BuzzJack Music Forum _ Television _ The Traitors USA • Series 2

QUOTE
Based on a popular Dutch series of the same name and hosted by actor Alan Cumming, the network touts it as a “psychological adventure in which treachery and deceit are the name of the game.” The 20 contestants (both celebrity and non-celebrity) “come together to complete a series of challenges with the objective of earning a cash prize,” which could be up to $250,000.

The catch, of course, is that three of the contestants – a.k.a. “the traitors” – are tasked with will devising a plan to steal the prize from the rest of the group – coined “the faithful.”

Familiar faces in the cast include Big Brother winners Cody Calafiore and Rachel Reilly, Survivor players Cirie Fields and Stephenie LaGrossa Kendrick, Below Deck alum Kate Chastain, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Brandi Glanville, Summer House star Kyle Cooke, former Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr., Shahs of Sunset star Reza Farahan and Olympian Ryan Lochte.

The “regular” contestants include a van life influencer, political analyst, yoga instructor, ER nurse, actress and more.
The series is set in a remote castle in the Scottish Highlands, and Peacock describes the competition as “a game chock-full of alliances, deception and even ‘murder.’”

“We can’t wait for Peacock audiences to experience and play along in this epic game of manipulation and deceit, all while the iconic Alan Cumming pulls the strings of our incredible cast to create the ultimate ‘whodunit,’” Corie Henson, EVP Entertainment Unscripted Content at NBCUniversal, said in the press release.

The Traitors premieres with all 10 episodes dropping January 12, 2023, on Peacock.

Seems to be quite the popular franchise, and it's very interesting to see Reality Stars/Celebrities working with regular folk.
Cirie, Stephenie, Kate Chastain and Brandi Glanville are all great casting decisions in my mind. Can't wait!

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 7th December 2022, 10:05 PM

Kate!!!! I stan her and really hope she's made a traitor, I think she'd do amazingly well.

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 1st January 2023, 07:19 PM

Anyone know if this will be avaliable (legally) in the UK this month?

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 1st January 2023, 07:21 PM

Nothing has been announced sad.gif Really hoping we at least just get it on iPlayer!

Posted by: Calvin Maxwell 1st January 2023, 07:57 PM

Rachel cheeseblock.png

Arie *.* hopefully he’s better here bc he was a giant piece of plywood during his Bachelor season

Posted by: J❄️hq 2nd January 2023, 02:31 PM

Hoping it will be available on Now TV which gets some Peacock content, but I feel like there's often a delay rather than the shows being available at the same time as the US? (just basing this from two seasons of "Girls5eva", no idea aside from that really)

Can't wait for Rachel, hope she doesn't get banished or murdered straight away but I feel like she could be due to how loud she is. Traitors better grab a life vest!

Not the same tasks as well…!

Posted by: Simon. 5th January 2023, 02:30 PM

I want it to be the same tbh, just wish it was Claudia still.

Confirmed all episodes will be on BBC iPlayer tomorrow!

Posted by: Lukuzz 12th January 2023, 10:54 AM

YES cannot wait !

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 12th January 2023, 11:06 AM

Ayy fantastic news! Hopefully spoilers don't appear too easily though :/

Posted by: Aaron. 12th January 2023, 03:25 PM

All ten episodes have dropped. I'm stoked for this franchise and can't wait to watch this.
I got my bestie addicted, we watched AU and UK pretty quickly.
I did watch the first episode up to the Traitors Selection...

Christian, Cirie and Cody. Christian seems like a very early first Traitors boot, Cody unfortunately may be in it for the long haul. I was hoping they would pick Cirie and/or Kate.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 15th January 2023, 01:18 PM

Binged this over this weekend and I’ve got to say Cirie is a QUEEN and she played such a brilliant game . She fully deserved to win all the money . I have to respect Arie for not doing a Kieron from the UK version and not throwing her under the bus after being banished at the final hurdle also .

Posted by: troylovesmusic 15th January 2023, 01:21 PM

Double post

Posted by: Aaron. 15th January 2023, 06:57 PM

I too binged all the episodes this weekend.
High level without any spoilers, not as good as the UK Version. Unfortunately.
I found the connection between the Celebrities and the Regular Folk was off, they hardly showed any of the new people.. so.. why cast them at all? They should have just added 8 more Celebs. Dropped the nobodies and I would have been happy.

I questioned the Traitor decisions at the beginning, but they were probably the best traitors they could have picked.
I don't think the Traitors ever gained any momentum, or really had a hand in influencing the game. They really just stayed under the radar and never adapted any strategy to their eliminations. They were incredibly boring to watch.
Weak gameplay by the Faithful as well, it seemed like they were chasing absolutely nothing at the beginning of the game. Their gameplay as well made no sense.

I'd say my Top 5 (regardless of Traitor or Faithful) would be: Rachel, Cirie, Kate, Brandi and I guess.. Stephenie?
I mean. Those 5 were basically the entire season.

Posted by: Slayer 15th January 2023, 07:14 PM

Absolutely loved the US version, it was veryyyy entertaining!

My thoughts on the winner:

SO deserved Cirie did absolutely incredible, now THAT is how you play a reality show

Also that Cody was hot

Posted by: Rooney 15th January 2023, 07:55 PM

I'm 6 episodes through and yeah nowhere near as gripping or iconic as the UK series. The US version feels way more manufactured - I do feel the mix of celebrities and 'normalies' was weird. It would have been better with one or the other.

It probably highlights what a great job Will did and ultimately what a good job the casting team did.

Posted by: troylovesmusic 15th January 2023, 08:10 PM

While I do agree it wasn’t as strong as the UK version I still very much enjoyed the US version . I wasn’t really familiar with any of the reality TV ‘Celebs’ apart from Brandi so the split of half normal and reality celebs didn’t bother me that much. Going forward though they probably should pick one or the other .

Posted by: Botchia 15th January 2023, 10:32 PM

The UK version was definitely more iconic, but the US version was at least an entertaining watch. I didn't know who any of the celebs were apart from Ryan Lochte so it didn't feel too weird for me. I did still feel a lot more manufactured than the UK version due to having people who clearly understood or were familiar with how reality TV works.

The only way I think the US version has bettered the UK version is the more satisfying ending - Cirie is a winner that actually deserved the prize for their gameplay and strategy, unlike the UK version with the three winners stumbling their way to the prize almost by chance due to the Traitors giving themselves/each other away.

Posted by: Travis 15th January 2023, 10:47 PM

I haven't seen any other version of this show, but I'm 4 episodes into the US version and I'm enjoying it. I only know a handful of the celebs (Rachel, Cody, Brandi, Ryan and Cirie), but I think it would probably be more fun if it was either all reality TV celebs or all civilians. I think the mix kinda makes it weird. I don't think the format really lends itself to half-and-half casting.

Posted by: JosephStyles 16th January 2023, 07:06 AM

I really enjoyed it! Watched the first couple of episodes at the start of the weekend and binged through 3 to 10 yesterday laugh.gif it's not the UK version but that set the bar so high, and this proves the format can still succeed without a cast that's so genius. The mix between celebs and civilians felt odd and they may as well have just gone all-in on celebs for how little the civilians featured (though the UK's all-civilian take is better), but that's my only real criticism.

**endgame spoilers follow**

Cirie played an EXCELLENT game and really deserved the win. Perhaps a little selfish to cut Arie at the end but she was the one who worked the hardest and played the best game so she deserved the $250k. Rachel vs Kate was ICONIC, I'll forever be team Rachel but I found Kate such a riveting watch even if I didn't always like her. Thank god Brandi was out early though, and I was worried Cody would go far so was pleased to see him being the first traitor out. I felt a little bad for Quentin and Andie at the end, their faces dropping was quite the sight, but you can't say Cirie didn't deserve it all.

Posted by: Popchartfreak 17th January 2023, 05:23 PM

Really been enjoying both this and the UK version, hilarious at times at just how terrible everybody is at reading body language, how right Brandy was early on with nobody listening and how amusing Kate gets the more stroppy and bitchy she feels. None of them deserve to win any money at all, and both shows are an indictement on human crowd behaviour and gullibility. laugh.gif

Totally fascinating and obsessive stuff! smile.gif

Posted by: Klaus 20th January 2023, 09:15 PM

It missed the genuine personalities of the UK version and I think it should have been a cast full of reality contestants if that’s what they were wanting, given they hardly focused on the ‘newbies.’ Still enjoyed it and got addicted though, I’m just now waiting for the BBC to buy the Australian version laugh.gif

One thing that has annoyed me is that in Episode 9 it was 3 traitors v 3 faithfuls and so they had the numbers to get rid of Kate, making it 3 traitors v 2 faithfuls and therefore ruling the vote. I guess Cirie was there to take the full amount but a risky game (despite it paying off!) when they essentially had it in the back.

Posted by: Rooney 21st January 2023, 10:02 PM

Finished it finally, not as good as the UK version. At first I thought the show was filmed after the UK one, but I reckon it was filmed before. Looks like they took some feedback on board from the US version and made a few tweeks, although I guess the US audience is way different than the UK one.

The winner played a really good game, she was very much like Wilf. I thought Wilf played a better game personally on the sense that the US game was much easier for the traitors with the contestans all being stupid and having biases to each other.

HBO MAX has The Traitors Espańa. The cast is 18 Celebrities.
Apparently if you have an American HBO Account + VPN set to Spain, you can watch with Subtitles. Not sure if this trick works with other Countries that have HBO Max.

Posted by: ElectroBoy 14th February 2023, 09:55 PM

Watched the US series over the last couple of days...

Cirie just ate up that whole game. No major over the top plays - but she had everyone on side. Oddly Code and Christian gave themselves away by being too cocky and you've got to think would any of the Traitors actually have been unmasked had they not slipped, as on the whole the Faithfuls were atrocious at the game. Literally they had tunnel vision over the same players throughout the whole game and just seemed to be blinded by the same 1 or 2 things each time - which was if you were outspoken, then you're a Traitor.

Thankfully we didn't have to suffer both Brandi and Kate for the whole game - Kate was bad enough for most of it, but Brandi and her together were insufferable. At least Kate had some funny one liners, but really she must've been paid to perform like that!?! as what was stopping her from just walking if she hated it that much.

Cirie though played the perfect game. It didn't even feel like she had to work for it most of the time and she was so calm and collected. Compare that to Wilf in the UK version who got to the end, but jeez he WORKED for it... only for it to come undone right at the end. Its a shame Arie gave up at the end - I guess he knew he would be the one out next, but even so - FIGHT for it!

I did enjoy it overall. Its a shame the tasks were so similar to the UK one and once you got into the OTT Americaness of it all, it was alright - even if the Faithfuls on the whole had no real thinking or plan other than to chip away at the same people each and every time.

Traitors Reunion Tomorrow!

Posted by: ElectroBoy 28th February 2023, 12:06 PM

A UK one would be more interesting biggrin.gif

Posted by: Aaron. 1st March 2023, 02:03 PM

The reunion was cute, even if it was just the one part.
We got what we needed. More Rachel v Kate and how the two Newbies felt about Cirie taking the money.
A bit from Ari, who probably shouldn’t have shown up.
However did notice the one girl in the back I don’t remember at all that they never talked to laugh.gif

I agree, the UK definitely deserved a reunion.

The US reunion is coming to the iPlayer tomorrow!

Posted by: ChrisJK 15th March 2023, 01:34 PM

Have now finished watching this. I think it got better as it went along, but it wasn't as good as the UK version.

I just didn't like anyone that much. The only person who I really wanted to win was Kate. She played the game so well... with both viewers and the other contestants. I went from loathing her to loving her.

Posted by: spiceboy 2nd April 2023, 11:09 PM

I really liked Cirie until the very end at which point I just went off her. I hate greedy people, is 125k not enough money for you?

Posted by: Aaron. 5th June 2023, 06:38 PM

No Civilians next season, only “Celebrities” which I’m absolutely fine with if they keep the bar as high as they did last season.
UK apparently is filming in July, so maybe filming right after?

Posted by: Calvin Maxwell 19th September 2023, 04:46 PM

streets are saying Dan Gheesling is in S2?

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 19th September 2023, 04:52 PM

CT being on S2 Is enough to put me off 🤢🤢🤢 vile

Posted by: Aaron. 19th September 2023, 09:58 PM

Definitely some interesting names floating around, a few however are saying they aren’t on the cast laugh.gif
Ugh, some names I’d definitely take a pass on. Bananas being one for sure.

Posted by: Liаm 19th September 2023, 10:28 PM

Walking into the Traitors and seeing Dan or Cirie is like when they walked into Drag Race and Sasha Colby was there, Dan is such genius casting. Excited for Janelle too but I just hope she’s more switched on than BB22 which was an all around dumpster fire tbf, and BB14 where she was just kind of vibing laugh.gif

Posted by: Aaron. 20th September 2023, 12:11 PM

I’m seeing Parvati (Survivor) and Larsa Pippen’s name floating around.
DAN, JANELLE AND PARVATI THO *.*
Derrick Levasseur was asked and said no *.*

Posted by: Aaron. 21st September 2023, 11:01 AM

The latest names I’m seeing, very much influx:

Sandra Diaz-Twine
Sheree Whitfield
Claudia Jordan
Phaedra Parks
Peppermint (Drag Race)

Boston Rob and Lindsay Hubbard who were previously rumoured are no longer taking part

Posted by: Aaron. 22nd September 2023, 11:25 PM

Cast announcement! They really did bring together the best of the best.

Posted by: Riser 22nd September 2023, 11:45 PM

This may be the most stacked cast list I've ever seen ohmy.gif Sandra AND Parvati? Dan AND Janelle?? Bananas AND CT??? If that doesn't get me to watch The Traitors I don't know what will!

Posted by: Rooney 22nd September 2023, 11:48 PM

John Bercow hahaha

Posted by: Aaron. 1st November 2023, 02:45 PM

Not a HUGE spoiler, more on the casting side of things: There now seems to be rumblings of Intruder(s) that join later in the game, one confirmed name is Kate Chastain. No confirmation yet on any additional “Intruders”

Posted by: Aaron. 15th December 2023, 02:46 AM

There is also a confirmed aftershow called “Traitors Postmortem” that will be available on YouTube and Peacock.
They will have interviews with the eliminated contestants and will capture their reactions to who the traitors actually are.

Posted by: Aaron. 11th January 2024, 12:27 AM

Another tease. Everytime I see something new, I’m reminded this is an absolutely stacked cast and there’s someone new that catches my eye. This time it was Trishelle *.*

My “Traitor” guesses would be:
Dan Gheesling
Deontay Wilder
Phaedra Parks
Peppermint

The last two I am hoping and praying for. I do think Dan could be an obvious choice for a Traitor, he’s damn near perfect and almost mirrors the decision to make Cody a Traitor last year.. so, probably not?

This potentially could open up a spot for someone like Sandra or Parvati.
Confirmation this arrives Jan 12th at 9 ET. So I will make a night of it.

Posted by: Aaron. 13th January 2024, 03:34 AM

Thank you Peacock for assembling one of the best cast of all time, that was an epic first episode.

and the traitors are Dan and Phaedra. I gasped when Dan was actually selected and Phaedra was actually pretty high up on my list. I think they work well together. I was also highly impressed with their shortlist of who they wanted as a traitor. Two of my picks selected tho!

Episode 2: epic, we get PARVATI as a Traitor and BANANAS is the first to get murdered. This is fan-fiction at its finest.

Trishelle v Peppermint laugh.gif
John running in the challenge laugh.gif
Classic Sheree flip-flopping on her opinion when put on the spot laugh.gif

That first round table was a bit short, but there were only two really obvious targets for that vote. I feel like Peppermint put herself in that position, I’m not upset by that banishment.

Episode 3: zoned out of the challenge completely but I heard Janelle snatched a shield which was very big brother coated.

Interesting both UK and US ended on the same twist tonight.

Posted by: JackTheeStallion 13th January 2024, 12:25 PM

Not available to watch anywhere in the UK 🙃 I thought we were in 2024 but apparently not?!

There's such a huge audience for it, it makes no sense ugh.

Posted by: Liаm 14th January 2024, 08:44 PM

It’s going on BBC3 again apparently but there isn’t a date for it yet

Posted by: Liаm 19th January 2024, 07:45 AM

My god this is TELEVISION!!!

Unpopular opinion but I find normal people on The Traitors incredibly boring tbh, it is genius casting to have reality tv legends and people who are used to making good TV like Real Housewives. You’ve got excellent game players like Sandra, Dan and Parvati, then you’ve got quite volatile people like Phaedra, and it’s an excellent formula, this has been cast so impeccably. Ekin-Su has been incredibly disappointing though given how great she was on Love Island.

Although for me I can’t believe the Faithfuls aren’t already targeting at least Dan/Parvati/Sandra, unless none of them have seen BB or Survivor, surely it’s blatantly obvious that firstly they’d be prime candidates for a Traitor but also that they’d play it excellently, so you’d surely suspect them first. But then I guess that’s also part of the game, if you thought that and were wrong it could definitely ruin your game so you have to potentially bide your time until there’s less targets and someone slips up. Dan and Parvati working together is a f***ing DREAM on TV and I hope it continues for the whole season.

Posted by: Aaron. 19th January 2024, 01:19 PM

Oh, so I assumed perhaps this followed the UK delivery where we get 3 episodes a week. Nope. Episode 5 isn’t until next week.
In addition to that, although the first batch of episodes landed at the same time as everyone else, for some reason, Episode 4 wasn’t released in real time in Canada??

I however still managed to find the episode.
Episode 4: It's strange seeing the same challenges and twists from the UK one this weekend up in the US Episode, however, brilliant twist and it did end up quite differently from the UK episode. CAMP. PHAEDRA v DAN AND PARVATI!! The Housewives Alliances v The Gamers Alliance - YES! I love both sides however. Eek, looks like Janelle may have a target on her name.

But I agree. This is - probably has the potential to be the best RTV Season of all time if it keeps going the way it is. Easily the best ensemble that has been put together for a RTV show.
The biggest opportunity unfortunately was not putting UK and US back to back like this, especially since they are basically using the same challenges. They should have left one to air in a few months from now. I do however like that one is all Celebrities and one is all Newbies.
They've definitely made the effort to make the Challenges more watchable as well, they have a bigger impact on the game and stronger narration/confessionals throughout.

Posted by: Aaron. 20th January 2024, 02:58 PM

(#1 show on Peacock, viewership up 75% from Season 1 Premiere and renewed for Season 3)

Posted by: JosephChalamet 20th January 2024, 06:36 PM

Yeah this is fantastic so far, so many great characters. The ones I know (Dan and Janelle) are serving as I hoped and I've discovered so many great new players. Parvati vs Phaedra !!!! but I love them both laugh.gif John Bercow being a deer in headlights, his only storyline so far being his heavy breathing tearsmile.gif

Posted by: Liаm 20th January 2024, 09:56 PM

Phaedra beefing with Parvati is so Brantsteele simulator, this season is everything and more, I’m dead

Posted by: Aaron. 26th January 2024, 03:21 PM

Wowza, what an intense Episode 5:

Not Tamra AND Janelle. Although, I’m happy that Tamra went over Sandra in that murder, but I need Sandra to stand out a bit more.

Dan v Janelle again MY GOD.
Sandra v Janelle nooo my favs.

Janelle shot herself in the foot for probably going after Dan a week too early. He was easily able to pull in the numbers, despite a lot of people clocking onto him. It’s not looking so great for Dan - but it’s looking good again for Phaedra!

Posted by: Aaron. 26th January 2024, 11:54 PM

SCREAMING

Posted by: Aaron. 2nd February 2024, 03:09 PM

Episode 6 that round table was so intense!

Yeah, the writing has been on the wall for Dan for a while now, it was unavoidable. I love Dan but he didn't play a very good fake faithful game. Janelle called him out for, pretty much doing exactly nothing and she was right! Peter planting that information really paid off and was one of the best Faithful moves we've seen on The Traitors so far. The round table was so intense and Dan tried pulling off one of his classic Big Brother moves. Phaedra completely checked him, however.
I think recruiting Peter may be a mistake. I love Parvati but I don't see a path for her to win as a Traitor at this point. Too many eyes on her.
Phaedra does/did have a good path forward, it will be interesting to see if anyone picks up the suspicions Dan had.
Peter has a very good path forward as a Traitor or a Faithful. Phaedra and Parvati should try to find a way to offboard him ASAP but that will prove difficult.

Posted by: JosephBoone 4th February 2024, 12:11 PM

It's been great watching Dan play a game like this again but I agree, he didn't quite adapt well enough this time. He was far too quiet and didn't plant enough seeds to be able to land the shot at Phaedra. Peter's plan was brilliant though, just the kind of gameplay I want to see!!

Posted by: Aaron. 5th February 2024, 09:51 PM

Reunion confirmed! Films this week !

Posted by: Aaron. 9th February 2024, 01:40 PM

Episode 7: AMAZING STRATEGIES IN PLAY.
Sandra working with Parvati to keep her safe <3
I love Peter and how he’s running the faithful, but I also need him OUT.

This season could be… perfect?
Or at least close to it. I thought I’d be more disappointed because a lot of my favs have already left, but this is STILL serving.

Casting Related: Marcellas (Big Brother 3, 7) confirmed yesterday that he was contacted about this season specifically but declined because he didn’t have a passport. Said he was glad to give this season a pass because of Janelle. It’s been 20 years, I don’t know why Marcellas always has a hate on for strong women! I need a season with Janelle, Danielle Reyes and Amy Crews to send his ass home first!

Posted by: Aaron. 16th February 2024, 03:38 PM

Episode 8: Peacock has always done exceptionally well with its streaming content - but The Traitors US is just on another level completely. Although that was more of a filler episode, the writing was on the wall for either Parvati or Phaedra honestly. Even for myself, I was going back and forth on who I wanted to go. Parvati has had a target on her back since, well, the blindfolds came off laugh.gif but I'm impressed that she made it this far and she ALMOST had John. Phaedra obviously cemented some strong relationships at the beginning which are starting to pay off.
Phaedra recruiting Kate? Hmm. I don't hate her choice, but I'm not sure if this helps or hurts Phaedra. I think Kate will work with Phaedra and keep her safe in some capacity, at least at the beginning - but Kate could end up being a solo Traitors Winner if she's still around.

I didn't have Trishelle being a strategic mastermind on my list either - but she was an excellent casting decision.

Thoughts on Parvati as a Traitor: I've watched Parvati since 2006 and her first season of Survivor. I've watched her dominate in Micronesia and Heroes v Villians as a Survivor Series is a must-watch. I did however think she was quite muted this season. She wasn't really the strategic mastermind when she, Dan, and Phaedra were Traitors. However, I think she was playing to her position and did very well. Parvati is known as the Black Widow. Strategic mastermind. One of the best to ever play Survivor. She would absolutely for me place in my Top 100 RTV Characters of all times. I wish she showed a bit more of what I saw in Survivor - I just felt that we only got 80% of what I expected, but I wasn't disappointed.

Posted by: Aaron. 1st March 2024, 03:31 PM

No doubt the longer this went on the more predictable it became. Intense start to the season, okay mid-season but starting to lose steam at the end, however, the ending should be exciting because I have NO idea what’s going to happen for the Finale.

I’m openly rooting for Sandra to win and if she continues to clock Kate, it could happen!
A final 3 maybe of Kate, Sandra and CT with the Sandra/CT win, I’d be very happy.
