It's new girl Billie Eilish's dark-avant-pop that took over the world in 2019 vs. an all time fave artist of mine, Taylor Swift with her breezy and romantic pop........

02 Billie Eilish - When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Highlights: Bad Guy, When The Party's Over, Bury A Friend, All The Good Girls Go To Hell, You Should See Me In A Crown

Close but no cigar for Billie, but what an album! She's been around for a few years but for her to put out something this good, something this unique and innovative while still having an eye for what would fit in on radio, is astounding. This is someone just starting out not just in music but in life really, at just 18 years old, with a wisdom beyond her years who knows exactly what to say, and how to say it. The production is sparse, haunting and at times weird, perfectly complimentary to her ethereal and creepy vocal. She just feels like she does what she wants within her vision but still always manages to hit a pop home run, and I love that.

01 Taylor Swift - Lover

Highlights: Cruel Summer, Lover, You Need To Calm Down, The Man, Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince (but Me! is NOT that bad come on guys)

As with every album she released this decade, Taylor ends as my year end #1 album! It may not be as sprawling and flawless as 1989 or as shocking and dark as Reputation, but it's a mature evolution that perfectly represents the great place she is in personally at present. There's something for everything and I feel like any Taylor fan who has a certain favourite "era" can find solace here - there's the lovestruck title track, the perfect pop of Cruel Summer, the scathing feminism of The Man, the vulnerability of Soon You'll Get Better and the reflective ballads Afterglow and Daylight. It's closest to 1989 but I think it's exactly what she needed at this point in her career, a bit of everything while showcasing what she does best - telling the story of her life as it is during whatever period she worked on an album. She never fails to exceed expectations and surprise me and always slays me with it <3

Without further ado, let's move on and get through the best songs of 2019!!

100 Mabel – Loneliest Time Of The Year
99 Riton & Oliver Heldens ft. Vula - Turn Me On
98 Maggie Rogers - Love You For A Long Time
97 Jax Jones & Ella Henderson - This Is Real
96 Netta - Bassa Sababa
95 Nina Nesbitt - Love Letter
94 ZENA - Like It
93 Aly Ryan - Wear Your Love
92 Bella Santiago - Army of Love
91 Madonna ft. Anitta - Faz Gostoso

Kicking us off is a Christmas song, Mabel who gives us a realistic take on Christmas, which for some can be the Loneliest Time Of The Year. It's nothing revolutionary but it's such a cute little bop and the theme makes such a change for a Christmas song as it's something a lot of people don't think about!
Turn Me On is a rare time that I like one of these all-too-common dance re-workings, this one takes Yazoo's Don't Go, turning that unmistkable bassline into a fabulous disco anthem that would go off in any self-respecting club *.*
Love You For A Long Time built on Maggie's surprisingly great debut album with her raw rootsy sound pairing so well with melodic production, giving her even more promise as an artist I'm exciting to hear more from.
This Is Real was a genius idea for Ella, she'd been away for a while but coming back on a soaring dance banger as big as her voice was a great way to re-introduce herself!
Bassa Sababa is absolutely bonkers (moreso than Toy) with its rodeo hoedown dubstep production but tbh I wouldn't have it any other way from Netta.
Love Letter is a fab homage to 90s R&B, a sound Nina already played with on Loyal To Me and this does that precedent justice!
Like It is the first Eurovision entry to appear here but certainly not the least! At just 16, Zena pulled off a performance any pop girl worldwide could be proud of tbh.
Wear Your Love SHOULD have been the second Eurovision entry but Germany robbed it for S!sters :/ Just an absolute banger, the kind of brilliant pop we always need on that iconic stage.
Army of Love is basically Fuego, but nonetheless another robbed Eurovision banger. The Fillipino language rap section *.*
Faz Gostoso rounds this section off, the best song from Madonna's recent very good album, a Portuguese tinged bop.

It was great to see Turn Me On become a hit, glad you're a fan as well! This Is Real was another great dance track although not one of my favourite from Jax.

Giving Love You For a Long Time a listen now, quite enjoying it! The guitar in particular really suits the song and her voice is great as well.

90 Charli XCX ft. Big Freedia, Cupcakke, Brooke Candy & Pablo Vittar – Shake It
89 Trixie Mattel - Yellow Cloud
88 Post Malone ft. Young Thug - Goodbyes
87 Billie Eilish - All The Good Girls Go To Hell
86 Guy Sebastian - Choir
85 PVRIS - Death of Me
84 Maren Morris - The Bones
83 Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go
82 Sheppard - On My Way
81 Molly Sanden - Rosa himmel

Shake It is totally bizarre, but what else do you expect from Charli's self-titled? laugh.gif With squlechy production, banging beats and even an ASMR verse from Cupcakke, this is far from say 1999 or Boom Clap, but every Charli album worth its salt needs some weird added in!
Yellow Cloud is such a happy song, it feels quite 70s or 80s but it's just so breezy and makes me happy every team, one of the best Trixie has done to date.
Goodbyes is typically melodic for Post Malone, he's so much at his contemporaries at that as I feel he's usually got a poppy melody that appeals beyond a lot of the mumble rap rubbish we have to suffer, this is such a great example of that!
All The Good Girls Go To Hell is one of the poppier offerings on Billie's album, but it still has that vibe that you feel only she could pull off with some dark weirdness added in, surprised it wasn't bigger as a single tbh.
Choir is such a cute tribute to a friend of Guy's who died, it's always easy to do a weepy ballad in that respect but I think it's lovely to do an uptempo punchy song that says "I'm gonna keep singing and remember you while doing it", it's really uplifting and his best in quite a while for me!
Death Of Me launched a poppier era for PVRIS perfectly, it's one of those instances where it's definitely a different and more commercial sound but it doesn't lose any of the PVRIS soul that makes them them, so best of both worlds.
The Bones was instantly the obvious hit on Maren's album, no surprise to see it did well and in fact I think is still building as a crossover hit? Either way, a lovely song with that typical country heart, but a bit of soulful R&B as well so that I can imagine it being at home at many different radio formats for many different people.
Before You Go is stunning lyrically, much more personal than even Someone You Loved for example but all the better for it. I don't always love Lewis' voice but this is one of those songs where you feel every word and he brings out the best in it all.
On My Way was a fan fave in Australia's Eurovision selection and whilst the right person won, I can see why! It's a hugely epic and uplifting track that would have sounded right at home on stage, maybe another year for Sheppard.
Rosa himmel is a stunning ballad from Molly, which some of you may have heard on Netflix's Quicksand. She's busy releasing bop after bop but she still has time to show just how emotive her voice can be in this ballad that broke me in Quicksand!

Very good section just there! Death of Me was really good from PVRIS, I'm loving Before You Go at the moment, and Goodbyes was a number one for me!

Approve of the Post Malone, Bring Me The Horizon, Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish albums from earlier too, all would be in my top ten albums of the year.

80 Grandson - Stigmata
79 Kesha - Raising Hell
78 Taylor Swift - Beautiful Ghosts
77 Miranda Lambert - Mess With My Head
76 Georgia - About Work The Dancefloor
75 Ariana Grande - Ghostin'
74 Ariana Grande - Bloodline
73 Tiesto & Mabel - God Is A Dancer
72 Panic! At The Disco - Into The Unknown
71 Ashley O - On A Roll

Stigmata is typical Grandson but all the better for it *.* Political as always, the lyrics state that the truth will always prevail even if thretaened with violence, and nobody can deny that drop in the chorus that adds an aggressive edge to the message, drilling it in as hard as possible.
Raising Hell was a fun start to Kesha's latest era, a bouncy gospel tinged bop that feels like a party in church in the best way. I feel like this melds together a few different facets of Kesha, a bit for everything, that represents her as an artist to date before she embarks on a new era.
Beautiful Ghosts is Taylor's first appearance but certainly not her last! This dramatic show tune is stunning and shows off Taylor's voice in a way we don't often hear it. It's a shame it's attached to a mess a film because this deserved an Oscar nom if not a win tbh.
Mess With My Head is probably the poppiest we've heard from Miranda, without losing her heart. It feels like it draws inspiration from Shania Twain/Faith Hill, that kind of late 90s pop-country era with a rocky tinge, a bit of Miranda's comfort zone but it nonetheless could only be done by hear.
About Work The Dancefloor is a gay anthem for our times, it perfectly frames that moment in a club when you're lost in the music with someone you fancy, sharing that electric moment. Slight Dancing On My Own teas without the dread of unrequited love x
Ghostin' is a stunning highlight of Ariana's latest album, focusing on communication in a relationship when you're in love with someone else, the feelings that surround the decision to cut everything off suddenly. It's one of those where you feel every word <3
Bloodline keeps us with Ari, but from a heart wrenching ballad to a bop *.* A bit like Side To Side, this is a reggae-tinged bop, and one of the highlights of TUN, with lyrics that state how its best to take things slow and see how things work out, it doesn't need to be serious (she learned from Pete :eyes:).
God Is A Dancer showed us Mabel could serve as a dance diva *.* It's not too generic like a few dance songs lately, it was just good to hear her on something a bit different after her album was quite disappointing with rehashes of the same couple of songs.
Into The Unknown is an Oscar nominated song in Frozen 2, sung by Idina Menzel in the film ofc, but this version is better x I love the drama, the drums build it up and Brendan's got the perfect voice to ramp up the theatrics and make the song feel huge, important and like a centrepiece.
On A Roll is a song by Miley Cyrus' Black Mirror persona - who'd have thought a poppified version of a Nine Inch Nails song written to take aim at pop would be such a bop? *.* Should've been a huge actual single tbh x

The top 4 albums are magnificent, Billie's album would be my favourite from the year, but I enjoy "Lover" too (P.S. ME! is actually good IMO).
As for your top 100 songs so far, here are the songs that I like:
99 Riton & Oliver Heldens ft. Vula - Turn Me On Fantastic song, the bassline makes it incredible!
97 Jax Jones & Ella Henderson - This Is Real The only Jax Jones song that went #1 in my chart and it deserves it, because it's fantastic!
94 ZENA - Like It Pretty impressed by ZENA, I liked this song (pun very intended) and with 16 to compete at Eurovision that says a lot (Even though she not the youngest contestant at the ESC, the 1986 Contest was won by a 13 year old, pretending to be 15, but I digress)
93 Aly Ryan - Wear Your Love I honestly thought this would won and it SHOULD'VE won, but no, we had S!sters, if Germany would've send this, we would have a higher place and not you know, 0 points from the televoting.
88 Post Malone ft. Young Thug - Goodbyes This was growing on me a lot and now I really like this.
87 Billie Eilish - All The Good Girls Go To Hell
86 Guy Sebastian - Choir
83 Lewis Capaldi - Before You Go
79 Kesha - Raising Hell
78 Taylor Swift - Beautiful Ghosts
76 Georgia - About Work The Dancefloor I just started now to enjoy this song, it's currently on my top 10 this week!
75 Ariana Grande - Ghostin'
74 Ariana Grande - Bloodline
73 Tiesto & Mabel - God Is A Dancer Tiesto is a fantastic DJ and Mabel is such a great singer, I kinda have a crush on her too (not since Dua Lipa have I felt that on a female singer)
72 Panic! At The Disco - Into The Unknown

Great list so far, can't wait to see the rest!

Love About Work the Dancefloor, think it's probably the song in my EOY that's in the most other EOYs, a real fun electro-pop tune.

Giving Stigmata a play, the lyrics are certainly very hard-hitting but that's grandson I guess, and the drop is very exciting.

70 Conan Osiris – Telemóveis
69 Taylor Swift - Christmas Tree Farm
68 Rosalia - Aute Cuture
67 Selena Gomez - Look At Her Now
66 Billie Eilish - Everything I Wanted
65 Jessica Mauboy - Little Things
64 Miley Cyrus - Slide Away
63 FKA Twigs - Cellophane
62 Margaret - Tempo
61 Lil' Nas X ft. Billy Ray Cyrus - Old Town Road

Telemóveis was probably the biggest robbery at Eurovision this year, confined to the semis. It's VERY un-Eurovision, being a song that has a strange and unique worldbeat production with a message that phone addiction is dangerous, but that's all the better for this song, such a unique and beguiling song that I couldn't get enough of.
Christmas Tree Farm is the second and last of Taylor's random releases to appear, leaving the Lover slayage in the running. This is such a cute little Christmas track I know I'll revisit in years to come, it has all the hallmarks without being too sickly sweet and cliche like some Xmas songs.
Aute Cuture is a Latin bop, and such a popstar moment from Rosalia (as usual). This is more pop than we're used to from her but it works, so so catchy and is just a SERVE in every sense.
Look At Her Now followed shortly after the absolute STATEMENT of Selena's latest lead single, so whilst this cute and defiant "show him what he's missing" bop wasn't as much of a moment as LYTLM, it was great to see a fun side that showed what the album might encompass.
Everything I Wanted was a nice surprise extra from Billie, we already got an amazing album in 2019 but she rounded the year off with another great song. It feels a bit different, like an evolution, but it has that moody and introspective Billie signature stamp.
Little Things is a beautiful ballad from Jessica, an honest and introspective look at the seemingly minor things that can make or break a relationship. It's simple, which lets the message speak for itself and makes the powerful climax more effective.
Slide Away was a return to form for Miley after I wasn't fussed on the She Is Coming stuff, this kind of gorgeous psychedelic hazey vibe really suits her vocal and makes everything about it shine.
Cellophane is a gorgeous, fragile track that perfectly shows the emotion that bursts out of Twigs' voice at every turn. Nobody else could draw everything out of this song quite like she can <3
Tempo is a robbed Melfest bop, spoiler alert it's below the winner here but for it not to even make it to Andra Chansen... This is everything you want from Eurovision pop, a huge chorus, banging production and catchy melodies.
Old Town Road is of course one of the biggest hits of the year that everyone will know! I absolutely love how unique it is, melding rap with country and doing it in a way that just feels so obvious, right and effortless, instead of being a jarring mess of noise where both elements clash.

Glad that Ari, Billie and Taylor all finished top 5 in your albums countdown - taste wub.gif

Just had a little catch-up on the songs - my favourites from the latest section are 'Telemóveis', 'Christmas Tree Farm', 'everything i wanted', 'Cellophane', 'Slide Away' + 'Old Town Road' <3 "Madre mía, Rosalía, bájale" has got to be the most iconic moment in a ROSALÍA song to date *.*

Hey Liam, really solid chart so far, look forward to seeing the rest. Great to see Sheppard here, I loved Zero Gravity more in the end, particularly with THAT performance, but I wish Sheppard could have made it to ESC too.

Great No.1 album too, Lover was such a big step up from Reputation for me.
