That's because 25th and 26th were very closely tied (same number of points, votes and 25s) so I asked Iz if it'd be ok to just let them both progress into a 101 song final and he kindly agreed. (The song that would have won if I took the tiebreak down to the number of 24s is the massively inferior of the two but that's besides the point). Aside from those, The 1975, Demi Lovato, Kylie Minogue, both Taylor Swifts and most pleasingly The Temper Trap are also in the final this year, the rest of those on this list (including 'Blind Faith' and 'White Noise') are repeat finalists from last year... ...except of course the only new song from 2018 to make it in from this semi-final, which is Janelle Monáe's 'Make Me Feel', interestingly by far the least well-known of the 2018 songs that featured here, yay for unexpected first-attempt ROTD finalists As for 2009 songs, this is The Temper Trap's last year in the game so let's send them out with a bang and a good result in this final, the same for 'End Credits' and of course 'Poker Face'. I'm happy enough with these results, I was getting a bit depressed at how few points most of my faves were getting early on but stuff picked up enough near the end that I've got plenty to celebrate among that lot. Porter qualifying alone makes it worth it. Here's the rest of the results though, with a whole bunch more of my favourites lining up heartbreakingly close to the mark - RIP Tame Impala (although what a result, who'd have thought it'd get anywhere near the final), RIP Florence, RIP Owl City, RIP ZHU There's no joy for 'Ignorance', 'She Wolf', 'Battlefield', 'Omen' and 'Love Story' which go out here and won't have a chance to make it to the final next year, although these are at least pretty decent semi-final performances for the last hurrahs of Paramore and The Prodigy (for whom it's also the first hurrah). 'Let It Happen' coming so close too Seems like the comparatively-lesser-known songs to make the top 20 (eg that, 'Honey', 'Make Me Feel') retained their votes better than a lot of chart hits. Would not have predicted 'Solo' to be so low after how popular it seemed at the time!

I'm a paragon so don't perceive me Joined: 3 February 2011 Posts: 37,420 User: 12,929	There might even be precedent for this, I seem to recall somewhere along the line allowing an extra song in on a super-difficult to break tied score though I cannot recall where and when that was, but yeah, no issue with 101 songs even if it isn't quite as neat. Remarkably close for Tame Impala and Janelle qualifying is really something.
