It's likely to be a short term residency as others have mentioned. I can't see major financial backing unless there's a guaranteed return. I really know little or nothing about BSB so unable to comment on the quality of their music etc. However, TT always put on extravagant productions which require extensive outlay, so I'm wondering if the band will take responsibility for some of the cost of the staging?
I imagine that BSB have a significant advantage over TT because they're American and have achieved success there; whereas TT are essentially unknown in the US. Whilst Gary's received some recognition due to FN he doesn't have a wide fan base and TT will struggle to pull in the crowds, although I do think that UK tourists may keep the show afloat for a short period of time. After that TT will need exceptional publicity and word of mouth to sustain a longer run. However, at this stage in their career I guess it's a case of : 'nothing ventured, nothing gained.'

Dylandog - if you know any of BSB's songs during the 90s, that's about it about them and that's what's gonna draw people into seeing them. They have been releasing new material since their comeback, but nothing of significance. I've tried listening to their new songs and, to me, they're stuck at the same age as they were in the 90s, unlike TT who have managed to produce mature music since 2005.
BSB have been touring extensively with NKOTB - that should tell you all about the quality of their music tongue.gif

As for the Vegas shows, unfortunately, you're right and they do have the advantage of being American over TT sad.gif I'm still hoping good taste will prevail, but I don't hold my breath, cause I've seen what most people prefer nowadays.

Much of the Backstreet Boys back catalogue in my belief has not aged well, their new material is forgettable. Based on musical quality Take That could put on a better show but in America their songs are not as well known which leaves them at a huge disadvantage.

I wonder if this is still an actual thing or if it was simply a news story for bored publications. I think an album is coming end of year and then 2017 the greatest hits is that still the plan?
Backstreet Boys are apparently going to start a 9 night run with hopes of becoming a full Las Vegas residency.

I know that this has died down in favour of the Greatest Hits and World Tour which I completely think is the right thing for them to do and about time. I hope they still do a residency in Las Vegas in the future as it would be absolutely perfect for Take That and truly fitting for them and their songs. The ultimate validation in some ways.
I think word of mouth would be quick and strong not to mention all the Brit tourists etc.

The World Tour is next year though I hope this still comes along at some point as it was a very exciting prospect for many of their fans.

Strange that it has gone so quiet on this front. I agree, the American element of the world tour would work perfectly for this
