Put it this way, there's a reason he got so few solos on Glee!

02 Ricki Lake
Love her, I like that she is just having a go and enjoying whatever she can out of it... But this song was not it for her. It's one of those songs that you don't necessarily need a Whitney voice for, but there's nowhere to hide and you have to hit it, and her voice just wasn't enough for it. She seemed to connect to it and gave it a go but it just wasn't there.

08.5 No Love Lost
The song is an absolute BANGER *.* Seriously, like it's better than most of the releases from this New Music Friday!! Zara's vocals really need work though, I feel like it'd be better as a duo of Wes and Samira where they do 2010 rap-sung bangers for nostalgia. I think they probably the most commercial potential, the flaws they do have can easily be worked on.

08.5 Jenny Ryan
I get that her voice isn't for everyone, but I love her power and passion and it was perfect for this song. I feel like Nicole over gave her the seat tbc she knew she messed up not putting her through in the first place though laugh.gif

04.5 Jonny Labey
Just not a fan of his style at all. Nobody needed a swing version of Show Me Love! I'd rather he just stuck to the same old cliche "classics" tbh, or better take a risk. It's gonna be boring if he keeps doing lifeless swing arrangements of songs that were fine in the first place.

07 V5
I don't think they really needed the Bad Guy part, but the Taki Taki part was FIRE. They have such potential but it could easily up as a Pussycat Dolls situation with the afro one taking over.

01 Martin Bashir
That was.... well it happened. It was like a bad audition, let alone a bad live show performance! Absolute joke that he was saved by the judges after that.

06.5 Max & Harvey
Not sure it was the right song but I like them a lot more than I expected! They have fun and show their personality but I like their voices too, they don't sacrifice that part of it.

05 Olivia Olson
Definitely not the best song choice, it was quite karaoke and didn't show her at her best, unfortunately. I can see why she was in the bottom for that, but her going over Martin.....

00 Vinnie Jones
Honestly, this is in contention for one of the worst things I've heard EVER on this show. I barely have the words, like what the flying f*** was that?? I mean fair enough if he just wanted to have a go and was shit, but christ the judges hyping it up?! Simon wants to find a star and take it seriously but says this could win... Just absolutely laughable.

09 Megan McKenna
Stunning, you can tell the songs come from her heart and in terms of connecting and telling the story she was the best tonight. My only worry is if all her songs are similar like this and Everything But You she's gonna lose hype.

10 Victoria Ekanoye
Flawless, I genuinely can't think of anything bad to say! She has the best vocal of anyone in the show, and she nailed this song. She made it her own just enough to stand out, but stuck to it as such a classic song you shouldn't tinker with too much.

05.5 Try Star
Not terrible, and I wasn't mad at the visuals to be fair x But it was very predictable, are they really going to rely on their sex appeal for every song? laugh.gif

Judging by iTunes Megan is surely going to win this

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 26 2019, 11:52 PM

Nah. I doubt that'll mean too much in todays climate. I feel like she'll consistently be the highest on iTunes (she did get the 1 & 2 spots simultaneously when she released her first two singles) but I'm def expecting/predicting her to be the huge shock elimination and come 5th or 6th or something. sad.gif

She has some brilliant upbeat songs on her album, so hopefully she'll pull out a couple of those ones (potentially a new one too).

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 27 2019, 12:32 AM

I think Megan will come 2nd or third.

I’d say Jonny has won this though.

Having said that with regular X Factor it was a curse to win and many of the best performing acts post show didn’t win.

Little Mix and Leona and James are probably exceptions but many times the runner up out did the winner.

I’d still imagine Megan has the best shot of doing something post show and it being remotely successful.

Posted by: Wall Oct 27 2019, 12:32 AM

Her odds to win are legit the most clear I’ve ever seen on X Factor! The second fav is 8/1!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 27 2019, 01:31 AM

Idk how it will go for Megan, she's one of those where I feel like I could see her being a shock exit in like 7th as much as I could see her winning. But with those odds, if she did crash out in 7th then it'd probably be THE biggest shock in a loooong time surely?

What's annoying me about Olivia going is that Martin is probably going to be bottom (and leave) next week, there wasn't much he could really change. Olivia still has loads of potential.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 27 2019, 05:42 PM

Simon really is out of touch. He literally put through imo his worse group in the safe seat when the other 3 groups were better and have more potential long term . And then of course the ridiculous choice in saving Martin over Olivia cause apparently more people want to see him he’s clearly not that popular if he’s in the bottom 3 the first week.

Posted by: Jonjo Oct 27 2019, 05:46 PM

Jonny is gonna get the winners treatment. I agree. He got rave reviews of an incredibly average-poor performance last night and was instantly given a seat. I assume to really avoid him being eliminated.

But thats how the judges should play the game tbh. Put their strongest contestant in that chair, who they know will struggle in the votes. (I.e. it's pointless putting Megan in the chair for example - only do it if they know she's in danger/messed up on her performance or whatever) that's why I was hoping Max & Harvey got the groups chair coz I feel they (although 100% safe overall) were the most at risk of the groups after last nights performances.

Posted by: ThePensmith Oct 27 2019, 06:55 PM

I've successfully avoided seeing any of this thus far but even just on people's reportings of it here it sounds like a molten puddle of butter, let alone a hot mess. To think it was unmissable telly 10 years ago, too. I get the sense this will be the last year it is on, but ITV have got a mountain to climb and then some to find a viable replacement to rival Strictly (although that show itself is on a slide with ratings much like say, X Factor c. 2012/2013).

Really didnt get any of his decisions and feedback. Jonny was ok at best but ud think he done something spectacular. It's a skip through show now as i dont think I could watch in full, I loved the show years ago but Simon will spend a fortune on judges, sets etc but won't invest in winners, I think if they put more effort into the winners years ago the show wouldn't be struggling as much.

Quite surprised how low No Love Lost are in the odds ? there the 2nd highest song behind Megan on iTunes with there song in currently in the top 30 and there performance was one of the most viewed/liked on Youtube . Also coming from Love Island they obviously will have some sort of fan base there already . They will last quite a while I reckon .

After a promising first episode, the show is fast descending into every clique / bad thing about 'regular' X Factor but on a much worse scale given the lack of talent (aside from like Megan and Victoria)...

Agreed. Instead of making the right decision, he’s so obsessed with doing what he thinks the public want to see, but as you said he is completely out of touch.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he thought he needed to give Try Star a safe seat because of the England rugby win. There’s always a hidden agenda.

She looked super confident she wasnt gonna be bottom 3. The look on her face when they said her name was quite something.

Then she probably assumed she’d go through over Martin too (to be fair I did too) although I do miss the sing off.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 28 2019, 01:15 AM

I'd be pissed off too if I lost a singing contest to the performance Martin gave laugh.gif

Posted by: Calum Oct 28 2019, 02:53 AM

That result was absolutely shocking. Simon really is so out of touch, but I guess they'll be trying to capture the same hot mess / 'drama' feel that the regular show had.

My rankings for week 1:

1. Megan McKenna Stunning song and stunning vocals. This was a lot better than her other original song I thought. wub.gif
2. Max & Harvey
3. Victoria Ekanoye
4. No Love Lost This was such a bop. Wes and Samira are the stars of the group though. I don't think anybody would notice if Zara disappeared either laugh.gif
5. V5 Their harmonies are impressive considering how little time they've been together, and their performance was great again! Hopefully the public can get behind them!
6. Olivia Olson
7. Jonny Labey
8. Jenny Ryan Wasn't as great a performance as I was hoping for. sad.gif
9. Kevin McHale
10. Try Star They're gonna get boring very quickly. They're nice to look at, but that's all there is to them. They're not gonna stick together after this lmao.
11. Ricki Lake Really flat and didn't go anywhere at all. I kept thinking the whole time of Santana's version from Glee and how good that was! This... wasn't it.
12. Martin Bashir
13. Vinnie Jones This was a car crash. All he did was shout as loud as he could for a couple of minutes. laugh.gif

Posted by: Mart!n Oct 28 2019, 11:10 AM

Overall, I think this show is rather rushed, as if Simon knew way ahead this was going to flop (hence no auditions, boot camp, sing off). Olivia going over Martin I still don't understand, and why was Vinnie was included is beyond me, I guess he got the sympathy votes, his performance was crap. The other groups don't do nothing for me. Max & Harvey will probably end up presenting a children's TV show and fall through Ant & Dec route biggrin.gif

Funny enough I don't really have a favourite act, I think the girl band V5 have got potential the first part was rather naff, and the second part Taki Taki sold it for me. And I thought Johnny was rather good, but again would people get into his music a la Leon Jackson. Kevin McHale, something about him I really like, but he could go out quite easily on a bad week.

I guess the big favourites must be Megan and Victoria, but I can see them just going Week 4 or 5, if double eliminations are going to be the constant thing week in week out.

The question is now, do I want to bother to carry on watching it, or just bang on a movie every Saturday night. unsure.gif

there was an audition process though - the two previous weeks were the auditions + who got through to the lives? they've said all along that this was being treated differently to the other shows, because celebs need a bit more tlc than civilians + most of them don't have the time to commit to all of the first rounds. it's why the set-up of the live show is different etc.

(p.s max + harvey already have their own children's tv show)

Posted by: Liаm Oct 28 2019, 01:32 PM

I wasn't mad at them not doing the proper format, obviously they selected the smaller pool of contestants straight off so they could hardly do the traditional format with more stages, otherwise they'd have nobody left by the lives laugh.gif There's nothing wrong with the format or the actual show, the way they're presenting it just feels better to me. There was much less faff, it just seemed to get to the point, and for the most part it's not about sob stories or struggles, it's about people who want to have a go at being musicians and have a genuine talent and passion. Even the ones I don't like so much like Kevin and Jonny, you can tell they want it and are giving it a shot.

But then there's a discord with Martin and Vinnie, neither have any discernible talent yet they're getting hyped up as if they're amazing, particularly the latter. I fully understand that they would have got so much shit for dropping Vinnie after his wife dying but SURELY when they scouting the line-up they would have had to hear them sing or have something to go on and they should have been a bit more selective. It just feels odd, on one hand there's so much right that makes it feel better than it has in a while, but there's a big hole that holds it back.

I will say this though, it's positive that I am into it enough to be as mad as I was at Jenny initially being booted at judges' houses and at Martin staying, I haven't been this invested in X Factor for a while. But I think that's down to me caring more as I love Megan and Jenny already so I have something to be invested in. Obviously for those who don't know many of the celebs or don't care, it's gonna be different.

Posted by: Adam Oct 28 2019, 05:31 PM

It was transparent X Factor of old. Heap praise onto the people with stories or who they've paid the most to. The ludicrous decision just showed things haven't changed. Louis and Simon are two of the worst judges in reality tv history.

I did enjoy some performances though.

01. Megan - just gorgeous and leagues ahead of every single other.

02. Jonny - I thoroughly enjoyed, but his vocal is only okay. Great performer though

03. No Love Lost - I was shook! The song was pretty great and they all stepped up bar Eyal. I think Simon was harsh saying it only kicked in halfway as Zara went from non entity last week to quite nailing her vocals I thought and Samira from shaky to pretty solid. They all did well. Only thing I would say is the song needed to breathe, it was rammed down your throat for three minutes straight and never had any light and shade

04. V5 - bit of a weird mash up but they show so much promise

05. Jenny - her voice is marmite and it has places it sits where I don't love it but this was generally very rousing

06. Victoria - technically probably very good and it got better as it went but I do think it was very meandering up until the midpoint, I wasn't even sure of the song, undeniable vocals though,

07. Max & Harvey - not the right song for them but they did bring some cool to it I thought, it wasn't bad.

08. Kevin - better than this audition but honestly most of it was talking, some of the vocals were there though, great last note.

09. Ricki - actually thought at some points she nailed it, the runs at times were good. But it was inconsistent, other times she was flat or over/under the note. I didn't hate it though.

10. Olivia - this is Louis fault, who would pick that song for her. Her vocal was good at times but the production really left her exposed.

11. TryStar - they saw their audition worked and did a three out of ten imitation of it. Levi's vocals were good, Thom's were dire. It was embarrassing and the whole seat thing was ridiculous.

12. Martin - definitely worse than his audition, embarrassingly poor.

13. Vinnie - just a bit of a joke really, it was shouting, yet a standing O. I feel for him obviously but it was dire.

Posted by: Tombo Oct 31 2019, 08:57 AM

I am so glad that Jenny is back. She should never have been eliminated. She is immensely talented.

No Love Lost were really good.

Megan McKenna's original song was good.

Max & Harvey's rendition of When Will I Be Famous was really good and they breathed fresh life into the song, I don't get why it was criticised.

First week performances I'd rank like this -
1. Megan - by a country mile, she is a star in my eyes
2. Victoria - amazing singer should be in the west end
3. Jenny - really strong but still needs a little bit of work
4. Try Star - really good voices and performance but a little cheesy
5. Jonny - good voice and likeable but wasn't fussed on the song
6. Max and Harvey - decent but forgettable
7. Kevin - great voice but I felt he overdid the song
8. V5 - average, could be growers though
9. No Love Lost - crap song and a little flat, Wes is brill though
10. Olivia - unlikeable and oversinging but not the worst
11. Rikki - flat and boring but could've worked on it
12. Martin - bad voice and forgettable
13. Vinnie - he literally shouted every word

I would say only the top 5 are the only ones I'm interested in. Hoping some people do alot better this week as most of it was crap

Hopefully the Freemasons remix biggrin.gif

But I’d imagine it’s still helping her album out!

Like this is definitely the most press she’s had about her music it’ll certainly be doing her no harm.

I had a look at the streaming figures for week 1 (Can't see Olivia Olson, Max & Harvey and Kevin McHale as they have other songs in their top 5s)

Megan McKenna - 162,697
No Love Lost - 60,372
V5 - 16,479
Jonny Labey - 4,908
Try Star - 3,401
Jenny Ryan - 2,473
Victoria Ekanoye - 1,685
Vinnie Jones - 1,120
Ricki Lake - <1000
Martin Bashir - <1000

Posted by: Calum Nov 2 2019, 07:49 PM

Max & Harvey - 9,021
Kevin McHale - 8,551
Olivia Olson - 2,764

Obviously we're now a week on from the show, but yeah, of course Martin is the person the public want to see/hear more of Simon drama.gif

Vinnie did the same song for his 2002 album Respect

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 2 2019, 09:51 PM

I think Martin Bashir will go straight away.

I think it be between VJ and Max & Harvey as the final 2.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Nov 2 2019, 10:02 PM

Megan was amazing as usual but also enjoyed Kevin , V5 , Victoria and No Love Lost . Vinnie and Martin to go please but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Vinnie safe he has a fan base .

Ranking:

1. Megan McKenna Stunning performance. You can just tell she means every word of what she's singing and can see how badly she wants it.
2. No Love Lost Another fantastic performance! Wasn't as incredible as last week's, but their whole style etc is so on point. My only problem with them is Zara and Eyal are just... there for the ride. Samira and Wes could be a duo and there would be zero difference.
3. Max & Harvey Massive step up from last week. I didn't really like the changes in production on the song itself, but that's no fault of theirs, they smashed it *.*
4. V5 Another great mash-up. I love how confident they appear in their performances and they do seem ready to go as a group with the right material.
5. Victoria Ekanoye Good performance; loved that it was completely different to last week and the vocals were on point. Really hope she makes it through and doesn't get lost.
6. Jonny Labey Completely understand the comments about the Elvis impersonation, but I actually really enjoyed that performance and it was a great, fun way to open the show!
7. Jenny Ryan That was definitely an improvement vocally on last week, but I'm really not getting excited by her performances at all in the same way as the likes of Megan, etc.
8. Kevin McHale That performance really grated on me - couldn't hear him at all during the chorus and the whole thing was pretty bad, but of course Louis gave him a seat, sigh.
9. Try Star Mess
10. Martin Bashir Mess [2]
11. Vinnie Jones Mess [3]

Posted by: Calum Nov 2 2019, 10:30 PM

I kinda saw that coming with Victoria (as did she) - she was slap bang in the middle of all the other acts, so it was inevitable she'd suffer in the vote. So we can blame the public for that. But Simon really has lost it...

Megan is stunning, she actually really reminded me of Delta Goodrem tonight, musically and her image ohmy.gif

In disbelief for Victoria. Bottom of the public vote? She was vocally easily one of the best. Baffling.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 2 2019, 11:02 PM

Martins like the Mike Bushell of this w00t.gif

Vinnie was the worst tonight like but Martin still should’ve gone in the bottom 3 vote. But I just didn’t get Simon tonight first of all insisting Nicole give his act the buzzer over one her own like why give No Love Lost the buzzer then tell every other group he wished he had the seat he clearly doesn’t like them lol then the whole refusing to vote thing. As soon as he said that though I knew Jonny was out but that’s how I’d pegged as winning this. Shocking exit for both Jonny and Victoria I did feel Victoria could’ve been a shock exit at some point though. Jonny had a lot more to give and going on right at the start probably hampered him but then again he didn’t have a public vote last week so it’s hard to test how popular he would’ve been.

The way this is going we are probably looking at V5 in the bottom 3 next week if they don’t get a safe seat. I’d like to think Megan can win this but Vinnies story is probably gaining him a lot of votes. I’d hazard a guess that Megan, Jenny and Vinnie were the top 3 tonight with the public.

Legit question but, which one?! They were all pretty basic or bad.

---

01. Megan McKenna 09.0 > When I saw her a couple of months ago, she dedicated this to her Granddad and gave a speech about how it was a message he had told her right before he died </3 <

02. Kevin McHale 08.5 > Great performance! I can finally listen to that song and not want to rip my ears off <

03. V5 08.0 > They're so under looked, it's ridic. <

04. Victoria 08.0 > Nice that we actually got a performance out of her and it was really good. I just can't see myself ever getting the urge to stream/buy/take an interest in a career for her. But she was 100% robbed <

05. No Love Lost 07.5 > Not quite to the standard of last week, but decent enough! <

06. Max & Harvey 06.0 > So basic. I really want them to do well, but their live show performances have been full of empty potential... Hope they step it up next week! <

07. Johnny Labey 05.5 > YAWN. Who honestly wants a big band version of anything nowadays. <

08. Jenny Ryan 05.0 > Another week and another meh performance. <

09. Try Star 03.5 > Well... they tried? <

10. Martin Bashir 00.5 > Should have just been an instrumental all the way through. <

11. Vinnie Jones -01.0 > JFC. HOW did he manage to be worse than last week!? <

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 3 2019, 12:05 AM

Kevin's studio version of Dance Monkey is much better!

Here for Megan to sing High Heeled Shoes or Far Cry From Love on one of the live shows *.*

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 3 2019, 01:50 AM

Jonjo I didn’t wanna quote your full post laugh.gif but I think Levi can definitely hold a tune. But yeah the other two are there for looks alone. He carried 95% of tonight’s performance.

I wish they’d do the seat thing after everyone’s sung though. Simon was way off it so many times tonight laugh.gif laugh.gif he wouldn’t have stood for it had someone else behaved the way he did. No Love Lost must’ve felt a bit crap given Simon said to Max and Harvey he wished they had it then he pushed so hard to give it to Try Star too. It’s interesting he’s never given it to V5 I guess he’s confident of how their public support is?

He's definitely on the same caliber as those artists you mention.

In terms of this week's show, I would say the performances were less memorable than the first live show. There is nothing I really want to go back and listen to from the performances whereas I have been streaming multiple tracks from the first week.

It is absolutely f***ing ridiculous that Jonny has gone home over Martin. Martin didn't even remember the f***ing words. He does not deserve to be there. Louis Walsh was spot on with his comments.

Simon is either keeping him in to create drama and get people to watch or Martin has some sort of dirt on Simon and he doesn't want it getting out. To be honest, I think it is the former as even Martin seems shocked to still be in.

No Love Lost are amazing and I would definitely stan them as a band if they stay together.

Also, it is dreadful that Nicole kept Try Star in over her own category for the chair. It looked like Louis and Simon were pressuring her into it.

Posted by: Lukuzz Nov 3 2019, 04:13 PM

1. Megan - leagues above anyone else and another amazing song, if anyone else wins over her it'll be a robbery
2. V5 - they really impressed me this week, huge improvement on last week
3. Victoria - not as good as last week purely because they somehow managed to make a relatively modern Beyonce song sound so dated, however she still has the 2nd best voice in the show and by no means should have gone!
4. Max and Harvey - think they improved on last week and sounded good however again x factor have managed to make a new song sound dated
5. Jonny - another improvement on last week imo although I'm not a fan of swing music. Again he should not have went and I was shocked to see him 2nd lowest (expected it from Victoria tbh)
6. Kevin - far better than last week however not a fan of the song and I do find him a bit unlikeable
7. Jenny - I love her but this week sounded off to me, however she still has some talent
8. No Love Lost - preferred them to last week but did think there was ALOT of help from backing vocals and Wes is the only star
9. Try Star - really bad in comparison to last week, did Ben and Thom even sing?
10. Martin - so bad but I was howling throughout it absolute car crash
11. Vinnie - the worst again, does he do anything other than talk or shout the song?

Honestly what a car crash of a show from Nicole's forced save seat to Martin being saved again after his shit performance and 2 of the only people who can actually sing being booted off 🤷🏼‍♂️

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 3 2019, 04:18 PM

Such car crash, outcomes like the last 2 shows is why x factor is just nothing anymore, Simon should have voted Martin off, bottom 2 for 2 weeks, cant sing and forgets the words, what else does he have to do to get the boot and why is Simon saving him. Vinny getting high praise from the judges despite it been a low to average karaoke performance

Posted by: Adam Nov 3 2019, 05:28 PM

Yep it's like Simon sees what makes his show a laughing stock each time and thrives on repeating those things. Either he's doing it on purpose as that's when they get most column inches or he's complete tone deaf as to what made his show work once. It was just a series of embarrassments.

The fact we've lost four acts yet still have the THREE worst ones, when we've had the chance to get rid of one. And never had the chance to even vote one out.

I thought most people were worse than last week. Even Megan who was great was worse. V5 were good but more of the same. Max and Harvey were alright but worse for me. Jonny was worse, really off at the start. NLL got some elements right but there was some definite caterwauling. Jenny was off. Victoria started well but lost steam. Try Star were embarrassing. Martin and Vinnie.... hmmm.

The only actual improvement was Kevin to be honest, he was great.

I would probably stop watching if I wasn't already planning to watch with a friend next week lol. We used to watch XF together at Uni and we adored it. It's a shame what it is now. Even from the auditions it's taken a nosedive.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 3 2019, 09:06 PM

This genuinely would’ve done so much better had it been for charity. I’ve said it before but they can’t plug it as a serious show with the winner getting a recording contract whilst saving Martin Bashir two weeks running against someone who can actually hold a tune.

If this was a regular X Factor season theres only Megan and V5 who would have gotten to the six chair stage of the show never mind the lives.

I don’t see how though - do the public really care the reason for the show, as it wouldn’t have been muchdifferent tonally.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 4 2019, 01:26 AM

Caught up and...... jesus.

01 Megan - not even close, it's so effortless with her and to think she's writing the songs too and has the material ready!
----
02 No Love Lost - idc I love them, this was worse than week 1 but still v good and I think behind Megan they have the most potential commercially.
03 Kevin - shocked at how good this was, such a massive improvement on last week.
04 Victoria - she can do better, this was an odd song choice really but she killed it as much as she could, how on EARTH did she go after that?!
---
05 V5 - they're very put together but this left me a bit cold, I want them to go out of their comfort zone a bit!
06 Jenny - love her obv but she's giving me Tesco Mary vibes with both the styling and this song choice rotf.gif This was fine but I won't really go back to it.
07 Max & Harvey - they're fine but like V5, you know exactly what you're getting every time.
08 Jonny - I mean I'm not a fan but idg how last week Simon was hyping that he set the standard but this time Simon is yapping on about it being karaoke or whatever he said, idk what was different about this?? If anything, if they're looking for an artist he was part way there and knew where he fit in the market, or where he hoped to fit in at least.
09 Try Star - cringe, I mean they're not absolutely shite or anything but I cba with the conveniently timed sentimental rugby tie-in and none of them can sing that well. Decidedly less enjoyable when there's no sex appeal to the performance....
---
10 Martin - at least the car crash was entertaining....
11 Vinnie - they could have honestly gone out onto the street 10 minutes before the show and picked the first person who went by, gave them that song and they could have done that performance - somehow it was even worse than last time. Ik I said this last week, but I struggle to think of many live performances worse than that in the history of the show!

I thought last week was bad enough! I didn't even like Jonny, less than Olivia, but for Simon to throw away a frontrunner in favour of someone who forgot their words and can barely sing a note... It just makes me think that they know the show is losing steam so Simon is just doing whatever will grab attention and headlines, a good old shock/controversial elimination.

It's not even that Martin and Vinnie are so shit as such, it's that one minute they're going on about gaps in the market and being an artist, but they allow both of those to be probably the two worst singers ever to make the live shows without so much as a word! I mean good on them for giving it a go and having fun but it's just making the show beyond a joke. If I was Jonny or Victoria, who both seem to have a genuine passion for music, know where they want to go and pushed for it, I would be absolutely livid! The judges may as well not be there, what with the comments making 0 sense with 0 consistency, Simon abstaining from voting (seriously wtf was that), and Nicole clearly not giving a shit about her own acts and giving a safe seat to Try Star instead.

I know that I won't stop watching though, when shit like this goes on I'm always like "oh let's see how much worse it gets" laugh.gif And tbf I still think it's better than the terminally dull last regular series! It's just so contrived, it's such a shame because to start with this had exactly the right tone and felt like they were gonna get it so right :/ I know they can't help shock voting results, but I think it's probably quite close with low voting numbers (I imagine it's Megan and probably Vinnie quite a way ahead then maybe a couple of others and there's probably not a lot in the bottom ends) so being cynical it feels like it's quite easy for them to throw someone under the bus by knocking them off their perch with the comments they gave Jonny and Victoria!

Posted by: pippa Nov 5 2019, 07:08 PM

The result was just terrible.
Simon seems to want to bury a sinking ship.

I'm still watching because it's easy, leave your brain at the door, stuff. But jesus wept this is tragic.

Martin and Vinnie are beyond dreadful. And I don't know what other people are hearing in Jenny's voice as it's going right through me. She literally shouts like she's dropped her larynx so much that it's giving this weird possessed sound. There's no tuning or melody in there, it's so awful.

What a BANGER from No Love Lost! Looking forward to hearing the studio version later

Posted by: Jason Nov 9 2019, 09:27 PM

No Love Lost definitely my faves tonight! wub.gif

However, i'm predicting they will be in danger tonight and possibly leaving. sad.gif
Well, one of the groups will leave, just hope it's V5 or the other one.

Jenny has ARRIVED

Posted by: Jason Nov 9 2019, 09:28 PM

Screaming doesn't mean you're a great singer Jenny.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Nov 9 2019, 09:29 PM

No Love Lost keep coming with the bangers I actually love them there a bit of a guilty pleasure.

Posted by: dandy* Nov 9 2019, 09:29 PM

Jenny's just fine. She's not someone I'd love to listen to exactly but she's one of the most unlikely people to be on this show and she's really not that bad.

Posted by: Tombo Nov 9 2019, 09:30 PM

‪How amazing singing while crowdsurfing and in all those positions. She really slayed once the track went upbeat and it was nice to hear her on an upbeat track for a change.‬

Great message at the end too! Go Jenny!

Posted by: Calum Nov 9 2019, 09:31 PM

That was the first time I was excited by her performing. All her other performances have been overall 'okay' showcasing good vocals and not much more. That was so much fun though!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 9 2019, 09:41 PM

Who on earth is voting for Try Star over the other 2 groups??

Posted by: Jason Nov 9 2019, 09:41 PM

Hurrah! goodbye Sir Martin

Mums and grandmas find them sexy. laugh.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 9 2019, 09:46 PM

I’m surprised at No Love Lost being bottom 3 but less shocked at Martin and V5.

V5 are least known group and that was always gonna go against them, they should’ve given them the safe seat.

Posted by: Tombo Nov 9 2019, 09:51 PM

Try Star are talented and good looking, I am not surprised they are through.

I like both V5 and No Love Lost so it’s tough thinking who I want to go out of the two of them.

V5 gave a really strong rendition of Juice and No Love Lost are on form too

Posted by: troylovesmusic Nov 9 2019, 09:52 PM

I don’t want to lose either group unsure.gif for god sake this show ! I think one of the Seat seaters might of been in bottom personally if they didn’t get saved . I’m leaning towards Kevin as he was on first and didn’t do that great .

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 9 2019, 09:54 PM

Kevin’s very lucky to have had a seat. He’s had two now hasn’t he.

I’m glad Megan’s managed to get through each week so far based of public votes alone though.

Posted by: Jason Nov 9 2019, 09:55 PM

As if No Love Lost are going home!!! They had actual potential to have something post-show

Posted by: Liаm Nov 9 2019, 09:58 PM

Knew they were going but ffs manson.gif

I'd be fuming if I wrote songs each week, came out and gave it my all yet finish lower than a bloke sailing through on sympathy jumping up and down shouting to ska every week :')

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 9 2019, 09:59 PM

Don't worry they'll be back for the final laugh.gif

Posted by: HauntedHaus Nov 9 2019, 10:01 PM

I'm thinking acts are more likely to have success AWAY from the show so it's probably for the best that they are out. I can actually see them having some middling chart success! V5 too. So can they be out next so they can just focus on their career and not this circus of a show and not be associated with it laugh.gif

Posted by: Calum Nov 9 2019, 10:02 PM

:') at Louis sending them home despite banging on every two seconds about the massive gap in the market for them

and, assuming Try Star, Megan, etc end up not making the final, I can't see No Love Lost coming back, so that change was completely pointless from Simon.

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 9 2019, 10:05 PM

I'm thinking the same one of the acts on the safe seat was probably at the bottom of the votes, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Vinny to be honest, as he wanted to go home. laugh.gif

Watch next week Simon will save V5, I just have a funny feeling there won't be safe seats as from next week.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 9 2019, 10:15 PM

Can't see safe seats back next week, as then there would be just 4 acts for vote for

Posted by: Nick Jonas Nov 9 2019, 10:19 PM

Simon making the rules up as he goes along 🙄

Posted by: Liаm Nov 9 2019, 10:36 PM

Kevin would definitely have been in the bottom I think, being on first and giving a pretty average and certainly forgettable performance. There's no need for safe seats this late on, really there was no need in the first place.

That little shoehorned in "return vote" from Simon is a joke too, it won't be any of the ones who actually deserve it! I bet it ends up getting Vinnie back if we somehow get rid of him prior to the final which I doubt. If not I think it'd be Try Star or Max & Harvey.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 10 2019, 12:52 AM

Martin def has beef with Louis.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 10 2019, 12:57 AM

Posted by: Liаm Nov 10 2019, 01:18 AM

Posted by: RobBob Nov 10 2019, 01:35 AM

It can't just be me being cynical and thinking there's no way those Love Island lot are writing these actually very good songs? laugh.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 10 2019, 03:55 AM

Megan has to win for me, her iTunes success alone says it all.

Posted by: Lukuzz Nov 10 2019, 10:24 AM

If anyone other than Megan wins it'll be a joke.
And wtf is bringing back someone to the final all about. So probably skip a few weeks and then have a chance to win what a joke 😂

Posted by: Jonjo Nov 10 2019, 10:46 AM

What a disappointing show. The best of the night (Megan) was her worst performance on the show to date. In fact my 3 faves (Megan, No Love Lost & V5 could do with switching it up a lil and showcasing something different)

08.0 Megan McKenna > We all know how I feel about her. I want her to win. That song wasn't/isn't as good as her previous weeks. Uptempo next week though plz! I know she can do them! <
07.5 No Love Lost > This was good. Felt a tad "empty" though compared to previous performances of theirs. Something was a bit off this time. Still solid though! <
07.0 V5 > Getting slightly tired of their "mashups" which aren't even mashups. Also bored of them inserting a latin song into every performance. I get that that's where they're from and go them for representing, but I'd rather have them showcase something new. They have a lot of potential though! <
06.5 Kevin McHale > A comedown from last week, but we have an idea of who he wants to be as an artist at least? <
05.0 Jenny Ryan > Ugh. Just see my comments from previous weeks. Powoeful but monotonous etc.. light and shade etc.. Appreciate her for doing something diff though. <
03.0 Try-Star > SO MUCH CRINGE. I- mellow.gif <
00.5 Martin Bashit > Yeah.. no. <
00.0 Vinnie Jones > He just needs to FO <

I low-key think it's def coz they know Vinnie is in trouble each week (hence safe this week - but he'll be eliminated the week or two before the final so he's still fresh enough in the publics minds), but he has a loyal enough following to vote him back in for the final etc.. drama.gif

Posted by: Jαsє Nov 10 2019, 11:43 PM

To win

1/2 Meghan McKenna
11/2 Max and Harvey
10/1 V5
20/1 Jenny Ryan
20/1 Vinnie Jones
33/1 Try Star
66/1 Kevin McHale

I agree, it's just car crash really. Unless the new group x factor picks up in ratings id say x factor will be put to bed for a while.a break would do it good.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 16 2019, 01:00 PM

The final is November 30 which directly clashes with Strictly, they're just asking for it to continually bomb! laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 16 2019, 02:15 PM

Tonight's song choices:

Jenny Ryan: Euphoria
Kevin McHale: I Feel Love
Max and Harvey: High Hopes
Megan McKenna: When I'm Crying
Try Star: Boom
V5: Bang Bang
Vinnie Jones: I Fought The Law / Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

Any predictions for what 'Boom' song that is? laugh.gif

I grew up listening to 80s music, and Vinny's performance of them is making them a mockery to listen to, Bad Manners, Madness and now The Clash, whatever next, I think he should go tonight.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 16 2019, 09:12 PM

I wish she'd sing an uptempo like Odds from her album, but she's really in a whole different universe to the others!

Vinny Jones cannot sing, what are the judges hearing.

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 16 2019, 09:21 PM

From what I've heard so far, I think Kevin and Vinny are in danger of leaving, I would even chuck Max & Harvey in the bottom 3, but they seem to have a huge fan base following.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 16 2019, 11:03 PM

Each week his vote is just crazy, maybe he is thinking the shock eliminations will get more headline but its turning viewers off,

Posted by: Mack. Nov 16 2019, 11:03 PM

To be fair, Vinnie wanted to go home and knew that Kevin is a far better singer than him. I wouldn't be surprised if Vinnie pulled out. That was a joke from Simon.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 16 2019, 11:09 PM

I don't blame vinnie, he was thinking what the rest of us were.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 16 2019, 11:10 PM

Jesus f***ing christ rotf.gif

I mean this series is BAD but that..... I mean it's not even about the fact Vinnie is the worst contestant to "grace" the stage, the fact they had the nerve to do a SING off and Kevin performed like that, Vinnie literally ASKED TO GO and Simon still had to f*** it up. I don't know how he can sit there and prattle on that you "have to want to win" and how x and y could be recording artists, then go all out to keep someone who cannot sing a note.

I mean Simon must be either trying to sabotage the show, or he knows it's past its best and is trying the only way he knows how to claw at getting headlines and a bit of attention, by causing the biggest stir possible with the most random results. I mean, it was 100% the right bottom 2 for once as both were awful in the main show, but Kevin absolutely slayed the sing off. That's the whole point, you give it your all when it matters and you're safe. I knew Vinny was staying when Simon had to seize control though. What I don't get is, if Vinny wants to go, can he not just go? He could have gone at any point in the last few weeks if he wanted to, nobody is holding a gun to his head and making him perform! I'd be absolutely fuming if I was say Kevin, Jonny or Victoria who seem to want this chance with every bone in their body, and are cast aside while Vinnie is allowed to keep on.

It just makes a complete mockery of it all, the show is beyond a joke.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 17 2019, 01:17 AM

I agree Liam. I do feel like Simon has just been trying to get headlines and shock results are his way of doing so.

It’s shocking how this series has went though’ I didn’t have much expectation but pretty much every week we’ve lost someone who can sing whilst the joke act is still there. If someone is literally saying send me home too just let him go! I mean neither are gonna slay the music world but I could see Kevin having success in theatre

Posted by: Jonjo Nov 17 2019, 07:35 AM

Idk, maybe the cynic in me is coming out but... why do I feel that Vinnie saying he wanted to go all staged and to get sympathy from viewers? Lol. Like, they'll think "aww it's not his fault. What a lovely chap/geezer" etc.. putting him in line for stronger support next week? Why doesn't he just throw a curveball and quit? I'd personally respect him far more if he did that.

Posted by: Sabrina. Nov 17 2019, 07:44 AM

Everything about this series has been a shambles. Simon is so out of touch, it is hilarious and yep it is clear he’s only here trying to make headlines now. However, I think the show would have more viewers and be respected if he kept the best singer rather than try do what he thinks the public want to see.

Posted by: TomHo Nov 17 2019, 10:28 AM

Wow, we had some phenomenal performances this week. It was tough to see Kevin to go but there are a lot of strong competitors left in the competition.

Here are my thoughts on the act this week.

Kevin: Absolutely amazing rendition of I Feel Love, this is one of his strongest performances yet. Go Artie!

Max & Harvey: The completely slayed as per usual, well done lads!

Jenny: Amazing performance and I'm so happy she's through

Megan: Another well written song from her, well done

Vinnie: I found his initial perforance qutie shouty rather than singy but his sing off performance showed off his vocals in a better light

V5: I love a bit of Jessie J so well done to them and it's good they avoided the sing off after being in it last week.

Try Star: Absolutely phenomenal! They delivered a winning performance this week and the song was incredible. I want them to win. They are amazing and super talented. Well done lads!

Very true! Ngl you're probably right, because legit who is stopping him from going if he really does want to? I saw a few people like "aw I feel sorry for him he doesn't want to be there" but he's a grown man who can just leave if he hates it that much. He could have protested or just walked off and refused to stay. If it was me, I'd feel awful that I was still there when I didn't want the record contract etc., seeing so many talented people who want it so badly go.

Sad thing I think it'll work, he's gonna get the rebound vote to the final and even if by some miracle he does go, I bet he gets the wildcard thing Simon randomly added in when No Love Lost went laugh.gif

I would have respected him more aswell if he did quit plus it would show that he is thinking like the rest of us. The falling ratings are no surprise, nowadays I record it and skip through most it as I don't think I could sit and watch it in full, there was a time and a long time where the show excited me and now I'm like oh whatever.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 17 2019, 01:43 PM

It's out of habit more that I watch it, and the fact that it's usually on after Strictly when I've got the telly on anyway so I just carry on because there's not really anything else on laugh.gif And part of me wants to keep going just to see how bad it gets in a way.

I think next week it's gonna clash with Strictly more so I'm A Celeb doesn't come on at gone 10 and I shan't bother then. The final clashes for an hour too so actually I think it might go sub 2 million (maybe not with its peak after Strictly but still).

Posted by: dandy* Nov 17 2019, 02:36 PM

We're one of the households that has switched off. I usually tolerate this show because Mr D* likes it so much but I really can't with this one.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 17 2019, 03:18 PM

2.5m is shocking!!! I never thought it would ever get to a level like that!

Megan’s CBB series probably got more viewers or as many than that and that shows no longer on air laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 17 2019, 03:56 PM

To be fair, 6.5 million was consolidated data (including +1 and catch up) IIRC.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 17 2019, 03:58 PM

May well be even lower next week with Michael McIntyre's Big Show returning!

Posted by: troylovesmusic Nov 17 2019, 04:53 PM

I’m not really one to obsess over or look at ratings that much but god that drop is terrible and tbh it’s well deserved . The series had a lot of promise but was ruined once again (mainly by Simon).

Posted by: Liаm Nov 17 2019, 07:25 PM

2.5m is indeed lower than that series of CBB, that had a series average of 2.8m with a lot of episodes being the high range of 2m or low 3m. I'm the same Troy I'm normally not fussed about ratings but you can't deny when it gets this bad!!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 17 2019, 08:24 PM

X Factor in general really needs a break tbh.

The average ratings for The Band version will probably be around the same as what we got last night as well. It’s shocking how they’ve dropped though! I’m genuinely really shocked it’s got to the 2m mark. Simon is really out of touch too I don’t know what he’s thinking but it’s just like really laugh.gif .

I’m almost watching out of habit rather than enjoyment when this used to be show I’d watch with my full attention I’m now scrolling on my phone and chatting away when it’s on. I’ll probably not watch the Band series but I’ll likely stick with this one till the end and make this my last series unless it goes off air for 3 years and returns back with a fresh current panel and no celebs or they just make the format more back to basics and base it off talent. Like even on normal X factor we had some stupid deadlock like decisions like Jedward and Rylan overstaying their welcome and being saved over genuinely good singers but when someone literally asks to go and they keep them over someone who’s actually taking it seriously it’s a bit of a joke. Vinnie going on to win might just be what the show needs to wake the judges mainly Simon up at wtf they’ve been doing. Megan is my favourite but I really feel like her being runner up will do her better.

It's a crap show. It's a huge fix and just not very good.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Nov 17 2019, 09:10 PM

Vinnie wont win but if he did and the single totally flops they might take some notice.

Just caught up, and I'm so laugh.gif at the state of it all. I was never a fan of Kevin, but that sing-off performance was by far the best he's done to date, and it looked like Dermot was prepared to accept Vinnie standing down and that be the end of it lmao

I actually quite enjoyed Try Star's performance this week too lol, but like Liam said earlier there really was no need for them to be shirtless and wet. I kinda assumed they'd do that at some point though when they could be in danger of leaving.

1. Max & Harvey
2. Jenny Ryan
3. Megan McKenna
4. V5
5. Try Star
6. Kevin McHale
7. Vinnie Jones

I got excited seeing #LoveOnTour2020 trending on Twitter.

I was disappointed to discover it was Harry Styles rather than No Love Lost 😂😂

Try Star: Absolutely phenomenal! They delivered a winning performance this week and the song was incredible. I want them to win. They are amazing and super talented. Well done lads!

Wow, obviously different strokes for different folks haha. I honestly think this was one of the most cringeworthy performances to ever hit the X Factor stage. Obv doesn't help that I thought the song was generic shite whereas you liked it but the vocals were SO weak and the dancing.. the dancing!!! they were literally doing it at entirely different times! It honestly made my skin crawl how embarrassing the whole thing was. Thank god they stripped, saving grace.
I've found them unpalatable since their audition tbh but the whole original song thing just ramped it up, they did noooooot suit it in the way No Love Lost did.

It's Movie Week on tomorrow's show

Posted by: Liаm Nov 22 2019, 02:14 PM

Megan singing a cover will be interesting, I wonder if she'll finally do an uptempo! I also hope they don't give Jenny the obvious Bond theme, she's been so much better doing bangers the last two weeks.

Posted by: troylovesmusic Nov 22 2019, 02:53 PM

I think Megan just needs to switch it up a bit and show she can be versatile then she has this in the bag !

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 22 2019, 08:10 PM

Tomorrow's song choices:

Jenny Ryan: Skyfall
Max & Harvey: Kiss You
Megan McKenna: Must Have Been Love
Try Star: The Greatest Show
Vinnie Jones: (I've Had) The Time Of My Life
V5: September

Guessing M&H's is 1D's Kiss You - but what film was it used in?

Posted by: Liаm Nov 22 2019, 09:30 PM

Probably their concert tour film thing I guess? laugh.gif

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 23 2019, 02:22 PM

The phone votes return for the semi and final.

Posted by: Jonjo Nov 23 2019, 02:27 PM

Gah. Can Megan change her choice to There You'll Be plz? X

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 23 2019, 06:03 PM

I’m not watching this live tonight as it’s clashing with Strictly laugh.gif

Whoever is on at the start of the show is at a big disadvantage this week. By rights Megan should open shouldn’t she as she’s nearly always on towards the end. Max and Harvey, Try Star and Megan for top 3 I’m thinking is what we could get.

Posted by: TomHo Nov 23 2019, 07:47 PM

What a way to start the show! A great opening from Try Star!

Posted by: JosephStyles Nov 23 2019, 07:52 PM

Not Simon praising the vocals when they were all over the goddamn shop

Posted by: TomHo Nov 23 2019, 07:55 PM

Lol it’s a mess that they’ve got rid of the wildcard position for the final but they never should have brought it in anyway lol

Posted by: WhoOdyssey Nov 23 2019, 08:31 PM

Corr that backing dance group are getting some usage tonight laugh.gif

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 23 2019, 08:39 PM

Bit of a car crash tonight, Megan's performance was the best performance of the night.

Vinny killed a classic hopefully that's the last of him.

V5 could have done better.

Vinny and Jenny / TryStar to go tonight.

Posted by: TomHo Nov 23 2019, 08:47 PM

Vinnie has definitely got to go tonight. His vocals were awful.

I voted for Jenny and Try Star smile.gif

I think I’d like V5 to go leaving Jenny, Try Star, Max and Harvey and Megan for the final.

Posted by: Mart!n Nov 23 2019, 08:54 PM

RESULT cheer.gif

Posted by: TomHo Nov 23 2019, 09:03 PM

It’s a shame to see Try Star go. I think V5 were better in the sing off tbh but I did prefer Try Star overall.

Hopefully they can have a recording career anyway.
