The BBC has received 80 complaints following last night's episode of EastEnders.
Despite the Walford soap taking the decision to re-write and re-film the climax to their Rob-Dawn-May baby plot due to recent events in Portugal, it has still been criticised for the graphic nature of its scenes. The episode in question – which averaged at 8.9 million viewers – saw Dawn (Kara Tointon) tied to a bed while May (Amanda Drew) threatened to perform a caesarian in a bid to take the baby from her. It has been suggested that a warning about the nature of the scenes should have been given at the start of the programme which aired pre-watershed at 8pm, but the continuity announcer said only: "Dramatic EastEnders now on BBC One - it's misery for poor Dawn as mad May puts her plan into action." A BBC spokeswoman today told DS: "[Monday's] episode involving the characters Dawn, May and Rob reached a climax that most viewers would have been anticipating. "We are sorry if some people were offended by this drama unfolding and will be addressing complaints fully in due course." |

I think it's so sad that 80 people can be bothered to watch through a whole programme they obviously dont want to watch and then complain about it.

Yeah 80 people is hardly many tbh. I mean it's one for every 100,000 watching!

Why do we even take this seriously tbh...? 80 people out of 10 million complained about it.... Big deal..... It's not the same thing as the 10,000 complaints over Big Brother last year....

The people who've complained have probably got nothing else better to do
It was hardly graphic, it's not like she actually performed it!! |

What I dont get is, people KNEW it was coming, Christ knows it was publicised enough in the tabloids, so surely to Christ anyone with any sense might just think "Oh, this whole thing with little Maddie's got me upset, maybe I shouldn't really be watching something with a child abduction plot....". How THICK do you have to be ffs......??? |

Ah, but all 80 of them were looking out for the mythical 'small child' who 'might have been watching'.
