BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Nathan Sykes - Give It Up

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Mar 28 2016, 12:06 PM

There's probably a few live versions knocking about. In all honesty, this is pretty boring. Surprised they didn't save the Ariana collab as a third single and stick her on this.

Posted by: slowdown73 Mar 28 2016, 01:41 PM

I haven't heard this but if it's boring, maybe it's time he did "give it up" as the title suggests lol.

Posted by: mdh Mar 28 2016, 01:46 PM

Ready for Capital to murder it tho

Posted by: Ethan Mar 28 2016, 03:26 PM

that's a rather ironic title~ laugh.gif

Seems like it features G-Eazy, or there's at least a remix with him ohmy.gif https://www.instagram.com/p/BDoNg3mmI1t/

Also it's out on 13th May, not the 30th! heehee.gif

They should have moved a bit quicker after 'Over And Over Again' became a hit - I know it's only been 4 months but seeing as his singles are only hanging around for 2 weeks it feels like forever ago.

Think this will be a 28-67-out kind of release.

If Lawson couldn't even make the top 200 with 'Money', he has similar little hope I feel. Thank the Lord.

Posted by: danielG Apr 3 2016, 02:12 PM

hopefully it misses the entire top 100 and we never have to hear from him again.

Even though this hasn't been officially stated, Lawson missed the Top 200 because it was made ineligible to chart! It just had to be... it wasn't even Top 100 in the Physical chart, and with 3 CD formats it probably would have made that chart with just one bundle sold. laugh.gif

This is now on Spotify smile.gif

Posted by: Lee_J11 Apr 8 2016, 07:57 AM

I actually really like this ohmy.gif

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Apr 8 2016, 08:48 AM

It's been on Spotify since Monday?

Posted by: Regina Apr 8 2016, 12:01 PM

I've actually really liked all his solo stuff thus far, this is another good song.

Posted by: JosephStyles Apr 8 2016, 12:18 PM

This is pretty great! Not as good as Over and Over Again but it's solid, I hope it can be a hit (although also hoping it won't so held-back releases are killed off lol but that won't happen)

Posted by: J▲hq Apr 28 2016, 08:24 PM

Not here for the song really but the video.....

Posted by: LushLife Apr 28 2016, 08:25 PM

The video has been banned from music channels.

Posted by: Regina Apr 28 2016, 08:25 PM

He's all skin and bones, but the song remains pretty fab.

Posted by: liamk97 Apr 28 2016, 09:29 PM

Not sure if it really needs to be banned, it's only the last minute or so that it gets particularly sexual (and even then it's not showing anything 'graphic') which could easily be edited out with scenes from elsewhere in the video, which is usually what music channels do. It's not really any different to Justin Bieber's 'What Do You Mean?'.

Maybe he'll sell it as a video single?

Posted by: jase. Apr 28 2016, 09:56 PM

Pretty sure this banned from music channels thing is to drum up publicity for the song laugh.gif

Posted by: mr_pmt Apr 29 2016, 12:03 AM

I rather like this!

Posted by: tommie Apr 29 2016, 09:07 AM

Why do failing pop artists choose such ironic titles?

Posted by: Alejandjob Apr 30 2016, 03:56 PM

I'd Give It Up to him tbh.

Posted by: slowdown73 Apr 30 2016, 11:40 PM

I heard this today on the radio. It's actually not bad but not as good as his last song but miles better than his first solo track.

Posted by: Juliano May 1 2016, 12:45 AM

I actually like this! Added it to my playlist!

Posted by: ThePensmith May 1 2016, 09:10 PM

The video is so bad it makes Geri Halliwell's 'Desire' look VMA winning by comparison...

Posted by: liamk97 May 3 2016, 03:55 PM

Just seen this on the TV and it looks like they have cut out the particularly sexy scenes and replaced them with previous clips in the video.

Posted by: LushLife May 3 2016, 03:56 PM

I just seen this on The Box, I guess it's not been banned after all ohmy.gif

Flopping as expected - It's actually a decent song but he is making generic music in a crowded male market. Definate miss by his record label waiting 5 months to follow up 'Over And Over Again' - Also his last singles have had a 59p price tag which I'm sure helped, Surely he will be dropped now?

I think the album will still be pushed ahead but who knows...

Posted by: ___∆___ May 18 2016, 09:44 PM

His HMV signings this week appear to have been busy but I guess selling 100-200 (?) physicals at each signing is no match for almost non existent streaming.

Posted by: Ja˙ May 19 2016, 01:24 AM

What a shame, I much prefer this song to his previous two!

Posted by: slowdown73 May 19 2016, 04:49 AM

Favourite song so far and love Jack Wins remixes. Shame it won't be top40.

didn't like it that much, but I heard worse...

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE May 19 2016, 11:00 AM

He has a v. unique relationship with Global... but they surely won't keep bumping money into him.

I don't think the problem is his music which has been quite good apart from the first single. I think it's more related to people not really identifying with him as an artist. The Wanted had the same problem - they didn't appear to connect with the public despite making some great pop songs.

Posted by: ___∆___ May 21 2016, 05:55 AM

Reduced to 59p on iTunes and currently at #23 - Could spend a 2nd week in the Top 75 and I'm sure Capital will continue to have the song on loop!
