Well, one good side effect of low album sales means we have two brilliant bands able to get high when I wasn't expecting anywhere close, for Halestorm especially! I doubt they'll stay there throughout the week but it would be lovely to see one of them beat James Bay to the #1 spot.

Both charts suddenly becoming very interesting this week actually.

Haha, I didn't even know either Halestorm or Wombats were out. Better go download those then. biggrin.gif

(Halestorm for the top please)

They're a heavy rock band with a female singer. They haven't had any hits over here so I ain't surprised at the questioning.

They won't hang on sadly sad.gif looks like James will be back on top quite easily.

Who's out of the top 40, Jay?

Philip George, Meghan Trainor, Stevie McCrorie, Sigma/Labrinth, Sam Smith [Like I Can] - I think that's everything. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Mullo @ Apr 14 2015, 02:56 PM) *
do you know what position Madonna is?

'Rebel Heart' is #37! Nothing else in the Top 100 unfortunately.

Since sales are so low, is Marina's album in the top 100 by any chance, Jay?

Sadly not sad.gif

And this is one time I wouldn't expect you to! I'm quite surprised at this success myself.

They're somewhere a bit to the harder side of Paramore basically, I think they're rather awesome. Neither of their previous two albums had anywhere near this success (relative of course, they had stronger sales climates to contend with) although I suppose a couple of their first single releases from this one briefly showing up in the lower top 100 of iTunes should have tipped me off a little.

Kodaline coming for that first post-album Top 40 hit then. Nice to see Eels currently top 40 in the albums as well. Didn't think it would do as well as it's a live album.

I certainly did not expect to see Shayne Ward as high as number 11 in the album chart. I, without doubt expect the album to continue dropping for the remainder of the week but a top 40 place is looking very positive. I like Shayne, it would be be wonderful to see him do extremely well but i did anticipate the album to make something like a number 73 debut when I heard it was definitely getting released.

No.

It's been there too long. It will end up overtaking "Stay With Me" as the most recent song with the most consecutive weeks in the top 40. I'd rather see "Big Girls Cry" enter the top 40

It doesn't really require much to start out fairly high in the midweeks at the moment! He's only sold 2,400 to get to midweek #11, and with his Pledge scheme I'm a little surprised he hasn't sold more than that actually.

To retain his #11 position for Sunday, he'll need to shift 5,000 overall. That might be unachievable but he does have signings this week, so I guess we'll have to see what sort of impact that has on his sales! biggrin.gif Currently he's less than 500 copies behind #5.
