ALBUM 3 UPDATE: Album 3 is complete and nearly ready to go! Chris Hayden of Florence and the Machine has exclusively revealed to Florence + The Machine Fan Club PL that album three is complete, and is definitely going to be released in 2015, and NOT this year. According to him, he says it's going to be much more up-beat and happy!

w00t.gif Can't wait to see what she comes up with, her first two albums (especially Lungs) were perfect <3 Upbeat and happy will be interesting too.

OMG best music news if the year! yahoo.gif

Posted by: Sean. 28th October 2014, 05:20 PM

Adele AND Florence both releasing in 2015. I could cry with happiness!

Posted by: Heezus Froot 28th October 2014, 08:30 PM

Florence coming for Adele's wig in 2015.

Posted by: ░░░░ 7th January 2015, 01:42 PM

album is all mastered now so we should expect to hear something v soon

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 7th January 2015, 02:09 PM

Did she go down the dance route then

Posted by: Uptown Froot 7th January 2015, 02:14 PM

Hopefully not.

Posted by: M¤th 7th January 2015, 03:26 PM

This is going to be purely epic, very excited for this now!

Posted by: Davidson 7th January 2015, 03:48 PM

I sometimes love her and sometimes can't stand her so I don't know if I am anticipating this or not really.

If she comes back with something as good as 'What The Water Gave Me' or 'No Light No Light' though wub.gif

Posted by: Liаm 7th January 2015, 03:59 PM

Lungs is one of my favourite albums ever and Ceremonials was of such a high standard too (especially Spectrum, Shake It Out, Only If For A Night and Never Let Me Go) <3

She's set a staggering precedent but I have every faith this will be worth the wait! I do love the remix of Spectrum but I'd not want a whole album of dance, but I highly doubt she would do that. I'd just like a couple of features with maybe Disclosure or Rudimental and people like that on their albums.

Florence + The Machine played their forthcoming third album in full at a private friends and family show earlier this evening (February 9) in London.

Florence Welch ran through the record in its entirety at the event in Les Trois Garcons restaurant in Shoreditch, playing a set which included brand new songs 'Ship To Wreck', 'Caught', 'Delilah' and 'What Kind Of Man'. The audience included The xx, Jessie Ware, Fred Macpherson of Spector and the model Daisy Lowe.

Before performing, Welch spoke to the crowd about the record, which is her first since the singer's debut 'Lungs' in 2009 and its follow-up 'Ceremonials' in 2011.

Florence + The Machine are due to play a number of European festivals this summer including Way Out West in Sweden, Super Bock Super Rock in Portugal, Benicassim in Spain, Oya in Norway, Flow Festival in Finland, Rock Werchter in Belgium and Hurricane and South Side festivals in Germany.

'les trois garcons' is a f***ing fabulous restaurant. the taxidermy bulldog with fairy wings is everything *.* (tho sadly now retired)

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 10th February 2015, 03:22 PM

Not watched or listened yet but the era's starting *.*

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 10th February 2015, 04:18 PM

OK so that was different, sounds like it must be the album opener or something!

Gives us a nice taster of what to expect though and it sounds good.

Loved the scenery and story in the video wub.gif

Posted by: Conderella 10th February 2015, 05:33 PM

Loving this. Seems like this is going to be the How to Dress Well kind of video story era?

The albums called 'How Big How Blue How Beautiful' and is out on June 1st which is too far away tbh.

Not the greatest title, but yay for solid confirmation! Too far away though I agree sad.gif

Lungs is one of my faves and Ceremonials is good - Only if for the Night but has too much high standard production. She thought that's what we wanted with it and feels less authentic.

Not sure what to think of that title or the nipple shots or the song ... Sounds more like Florence + the Machine + Alanis Morrisette.

I don't get her obsession with putting 'demos' on her albums, the only demo worth listening has been Landscape and that's cause there's no proper version on the album.

*_*

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 23rd March 2015, 05:03 PM

Another beautiful song although throughout it sounded like it was building up towards something haha.

Posted by: spthoons 4th April 2015, 01:34 PM

Not keen on the album title if I'm honest. Only heard What Kind of Man so far and it didn't strike me as much as Shake It Off. Love the majority of both Lungs and Ceremonials though so am sure Flo will deliver. Still gutted we didn't get a single release for Breaking Down. sad.gif

Posted by: Davidson 6th April 2015, 09:52 AM

Only just got round to hearing 'St. Jude' now and I love it. Far more subtle that what we have come to expect from her but just stunning, lyrically and visually. She is really serving it with these videos this era.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 18th April 2015, 12:34 PM

Posted by: Conderella 19th April 2015, 06:56 AM

yasss that b-side is already better than Ship to Wreck tbh.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 29th April 2015, 04:38 PM

WKOM and STW are what will be pushing the album after all

Posted by: Kath ♡ 29th April 2015, 04:43 PM

A pity when tracks like 'St. Jude' and the above b-side are already better than the two chosen singles, one can't help but feel Flo has potential to lead the project with something better

Hoping we get some last minute single of the standards of 'Rabbit Heart' and 'Shake It Out'

Posted by: Kath ♡ 18th May 2015, 06:18 PM

'Delilah' premieres 7:30pm (BST) tomorrow on @BBCR1~

Posted by: steve201 18th May 2015, 08:46 PM

Is that the third Hottest Record from the album lol?

Posted by: Davidson 19th May 2015, 10:15 PM

Best song of the era so far for me. This is what I wanted Florence!

Posted by: Liаm 19th May 2015, 10:21 PM

I just came to post that!! Agreed though, by far the best we've heard so far wub.gif THIS is definitely more it!

Posted by: Davidson 19th May 2015, 10:27 PM

I have to say, although I have liked everything we have heard so far, my hype for this was kind of at a low point as nothing was really blowing me away. Good time to get me hooked again Flo wub.gif

Posted by: barbaric_dan 19th May 2015, 10:35 PM

St. Jude is the best

Posted by: Rabbit Froot 19th May 2015, 10:39 PM

LOVE that, much better than 'Ship to Wreck'. 'What Kind of Man' is still the best of the era though!

01. What Kind of Man
02. Delilah
03. St. Jude
04. Ship to Wreck

Posted by: jark 20th May 2015, 08:53 AM

^ I agree with your ranking completely. Delilah is wonderful. Very joyous. The way it shifts tempo puts me in mind of The Flood by Katie Melua.

Posted by: Delincuentos 20th May 2015, 09:29 AM

Delilah is unbelievable. Gives me Lover to Lover vibes. There is also a radio rip of HBHBHB and its stunning, my favourite of this era.
HBHBHB is looking to top ceremonials and maybe even Lungs. So excited for this masterpiece.

Posted by: Kath ♡ 20th May 2015, 07:35 PM

Sounds rather solid actually ;o

Posted by: Josh. 24th May 2015, 04:40 PM

Deliah is so RIGHT, feels like the best thing from this era already. Excitement for this is back on the rise.

Posted by: Henderella 29th May 2015, 08:45 AM

Queen of Peace is SO DAMN CATCHY *.* Incredible!

Posted by: Henderella 29th May 2015, 09:31 AM

A bit OFFENDED that Which Witch is not on the main edition. It's SO GOOD.

Posted by: Henderella 29th May 2015, 04:23 PM

Quite a stunning album. Still can't get over how amazingly cinematic Queen of Peace is.

Posted by: HausofKubrick 29th May 2015, 04:51 PM

The album is gorgeous. It'll probably remain the weakest of the three albums but i think that's more down to my HUGE love for the first two rather than this being at fault. 'St Jude' is lovely <3

Posted by: jark 29th May 2015, 05:06 PM

Seeing nothing but universal praise and adoration for this online. Cannot wait to get started with it.

Posted by: Henderella 30th May 2015, 10:13 AM

Caught is so damn amazing. That chorus! It took a couple of listens for me to realise that.

Posted by: Noahspike 30th May 2015, 10:59 AM

Gah I have such high expectations for this based on the four tracks I've heard and, like Jark, I've seen near unanimous praise for it online. It seems that she's got the album's sound absolutely spot on, with it feeling mature, engaging, cohesive yet not overblown, like 'Ceremonials' was to many. Really looking forward to checking it out for myself. biggrin.gif

'Ship To Wreck' didn't originally make much of an impression on me but the live performances are really winning me over. Love the intro and first verse in particular. wub.gif

Posted by: Josh. 1st June 2015, 06:23 PM

OK, so this is beautiful, utterly sensational, stunning, incredible. YES FLORENCE. Already better than Ceremonials (i think) but it would be very difficult to top Lungs. Have no idea what she was thinking when she put Which Witch as a demo BONUS TRACK sad.gif Immediate album track highlights for me are Delilah, HBHBHB and Queen of Peace but it's all rather immaculate. YES YES YES

Posted by: dandystar 3rd June 2015, 08:46 PM

So I'm really enjoying this, I definitely prefer it to Ceremonials so far and really like tracks like Ship to Wreck where she's not full out all the way through, reminds me of some of the Cure's material.

Posted by: popchartfreak 3rd June 2015, 09:42 PM

love Florence, she reminds me of classic hippie/prog rock traditions in a new suit and a bit more out-there passion. Love to see her cover these:

Posted by: barbaric_dan 3rd June 2015, 11:06 PM

Hiding is fabulous

Posted by: Mackenzie 4th June 2015, 02:03 AM

I'm yet to listen to the album in full but if the online reception is anything to go by, it sounds like her best yet! St Jude, Ship to Wreck and What Kind of Man make me so hungry to just delve deeper into the album.

Posted by: Henderella 5th June 2015, 12:22 PM

I keep coming back to this. Just noticed how utterly stunning the guitar track in Long & Lost is <3

Posted by: FROOT. 6th June 2015, 04:39 PM

Still yet to listen to the album ph34r.gif BUT just came to say how GOOD 'Delilah' is. So strong and I'll get onto the album asap.

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 6th June 2015, 09:21 PM

Such a brilliant album. Delilah, Caught & Third Eye are my favourite non-singles.

St. Jude has yet to grow on me, though. sad.gif

Posted by: FROOT. 7th June 2015, 11:47 AM

Amazing. Waaay to early to tell just after one listen but I think it may be better than 'Ceremonials' for me (obviously nothing can beat 'Lungs'). It sounds more 'earthy' (?) rather than the polished nature of 'Ceremonials'. 'Delilah' HAS to be the next single and I'm sure it will be, so amazing. 'St. Jude' is also still so beautiful.

Have to echo the bemusement and annoyance at 'Which Witch' not only relegated to deluxe status but also being left in demo status. mad.gif

Posted by: SLlewellyn 7th June 2015, 12:45 PM

Quite liked the album on first listen, though all the instant grats are easily the best material. Agree that "Delilah" should be a single, though Annie Mac played "Queen of Peace" as a Hottest Record the other night and said that was the third (?) single after "What Kind of Man" and "Ship to Wreck".

Hoping it'll grow on repeated listens though, 'Lungs' and 'Ceremonials' are both incredible - with "No Light, No Light" remaining my favourite FATM track to date.

Posted by: Davidson 9th June 2015, 01:04 AM

Think 'Queen of Peace' is already becoming one of my favourite Florence songs of all time, so if that was 3rd single that would be perfect.

For the record, I also concur this is a fantastic album. Much preferring it to 'Ceremonials' which always was a bit disappointing for me despite some real stand out tracks. This is way more consistent and the sound seems more natural and organic. The big moments just happen without any real try-hardness.

Posted by: steve201 9th June 2015, 09:38 AM

Queen of Peace was Hottest Record last week and is confirmed as single 3, clearly an album highlight!

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 9th June 2015, 12:24 PM

I approve of the single choice!

Florence (but not the Machine) also recently broke her foot jumping off the Coachella stage. : O

Posted by: Liаm 18th June 2015, 07:33 PM

I had an epiphany about the sheer incredible-ness pf Ship To Wreck earlier tbh and I've barely listened to anything else all day laugh.gif It's just perfect, the balance between tragic lyrics and jaunty instrumental/melody <3

Posted by: Davidson 27th June 2015, 11:17 AM

Anyone watch her headline Glasto set? I thought she did incredibly well, I forgot how much I loved her as a live performer.

Posted by: Henderella 27th June 2015, 11:49 AM

Still obsessed with 3 tracks. The title song, Which Witch and Queen of Peace. Sensational trio.

Posted by: Chez Wombat 27th June 2015, 12:11 PM

Yeah, amazing set at Glastonbury, such energy and particularly loved the Foo Fighters tribute, that was a really nice touch.

And I finally listened to this album and sure enough it's really good! Much better than Ceremonials, it's nice to see her use her voice differently and go softer on some songs as well, particularly St Jude <3 Delilah's growing on me a little bit after not really getting it on first listen, hope it can be a single.

Posted by: Davidson 27th June 2015, 12:56 PM

I don't really get the fuss over 'Which Witch'. I mean I do really like how big it sounds but I also feel as though there is something missing from it - it definitely sounds like the demo that it is. 'Queen Of Peace', 'Delilah', 'How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful', 'Third Eye' and 'Mother' are the stand out WOW tracks I think. All some of my favourite Florence songs ever already.

I still can't get over quite how good this album is either. I have always enjoyed Florence but never been a massive fan but this record has really turned that around and I have never liked her more. I would argue that the only song below an 8.0/10.0 on the standard tracklisting is indeed 'Ship To Wreck' and even that has grown on me a lot in the context of the album.

Posted by: barbaric_dan 30th June 2015, 08:01 PM

NEED to see her live.

Posted by: Henderella 4th July 2015, 03:09 PM

Okay, this has now become my favourite album of hers and maybe even my favourite of 2015.

When you have such amazing songs as Which Witch, Conductor, As Far As I Could Get and Pure Feeling as merely your BONUS TRACKS, but they don't overshadow the main edition songs, it's a sign that you are doing this music thing RIGHT.

Posted by: Ninjabait 7th July 2015, 05:52 PM

Just listened through the album on Spotify. On first impression, it's a pretty great album and probably one of the better things I've heard this year so far. I quite enjoyed "Ship to Wreck", the title track, "Queen of Peace", "Various Storms & Saints", "Delilah", and "Mother". Right now I'm leaning towards "Queen of Peace" being my favorite song.

I may check out the three bonus tracks since everyone is talking about how good they are.

Posted by: ThePensmith 9th July 2015, 02:34 PM

I finally watched back her Glasto set on iPlayer last night. What I've heard of the new album sounds like a return to form (I didn't care much for 'Ceremonials' bar 'Shake it Out') and 'Ship to Wreck' is a decent effort.

Posted by: Liаm 20th July 2015, 04:27 PM

Apparently Long & Lost is a double A-Side single with Queen Of Peace?! Double A-sides aren't really needed in the digital era, and I think it's a pretty crap single choice. Good enough song but it's just "nice". Queen Of Peace is a monster and is going to have an epic 10 minute video I read, it doesn't need to be straddled with anything else!

Posted by: Henderella 21st July 2015, 09:40 AM

She should've properly recorded Which Witch (although the version from the album sounds really amazing for a demo) and released it alongside Queen of Peace instead. Could've easily been the strongest double A-side single since forever.

OH well. She didn't. And there's just as good tracks on the record. If not better.

Clever way to use a double A-Side. Still, Queen Of Peace SLAYS the hell out of Long & Lost.
