01 Lenny Abrahamson "Room"
02 George Miller "Mad Max: Fury Road" 03 Alejandro G. Iñárritu "The Revenant" 04 Adam McKay "The Big Short" 05 Tom McCarthy "Spotlight" The line-up was pretty good this year, the only questionable inclusion for me would've been Tom McCarthy. Spotlight was one of my favourite movies of awards season last year but the direction was hardly anything special, it was the story that made it hard-hitting rather than the work of the director this time I think. I didn't really like The Revenant or The Big Short much but at least I can see how they were popular because of the visions of their director and they'd be very different movies without those people directing the whole film. I'd have definitely nominated Todd Haynes or Ridley Scott over Tom McCarthy if it was up to me. In short, here is my would-be winners of the 2016 Oscars after the review threads: Best Picture: Room Best Director: Lenny Abrahamson "Room" Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne "The Danish Girl" Best Actress: Cate Blanchett "Carol" Best Supporting Actor: Mark Ruffalo "Spotlight" Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander "The Danish Girl" Best Original Screenplay: Inside Out Best Adapted Screenplay: Room Best Animated Feature Film: Inside Out Best Original Score: Sicario Best Original Song: "Writing's on the Wall" from Spectre Best Cinematography: Carol Best Makeup and Hairstyling: Mad Max: Fury Road Best Production Design: Mad Max: Fury Road Best Costume Design: Cinderella Best Film Editing: The Big Short Best Visual Effects: The Martian Wins: Room - 3 The Danish Girl - 2 Carol - 2 Inside Out - 2 Mad Max: Fury Road - 2 Sicario - 1 Cinderella - 1 The Martian - 1 The Big Short - 1 Spectre - 1 Spotlight - 1 |

WRITING ON THE WALL JOSH?!?! Brb firing you as entertainment mod xx (Will comment properly later!!) Writing's On the Wall was actually a top 10 personal chart hit for me! It's not as good as the likes of Stay With Me and I'm Not the Only One in terms of his songs but the Oscars line-up for best song was hardly strong last year imo! |
