Hi Joseph!

Only heard 'Drag Me Down' a couple of times - the live version on YouTube and on radio this morning - but it really doesn't sound like a #1 to me. Whether that's because I've not heard it enough and we're just not used to seeing On Air/On Sale releases going to #1, but I feel like One Direction have been improving with each album campaign and this is like a regress. Still, it seems like all the media interest in the band right now, mostly on negative things/things that are made to appear negative, haven't had a bad effect at all!

When I first heard 'She's Kinda Hot', I really couldn't see the appeal in it; just seemed so bland. But it's grown on me so much more than I could ever imagine - in fact, it's in my upcoming personal chart! I feel like I've already heard the melody, as if its been taken straight out of ~2004, but its still very catchy and it's nice to see the band releasing something that actually resembles pop punk, since that's the sound they've claimed to have been going for.

I must admit, it doesn't sound like a #1 to me either, but I won't complain because I think it's really good nonetheless (and as far as lead singles go, I prefer it to Steal My Girl at least). I think it's a great new direction for them actually and it most certainly shows that Zayn leaving hasn't affected the music, unlike many groups when a member leaves!

I agree that She's Kinda Hot does have a kind of throwback sound to it, and it's a good thing imo because there's no-one doing this sound right now (at least, no-one mainstream) so it sets them apart from 1D and The Vamps. I'm shocked it's done quite so badly chart-wise but I guess OA/OS isn't brilliant for artists like them. Hopefully it can grab another top 40 week with the EP release!
