It had to happen sometime, somewhere to post them in, as they seem to be in every topic going. Also it can be used as a discussion thread on the whole subject.
I must admit they are beginning to be a pain in the arse lately, especially with newer albums, on the plus side its higher sales, but can be annoying seeing the likes of Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith dominating the top 5 week on week.
I like the idea of purchasing an album for 99p, it could benefit artists to get higher peaks in the album charts but in this instance keep Ed Sheeran & Sam Smith top 3 for as many weeks as possible.
I think it could be a good idea for artists who are struggling to get top 10 that week. If Tove Lo manages to sell her album for 99p for one day next week I'm sure that would ensure that she got a very high peak as it always manages to shift a couple of hundred / thousand copies.
Froot to be 99p please. I loved the effect the offer had on Charli's Sucker.
It's creating a double edged sword - Its artificially boosting sales and peak positions but on the other hand it's for me at least preventing sales - Until the promotion is over I'm holding out for certain albums that I want in case they are added to the 99p promo, Also as they have run this offer a few times now people quickly become accustomed to the price point and are reluctant to then pay £9.99....
I'm expecting the following albums to be decreased for a day or so
Meghan Trainor - Title
Hozier - Hozier
Sia - 1000 Forms Of Fear
Fall Out Boy American Beauty / American Psycho
Calvin Harris - Motion
Ella Henderson - Chapter One
Olly Murs - Never Been Better
Maroon 5 - V
Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors
Clean Bandit - New Eyes
George Ezra - Wanted On Voyage
The offers are over for now, it was only running until the 5th May
Lee, most of those were already reduced to 99p over the last few days
