Yes, it will be interesting to see how the ballad will be received as a single. I would normally say ballads don't work anymore in the charts but Ed's Perfect sure proved that it can work.

It doesn't necessarily work this way.. If Ed and Westlife released the same song Ed's release would sell 10 times more. And I doubt Perfect would reach the Top 10 if Westlife had released it instead...

This is true of course and that can be said by any song of popular singers these days, whether its from Ed or Ariana Grande. But at the same time, it can't be denied Perfect was a gigantic hit for Ed, even bigger than Castle on The Hill and Shape of You, it probably became THE wedding song for many people.

Thats great! I honestly never expected the single to have such a great result on Spotify. And its all done without any promo, they really should feel happy and proud of this.

They have done promo tho? It’s also high on HHUK.

They have done tv promo in the first 2 weeks - they had 2 live performances on Graham Norton show and NTV Awards. Not much else as far as I know, only a few radio interviews but that was also during the first 2 weeks.

So therefore they have had plenty of promo kink.gif

How is that plenty? Only 2 TV performances and these radio interviews were not that big and there they actually promoted their tour more, not the single. Radio 1 never plays them, thankfully they have the support from Radio 2.

Besides, I mean that the single is steady despite having a promo more than a month ago - Westlife's singles usually drop out of the chart rather quickly so this is a nice change.

it's 2019, the charts are dictated by Spotify not iTunes, that's why they are holding on, Spotify doesn't depend on promo but on playlists
their label has paid to have them high on HH, and that's why it's holding up
pure and simple

New Kids on The Block have a new song Boys In The Band, like an homage to boyband. They even mentioned Westlife biggrin.gif

Anyway, Westlife are at #11 in Ireland and #32 in UK this week.

It will be interesting to see how the second single gets on, especially if it is truer to a perception of a Westlife single. Which reminds me...had Spotify on one of my Daily Mixes today, which I almost never do. I begrudged it as a Westlife hating 10 year old as I was back in 1999, but 'Flying Without Wings' is actually quite a magnificent single, isn't it? It's not hard to draw parallels between that and say Ed Sheeran's own 'Perfect' - Steve Mac working on both might have something to do with it. Especially when Mark goes for that warbly high bit at the end.

Mark just said second single will be out by the end of March, third single sometime in August. Album on September 14.

For me, if album will be released on October or November we might get the fourth single the week before the album release and if we're very lucky we will get promotional singles or fifth or even sixth at the same day week of the album release.

I believe the reason why we don't get enough TV promos compared to before is because they will bring it on the album release week, the most important week. They don't want the public to get tired of them by the end of the year on that most important week.

I am hoping NKOTB will get more attention than the OK jobros sucker right now but I guess they don't have Republic Universal on their backs.

Westlife and Jonas were the last two standing groups in the MTV battle of the boybands back in 2012. 70 plus percent versus more or less 30 percent were the results.

And I was thinking after the album release maybe another single will be released maybe for Christmas, song from the album or a new track or with the duet like Against All Odds in the 2000. So many possibilities. we are so blessed.

Nothing wrong with it. Everything now is faster compared to 10 yr ago. I remember when they uploaded the MV of What About now in 09, Kian was happy in an interview when the bid reached 1 million views a month later. 10 yes later they have hello my Love with 10 million views with only a month later. I think what that aim right now is to break in the streaming and to have the numbers going. They keep on uploading their old tracks on YouTube almost everyday and it's being backed by the record label. Louis just said he knows there will be craving for their massive back catalogue
