Assuming that figure for Stars In Their Eyes doesn't include HD? I mean That has to be a terrible result either way.

It does include HD, but not +1. Such an awful performance for a much hyped comeback. It got the ratings it deserved, the show was atrocious.

Next week will likely see a collapse in viewers.

ITV seems to just be re-showing all of its Christmas programmes - Skyfall last night and there was the likes of Miranda being shown again.

Those are good ratings for The Voice - only slightly down on last year's opening overnight figure of 8.37m. The blind auditions seem to have better ratings than the rest of the show which seems odd in writing.

I'm very impressed with how well The Voice holds up during the auditions each year considering the criticism that surrounds it each year.

A poor result for Stars in Their Eyes too, no doubt helped by being up against The Voice but yes, the drop next week will no doubt be laughable.

The voice ratings seem really good and I can see stars in their eyes under 2M views, possibly even under 1.5M next week.

The Voice UK launch episodes - overnight ratings

Series 1: 8.43m (37.6%)
Series 2: 6.24m (26.9%)
Series 3: 8.37m (34.8%)
Series 4: 8.05m (35.9%)

I'd say this year's opening episode has held up quite well - especially since The X Factor have been dropping a lot with its latest series.

What went wrong with Series 2? Did it clash with something or was aired on a Friday?

I think it clashed with Britain's Got Talent and it lost all its hype after the live shows from the previous year. IIRC it managed to build back up it's audience as people warmed to the audition process again. Then I think the change of 'coaches' helped the show to stabilise for Series 3 and people being more aware of what the show was.

You know I actually enjoyed SITE. Yes it was basically just Harry doing TV Burp under a different banner, but it was good fun. I'm not sure it would be appointment TV for me though, more just something I would watch if nothing else is on.

Very strong night for BBC One and it's impressive that 'Still Open All Hours' is holding up so well! I can definitely see it coming back for a second series which I hadn't anticipated after reading criticism of 2013's Christmas special.

I'm quite surprised by that, I watched a few minutes over Christmas and cringed so hard I nearly broke my face.

I'm hoping 'Broadchurch' can sustain the audience throughout the series. The first episode was probably boosted by intrigue into what the second series was about and I'm wondering if the current lack of a 'whodunnit' will hurt it.

A strong start for 'Death in Paradise' too ohmy.gif

Disappointing to see a big fall for 'Broadchurch' but, as I said above, the first episode will have been boosted by hype and intrigue. Hopefully, it will be able to sustain itself from this point and perhaps increase once the storyline for the series establishes itself. I guess 'Silent Witness' also hurt it considering it was moved to Monday this week.

Not sure what the usual ratings are like for 4pm on ITV but I expected higher for 'Mel & Sue'!
