My criticism is for the format - it's a 2-star show (so far) and everyone else is a temporary guest so however beautifully they introduce the guest characters, it's wham! bam! thank you ma'am and place your bets on how they will die If you don't show SOME characters surviving there's no suspense.

I do agree - it feels like there is one main story with individual and temporary side stories...

I didn't feel much for episode 5, I did a bit but not as much as I feel like I should have done given how it panned out. The episode was enjoyable but it seemed to spend a long time developing things just for it all to be torn down really quickly. At the moment I feel like episode 6 is beginning and episode 5 may as well not have happened. I feel like I need to see some more of that direct impact on the main characters that Rooney infers and I hope that will come next week.

Having said that, I am enjoying it a lot - it's more that I'm nitpicking on things that could be better rather than fundamental flaws.

I'm enjoying the briskness! I feel like The Walking Dead for instance would have dedicated an entire 22 episode season to the conflict with Kathleen. kink.gif

Similar to what Popchartfreak says above, EVERYTHING that appears has pay off. The decisions characters make or their impacts on Joel/Ellie, all develop their characters. The deaths show the world is brutal and will all make sense when the end credits close if the tv show ends the exact way the game does (which I would hope, as the ending is perfect).

In the game you play through as Joel and Ellie only, whereas in the TV show some of the secondary characters allow their arcs to be flushed out a lot more.

!!!

It probably would! laugh.gif

I didn't realise we only has doue episodes left, so it makes sense that they truncated rhe Sam/ Henry storyline.

The series could have done with being a bit longer tbh, and it's not often that I say that!

Inevitable Season 2 spoiler here.. they switched to Jackson I'm assuming for set purposes and TV logisitics. And the tease of Dina there too for Season 2.

Judging from the trailer for ep 7, going to assume ep 7 is mostly a flashback building Ellie's story and Riley, probably ending with teasing David/Joel being alive. Ep 8 David & Joel probably going full psycho. Ep 9 Salt Lake City and the hospital.

Think we're definitely going to get the giraffe scene too in ep 9.

Last episode kinda felt like a dud for me, I thought Joey seeing Bobby would be a lot more dramatic. Especially compared to how epic the other episodes have been, the ending was great though.

Same it was kinda random how they left, must be something we don’t know. Would love a prequel episode of what happened soon after the outbreak!

The game is massive, they're going to have to do it over 2 seasons and build up Abby.

Makes sense as there's loads of things they can flesh out and develop and leave Season 2 with Ellie setting off to Seattle.

Druckman has come out and said they wouldn't do a Game of Thrones and go ahead of the games and based off everything Part III is probably in development but likely 3-5 years away. So it makes sense to me to do it that way, otherwise there is a lot to cover in 10 hours.

They did a great job of incorporating the DLC in to the story, I really enjoyed the episode too, although toned down a lot from the game.

There’s SO much of the game to cover in the final 2 episodes.. not sure how they’re going to cover it. And surely it will end on the game ending.

Yeh this weeks episode reminded me of episode 3 but not as long. I loved how the built the tension with the inevitable ending!
