The best thing about this album, other than the album itself, is it should free her from her ridiculous label expectations.
She can clearly create music at an impressive rate, so hopefully, there should be less of a fight against them and quicker turnarounds on full projects.
She's releasing another new song in a couple of weeks 😭

Very early days but it currently has a score of 84 on metacritic *.*
I've just had a listen to this and it's...an experience. It's very out there and '1999' is easily the most poppy song and feels a bit out of place, so those who don't like the weird futuristic glitchy sound from pop 2 heard on 2099 for example might struggle but I ... think I'm here for it? I need more time for sure. I love the opening track instantly.
It doesn't take a lot to shock me with Charli but 'Shake It' is a full on wtf moment....I...
Had an email to say my vinyl has been dispatched. Can’t wait.
I feel like I’ll love it after reading what Joe’s said about it. I was hoping it’d be more 2099 than 1999 or Blame It On Your Love, so that’s great. That’s the Charli I’m here for.
Hmm, it was just an example as others here already mentioned it reminded them of that, as pop 2 has its 'quieter' (for Charli) moments too. Not so much the melody but it's similar in a way that it has distorted all over the place production and is very odd structurally- there's a lot of that on here! 'Click''s outro is bonkers can't wait for you to hear.

Take away Blame It On Your Love and 1999 and this is exactly the album I wanted from her. They don’t fit in with the rest (especially BIOYL coming after Thoughts...)
Glad it ended up being so much better than the singles suggested. I can see why she released those though. From the first two singles I thought it’d seem watered down compared to the mixtapes but it doesn’t at all, great she could experiment on this as well. Can’t wait to see her do lots of these at Brixton, really interested to see who she brings out.

^ for that review Blame It On Your Love actually came first and Track 10 was a remixed version of it, but just released first apparently. Yay for a strong score though x

Shake It is a MOMENT. It reminds me of “Beat Down” on acid.
Checked out 'Shake It' as the features on it looked interesting and actually what the hell did I just listen to xx
(I appreciate the boldness of her putting that on an actual commercial album and there were some bits of it I liked quite a bit - CupcakKe coming through with the ASMR flow, Big Freedia and Pabllo's parts were good too - but hahaha. Tbh I can see myself stanning it with a few more listens)
Have just listened to '2099' as well and I do like that quite a bit, wasn't at all what I was expecting but that's a bit more of an easily digestible level of experimental Charli x

Shake It has me SHAKING, simultaneously the best and worst song but I stan it
White Mercedes seems to be doing the best of the new tracks according to kworb.
Next Charli my fav - referencing her best song Vroom Vroom! We have to stan.

I just dunno how she can make quality pop songs like ‘gone’, ‘warm’ or ‘miss u’ then garbage like ‘click’ ‘shake it’ or ‘vroom vroom’.

I still can't deal with Shake It. Charli channeling her inner Busta Rhymes and serving us with this alien poppers version of Touch It

Guess I'm not allowed to listen to Vroom Vroom anymore then 
Vroom Vroom is even Charli's favourite of her tracks (and video too? It's a Hannah Lux Davis one I think?)

Such a simple song for her but so well done. The gradual but subtle build in the production, the lyrics — a beautiful moment on the album.
Vroom Vroom is her best alongside Nuclear Seasons and that's on that
Debuts at #14 in the UK, one place higher than Sucker peaked! A success
Great result!
