Neither Courtney nor Willam nor Pearl will be in any future All Stars because they are basically unofficially blacklisted by Ru due some beef~

I didn't get the winner I wanted (Trinity), I didn't get the runner up I wanted (Shea). That aside - I disagree with you guys and think it was the best finale I've EVER watched. I remember watching the final live as it aired in the USA last year and me & my ex just spent most of it playing with another because it was so boring. This was such an event of the final - so what if we didn't get the winner we wanted?! That was a FINAL. Every lip sync had a gasp moment and Sasha deserved it on the night.

I feel for Shea though, disposed of so easily when she would've walked any other series. But, seriously, wow @ the format and I'd welcome its return next year. That said, if there's any way that can possibly help try and keep leaks from coming out, it'd be great because it was near on impossible to avoid spoilers.

no sexing during the RPDR finale. that's like the #1 gay rule!!!

agree tho. I LOVED this format. it didn't feel TOO rushed despite the time constraints as well. so glad they moved the congeniality part and the interviews to the reunion. this now focuses on the top 4 queens which is good!

my bf got spoiled about the winner on some completely unrelated website after it aired and before we were able to watch the episode. Sasha was his favourite from day one. after the past couple of weeks i also joined #teamsasha because Shea just became a bit predictable and boring. she slayed the first challenges and the acting/comedy ones are my favourites so it seemed like an easy pick. couldn't let myself root for Peppermint to win and Trinity, although occasionally hilarious, has never grown on me that much. sasha was never boring and always consistent and this is why she is the clear winner to me out of that Top 4.

that peppermint reveal in the first lip sync had me GAGGING. SO well-timed. If Trinity did hers at the same time she could've snatched it because she was leading all the way until that last 30 seconds.

can i just defend Sasha and her 'cute gimmicks'? she clearly put emotion into her performances and I'm sure the rose petals had some deeper meaning and not just 'oh look let me pour roses out of my wig lol' (i'm not good at deciphering them so won't even try oops). this is the thing. you gotta have people remember you, gotta make that impact. various acrobatic stunts and splits etc. are also basically 'gimmicks' if you think about it but nobody criticises queens who do it (apart from the time it's overdone and inappropriate for the song *cough* milan). so if you can't or choose to not rely on your sex appeal, aren't flexible then ideas and 'gimmicks' like that are just as powerful and VALID as anything else.

exactly - props in a performance??? what's wrong with that? it's almost as if anything impressive in a lipsync that isn't just standing and lipsyncing the words is a gimmick lmao

it wasn't even inappropriately used in sasha's case - so emotional with a beauty and the beast / he loves me, he loves me not rose petal theme works

The roses were a lovely addition and it upsets me that people see it as a gimmick. She does her drag bald as a homage to her mother who died of cancer, so that wig coming off and "bleeding" beautiful roses showed that there is beauty to be found in her mother's illness and passing.

I found the finale so high-octane and gripping. I've only seen the finales of S4 and S5 previously and they're so TAME with the contestants not having to give one last final push so I welcomed the lip syncs. I don't think so much weight should be put on them and more should be put on the series as a whole but either with that I think Sasha was a worthy winner. Was rooting for Trinity but Sasha did good.

I love the Beauty and the Beast connotations too!

That's the thing, it's not a performance, it's a lip sync (what part of that do you not understand laugh.gif ) It's not 'perform for the crown'.
I know over the years, the format has extended to allow for the wig snatching and the likes but the main focus is to lip sync the song.

I'm not even mad about Sasha, I made my comment when I'd seen Peppermint win over Trinity which was b u l l.
Peppermint won because of her dress, not the actual lip sync and it was a shock because Peppermint's 'Music' lip sync is one of my all-time favourites.
Despite the acrobatics and the reveal, Trinity's lip sync was better. Peppermint was all arms and you could see she was nervously just waiting for the 'reveal'.

I don't begrudge Sasha the crown, I can really get behind her as a winner. I think she's interesting and she stands out amongst the other winners.
It's not as if she hadn't performed well throughout the season, she was clean, polished, well thought out and acted her ass off.

my comment was by no means directed at you, it's more the response to everyone in the reddit / RPDR world saying that they don't like 'gimmicks' in a performance in general - back to alaska in all stars as well etc.

although i'll be honest i don't really understand your first statement, lip sync and performance are not really exclusive of each other, it is a lip sync performance (i think ru's even used that phrase before), lip sync would fall under the category of performance as a blanket term just like a dancing performance etc, and plus if we were to focus on just a lip sync itself then we'd need to strip dancing out too etc

i do think sasha won the lipsync for so emotional even without gimmicks tbh but shea didn't get a lot of airtime in that performance (sad.gif) which might make me think that

i do absolutely agree that trinity won that first lipsync hands down but i think ru didn't go for it because trinity vs. sasha may have lead to trinity outshining, i think ru rly wanted a sasha win

I loved Sasha's helmet and outfit in the final lipsync and how it came apart. MONEY. So good. I preferred that to the roses tbh.

Oh, I know! I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to look like a rant at you. I was just elaborating further on my points because I didn't yesterday.

I think lip sync and performance are exclusive in this sense, though. If you were allowed to just 'perform' then Ru wouldn't have had an issue with Valentina just dancing.
Ru wants to see you lip sync the song and how you style it out (and most queens don't use 'props').
My point was that if Peppermint didn't have the dress reveal, she'd have lost the lip sync.. and yet, the dress has nothing to do with lip syncing. I'm just super bitter that Peppermint got top 2 laugh.gif

I do understand your point. Overall, lip sync could fall under the blanket term of performance but, to me, this is a specific type of performance.

I completely agree that Sasha won her lip sync before the 'gimmick' too. I've seen Shea lip sync videos outside of Drag Race and I wouldn't say she was particularly good at it.

Yeah, I know only Rob agreed with me but I really still do stand by that Shea wasn't particularly good on Cool For The Summer either.

at the end of the day lip sync (within RPDR at least) absolutely needs to have elements of show. one may argue that chi chi won that 'and i am telling you' lip sync without any props (and she certainly did!) but the performance is also remembered by the jewelry malfunction which could count as a prop, even if none of that was planned. it's just part of the deal. if they put each queen in a 4 square meter circle which they are not allowed to step out of or use any props throughout, the show would probably end in season 3. and peppermint's reveal while not exactly super in line with the song and the lyrics was so effective visually and did the job.

I'm not saying that they have to stand still, I even said that Peppermints dancing and how she acted in the 'Music' lip sync is amongst my favourite EVER. That's because she used the music and werked the lip sync. Had she done something like that on the finale along with the dress then I would have had absolutely nothing to say. It's when they rely on gimmicks to make it memorable.

For me, the reason it was the correct decision is two fold: 1) Trinity was good.. but she looked really similar to how she did in her LAST Britney lip sync, she dropped to her knees in the same way, she did the same forward roll. It was strong, and she was beating Pep, but it was a repeat. Coupled with 2) the absolute GAG of Pep's reveal - surely the strongest of all time, I literally screamed - which was strong enough to shoot her into the lead and take it. It wasn't even a question for me, she stole the scene in that there moment even if she wasn't the most consistent all song.

Sasha.. not my preferred winner, and in fact my fourth preference, but she killed it on the night and her track record, especially that outside of her wins when she was nearly always high - made her deserving. I do think Shea was being really on point in her response to the music but Sasha was superb during So Emotional.

The final lip sync was closer, both were really strong throughout, but I can see why it went to Sasha. It might be flawed but what is exciting about it is it means the winner can't be predicted based on stats - weren't we all saying 'oh we know Shea will win, she has four wins' as if it'd be boring? Well, they didn't serve you that.. a really exciting finale!

I've just watched the final now and for me I think this was my preferred top 2 and my preferred winner. I absolutely love Sasha during the final, both her performances gave me LIFE. I actually think Peppermint's fit with Stronger and the theme of the song in a way. It felt like a real moment for the climax of the song and I thought that her performance after the reveal became more powerful, or 'Stronger' if you will. So she was literally 'stronger than yesterday'

This is the first season I've actually watched in full, I've seen bits and pieces from others, and I really really enjoyed it.
