Just thought I'd see what you all believe is Kylie's most underrated single. She has so many, it's natural some will get less appreciation than others, but which songs deserve more than they get?
My picks (as someone who's mostly here for Spinning Around onwards): - 2 Hearts - this gets a very hard time imo, but it's one of my absolute favourites of hers and was the first song that made me like Kylie! - Get Outta My Way - it gets a positive reception on here from what I've noticed but the public paid it dust another big favourite of mine and possibly the Kylie song I return to the most these days. - Timebomb - deserved more from the off, a huge track! |

The ones that spring to mind straight away:
Breathe (joins 'Confide In Me' and 'Slow' to complete my top 3 Kylie songs ever, so perfect) Put Yourself In My Place (feel this gem is relatively forgotten by general public) Finer Feelings (the chorus is so good - really should be far better known. one of her best from her early career) Where Is The Feeling? (the video version rather than the album version - experimental moody-90's house Kylie had arrived) Chocolate (so f***ing good and doesn't deserve the hate it gets) Your Disco Needs You (the gay anthem) The One (definitely underrated outside the fandom - the #37 peak still haunts me) |

Did It Again (My favourite from the Immpossible Princess era, just love it and it's always forgotten)
Put Yourself In My Place (Well regarded among the fanbase, but it's such a soaring ballad) Giving You Up (Such a perfect pop song, gets paid dust generally) I would have said 'Get Outta My Way' and 'Timebomb' but they seem quite appreciated within the fanbase and I always hear them on nights out (gay nights of course). They did definitely deserve better though chartwise. |

Breathe and Flower come to mind for me. Flower is a beautiful ballad with meaning.

Come Into My World ~ I barely see any love for it which is a shame because I utterly adore it and the video is up their as one of her best imo.

I never paid any attention to 'Finer Feelings' until the gorgeous Abbey Road version came along. I'd still rate that version much higher, but it did allow me appreciate the original much more. As Davidson said, it has a solid chorus and seems to be the first hint at the more mature, slightly experimental sounds of the De-con era.
'Put Yourself in My Place' definitely has its fans here but I think most people focus on 'Confide in Me'. Really dreamy production and Kylie works her vocals well. 'Please Stay' is the song I've probably been most guilty of underrating or overlooking in the past. Being surrounded by the likes of 'Spinning Around', 'On a Night Like This', 'Head', 'In Your Eyes' and 'Love at First Sight', I'd always find myself returning to those and rated them as some of my all-time favourite Kylie songs. They still are, but 'Please Stay' is one I give much more credit to nowadays. The Latin sound and the melancholy vibe creates a lush little atmosphere and Kylie's vocals suit it perfectly. Also agreed about 'Chocolate' and 'Giving You Up'. I think both suffer from the preceding singles receiving a lot of attention and they end up getting sidelined. The last time I listened to Ultimate Kylie (earlier this year), I really noticed what a solid pop song it is. The Impossible Princess era and glittery pop-dance gems like 'Your Disco Needs You', 'The One' and 'Get Outta My Way' are all sadly unknown to the public but they certainly get the recognition they deserve by Kylie fans, so definitely not underrated in that sense. |

Put Yourself In My Place was the first one that came to mind, so pleased that others in this thread think so too.
My second choice would be If You Were With Me Now. I know it went top 10 but seems to be forgotten now, and doesn't get much of a mention in Kylie fan circles. It remains my fav Kylie duet. Thirdly ...Where The Wild Roses Grow. A fan favourite surely , but I think deserved more love from Joe Public . And my fav Kylie song of all is the non single Where in The World, and I seem to be the only who remembers it. |

From a public perspective
- Did it again (love this!!) - Where the wild roses grow (such a different song for Kylie!) - Please stay (deserved so much more it rounds off a perfect run of singles easily her best album campaign worth of singles ) - Get out of my way and Timebomb (if they had been released during earlier Kylie eras they would have been huge hits) - Wouldn’t change a thing (although successful at the time largely forgotten and I adore it, my favourite single from the 80’s Kylie) |

Time bomb ( should've been the comeback single and lead from Kiss me once instead of the lame Into theBlue)
The One (should've been top 5 at least) Flower (such an underrated classic) Better than today ( deserves top 10 at least) |

Flower is definitely right up there, really strong song from her.
Breathe, which i always say in these threads is hugely under rated despite been a very strong song in my opinion. As i see it listed, i also agree On Where the wild roses grow, its a brill song that should have been a huge huge hit. |

Confide in me - I know it’s an obvious choice but it’s such an amazing song and deserved to be far more successful than it actually was!
Put yourself in my place - A brilliant gem that’s narrowly missed the top 10. Into the blue - missed the top 10 but great pop song and best song on KMO. Fails to get the recognition it deserves! This post has been edited by slowdown73: 7th November 2017, 01:07 AM |
