Analysis

Two very interesting charts this week…The album chart has no new entries but dance act Cascada re-enter at No.17 with a former top 5 album Everytime we touch!!! Elsewhere outside the top 10, The Veronicas climb back up a couple of places and Kelly Clarkson stays at No.11 after exactly a year on the chart now (having never dropped lower than 11) while most other albums see very minor slips…Infernal, Nerina Pallot, Eurovision 2006 and Summer Hits 06 dip slightly to begin the top 10 while Shakira stays in 6th place with former No.1 Oral Fixation Vol.2!!! Dannii Minogue drops a place to No.5 on her 3rd week around while Rogue Traders leap to a new peak of No.4 with their album Here come the drums!!! An incredibly close top 3 sees the best Clubland for years (Clubland 9) fall from No.1 to 3rd place while Nelly Furtado once again stays at No.2 with Loose…this means that Alright Still, the brilliant pop album from Lily Allen leaps up to No.1 after 3 weeks at No.3!!!

The singles chart sees 4 new entries courtesy of dance acts, Mickey Modelle & Jessy, Michael Gray and Lil’ Love who follow up their No.2 hit from last summer, Little Love, with a cover of Jennifer Lopez’s Waiting for tonight!!! The other new entry is Alfie from Lily Allen…Elsewhere outside the top 10, Nelly climbs to No.14 with All good things…while Mousse T and Lily Allen have non-movers just before Rihanna dips just out of the top 10 with Unfaithful…Gnarls Barkley and Christina Aguilera fall 4 places each with their new singles now at the foot of the top 10 while Bob Sinclar leaps to No.8 with World Hold On…Nelly Furtado has two songs outside the top 5…a non-mover for Promiscuous at No.7 and Maneater which falls 3 places to No.6…Cascada return to the top 5 with Everytime we touch while Paolo Nutini jumps 6 places to No.4 with Last Request!!! Rogue Traders round off a very strong week for dance music (7 songs out of the top 20) by climbing back to No.3!!! In an unprecedented fashion the top 2 remains static for a 4th week in a row with Shakira once again taking 2nd place, now with 19 weeks in the top 20 and Lily Allen staying at No.1 for a 4th week in a row with Smile!!!
