The only entry I know here is Pupok's, it was originally confirmed last month before that country changed

I'm concerned about my qualification chances going for subtle (but absolutely gorgeous) indie-pop as the last time I did this, poor SLO failed to qualify. But it is the only song I've connected to on my search over the past few days so I've gone for it! I really hope some people appreciate the beauty of it.

The perfect time to listen to my song is walking through some autumn trees, it is so perfect for this time of year!

Voted! My top 3 are massively in front of the rest, three really fantastic tracks, one of which I looked at myself a couple of months ago <3 Really solid semi overall though, surprisingly rock orientated but quite a few of the rock entries were very good!

tbh I did kind of miss the Halloween one this year but the Christmas one is v limiting and just about every Christmas song will have been sent before or at least known of and there's only so many Christmas songs a person can take... very soon there's gonna be Christmas songs playing EVERYWHERE so I'm up for going away from that for a spin off contest in December, especially if its the recycle another countries artist one that's been discussed a little before

I really hope those songs qualify and people don't take on the mentality that they've only got enough room for one rock song in their votes, I feel like a lot of people might be like "oh I preferred this song to the last few, I'll point it" and then just erasing all the other songs from the list, THERES NEVER TOO MUCH GUITAR x

No they're definitely all really distinctive, just in a contest where it's not the most popular genre, there's s good chance people will group them together, it happens with pop songs a lot too but there's usually a lot more of them so it's not as criminal, there is a fair amount of generic dance/standard bjsc sounding songs so I'm hoping it's those that get cut at the semis rather than the rock-ish ones

I never take genre into consideration when I vote. It's usually a gut feel of did I like it more or less than x y z and then slot it into my rank in the appropriate place.

Managed to vote hooray, one of the most diverse and interesting semis I've ever been a part of I think! Was a hell of a bloodbath for my points and I wasn't giving points to songs that would usually be certs in my votes, the final's gonna be tough is most of them make it through.

I guess but like dance/electro/indie have been the most prominent genre for as long as I've been entering, I imagine it has been for quite some time. I think it's just because most of those types of entries are in semi 2 it makes it feel like there's a "rock semi" and a "dance semi" when really there's only a handful of rock songs in this one, I've not heard the other semi but I imagine it's mostly dancey things

Surely it's equally if not more 'disrespectful' to the contest and its participants to randomise your votes?

This has more impact on everyone else in producing a less accurate outcome, and can be the difference between a qualifier on merit being pushed down by something that simply got lucky. If you find you don't have time to vote then at least by not voting you're taking the hit yourself with minimal impact on other participants (the vast majority of whom have put several hours into listening through and ordering). I don't mean to have a go here - I just hate the thought that randomising votes should be in any way encouraged.

I do agree though that if you ever foresee yourself having trouble finding the time to participate properly, it's best to sit the contest out (no shade Harve as I've struggled myself!).

it is the same way as the deadline usually being in the first post and considering it's not the first post you made in the thread i'm assuming you need to be in the topic where the deadline is, people rly need to keep on top of this instead of waiting to be prompted again and again (like for instance if you see the deadline and know you're not going to listen right that second, why not organise a specific night to do it? or instead of assuming it when the thread goes up make a mental note of the deadline and then you'll know when it is? the info is available at all times)

and yes inb4 anyone brings it up i'm aware that it's 'only' a song contest but then if it's 'only' a song contest why do we get heightened reactions when something is out of their zone of convenience?

We did make changes! It's why I rigidly control the calendar and why the deadlines are fixed at 23:59.


It's not much to ask to notice the deadline. The absolute majority manage this month in month out for 9 years.




On the other hand Math, you miss about half the deadlines even after being harassed to vote by the host. So go back to the drawing board coz that excuse ain't holding no water.
